t’s Spring, a time for growth and rebirth. With all the rain we’ve had in SOFU the past few weeks, I’m certain that we are in for one beautiful season. Everything is blooming, birds are chirping, and it’s time to get outside and experience all that this area has to offer.
In this issue, we’ll do just that. Follow me through these pages as we learn about wonderful SOFU gems. Whether it’s grass fed beef or soccer on the lush grounds at Your Faith Farms, learning about the new farmer’s market at South Fulton Landscape and Nursery, or being inspired by our award-winning young tennis players, you’ll find something that will remind you of how awesome it is to call SOFU home. My challenge to you is to think about how you can grow this season. What seeds did you plant in winter that should be blooming now? Are you seeing growth? If so, GREAT! If not, what can you do differently to create growth where none existed before? I’d love to hear your responses, so please share them with me at michelle.willis@lifestylepubs.com. Remember this: the season is yours. It truly belongs to you. Make something happen. I hope to see you around, patronizing our treasured businesses. Talk soon! Michelle

long-time participant in the Atlanta Bike MS events. "Training is a journey in itself and is essential to preparing mentally and physically for a successful ride." To get started on the training journey, a free subscription to an interactive, web-based training log and food diary called TrainingPeaks is provided for Bike MS participants. Custom-written cycling training plans are available for download to help individuals achieve their health and fitness goals. Individual cyclists and teams may register for the Bike MS: Atlanta Peach Ride 2016 at bikemsgeorgia.org. The registration fee is $45 before June 15, and the fundraising minimum is $350. All funds raised support national research for a cure and local client programs and services for Georgians living with MS. "Don't let this amount scare you," says Brooks Palmerton, development associate for Bike MS. "Last year, the average participant raised $800. Many of us don't even realize how many of our friend's and family's lives have been affected by MS until we start talking about it." WHAT IS MS?

Greg Cole 16
South Fulton Lifestyle | April 2016
Savors Sweet Success on Camp Creek Parkway ARTICLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED
regory Cole always knew that he would do well at anything he put his mind to. With a professional career that includes well over 20 years of success in the hospitality and retail industries, he warmly embraced the opportunity to run his own business. Today, he sits at the helm of the Camp Creek Marketplace’s newest restaurant (an growing East Point location) Chicago’s Nancy’s Pizza, further establishing the franchise’s reputation as the home of the original stuffed pizza. Specializing in the 2 ó” deep dish pizza, Cole is assuring that his franchise lives up to the company’s corporate tagline, which states, “We take fresh seriously.” The dough and sauce are made fresh daily, and all vegetables are fresh. With the new location he has added fresh made pasta to the menu, which he’s sure the customers will really enjoy! In operation since November of 2006 at the previous Buckhead location, Cole’s leadership has ranked his franchise as number one out of 49 stores across the nation. As he savors the sweet taste of success, Cole is excited about his business as it stands today, and he is even more excited about what lies ahead. There are a number of contributing factors to Cole’s success. Grossing over $1.4 million in sales last year and currently surpassing
its goal for the first quarter of this year at the NEW Camp Creek location, he attributes some of the company’s progression to his experience in the hospitality/food and beverage industry. Before spending a 20+ year career in hotel management, he also made history as the first African-American manager of Barnes Supermarket, a corporate chain supermarket in Pensacola, Florida. But Cole also appreciates the fact that he has a team of professionals who are committed to excellence. With the exception of the new hires (due to the tremendous growth), all of them have been with me since I came on board. I have an excellent manager and supervisors, and they all are trained to be customer service focused,” he states. He also says that he has a hands-on management style that keeps him personable and approachable. “I don’t ask my people to do anything that I wouldn’t or couldn’t do. And, I’ve received comments from customers stating that it is admirable to see the owner interfacing with the customers, which is something that I do often. I think it’s important for the people to know that the leadership is sincerely concerned about their dining experience being a good experience,” he adds. To that end, Cole is consistently strategizing new ideas that will attract more customers. For instance, the pizzeria offers Karaoke Saturday night with a deejay, and you never know what artist may stop in to sing. There is a happy hour type event on Thursdays called Therapeutic Thursdays. It should also be noted that the décor and style of the restaurant is not that of your everyday pizzeria in that Cole’s full bar presents a sports bar atmosphere. His location is one of only two stores that has a full bar. Cole’s ultimate goal is to operate three stores in the metropolitan Atlanta area within the next three years. On target, he is looking forward to opening his second location back in Buckhead in the first quarter of 2017. The history of Nancy’s Pizza dates back to 1971 when Italian immigrants, Nancy and Rocco Palese, opened their first pizza parlor, Guy’s Pizza, in Chicago. They were known for their thin crust pizza, but as business fluctuated, the Paleses began experimenting. Rather than imitate, Rocco modeled his new pizza creation after a family recipe for ‘scarciedda,’ an Easter specialty cake made by his mother. The end result was the first stuffed pizza in America, which is now a staple in the pizza industry. The invention and success of the stuffed pizza led to the opening of Rocco’s new restaurant in 1974, Nancy’s Pizza in Harwood Heights, IL. This was the first of many Nancy’s Pizza locations. he theme of the 14th Annual South Metro Development Outlook was “South Metro Soaring in ’16,” and this dynamic meeting of minds delivered on demonstrating just how much “South Metro is sizzling,” as one SMDO presenter pointed out. More than 600 attendees for SMDO 2016 convened Feb. 18, 2016, at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park. SMDO brings together leaders involved in the growth and development of South Metro to share ideas and discuss future opportunities. The event attracts industry experts, corporate executives, government leaders and elected officials interested in fostering economic growth in the Southern Crescent of metropolitan Atlanta. It’s the brainchild of Michael Hightower, managing partner, The Collaborative Firm, LLC, and board of directors, Atlanta Aerotropolis Alliance. Hightower acknowledged presenting sponsor Porsche Cars North America, Inc., by presenting a plaque to Joseph Folz, the luxury brand’s vice president, general counsel and secretary, and chairman emeritus, Atlanta Aerotropolis Alliance. SMDO kicked off with “The Georgia Gang” political experts Phil Kent and Jeff Dickerson, who presided over the day’s sessions. Sessions included 2016 Economic Forecast, South Metro Economic Development Highlights, The Millennial Movement in South Metro, Technology and the Digital Age and Education and South Metro. The closing session focused on an Atlanta Aerotropolis Update. 18

SMDO conference founder and managing partner Michael Hightower presented Dr. Thomas “Tim” Hynes, president of Clayton State University, with the SMDO Visionary Award.
For the session on Millennial Movement in South Metro, South Fulton Lifestyle magazine co-publisher Michelle Willis served as moderator. Panelists provided insight on the millennial lifestyle in an effort to identify opportunities to attract and sustain this demographic for the region’s future growth. “The millennial session highlighted the need for South Metro to better understand the needs and interests of our current and future residents,” said Hightower. Other highlights of SMDO included general session II, South Metro Economic Development Highlights, during which panelist David Welch noted “It’s our time now on the Southside.” Welch is partner at Robinson Weeks Partners. Fellow panelist Al Nash, executive director, Development Authority of Douglas County, added that “Truly, South Fulton is a leader in the movie and entertainment industry in the United States.” During the fifth session, Education and South Metro, Dr. Alvetta Peterman Thomas, president, Atlanta Technical College, noted the importance of business engagement. “We cannot do this work without strong business relationships,” said Thomas. “We expect businesses to tell us what we should be teaching students. We want students ready to go into the workforce.” Perhaps the takeaway that truly summed up the packed day best came from Larry Vincent, chairman, Development Authority of Clayton County. “The Southside will not be the same in the next 10 years,” said Vincent.

PAIN AS A WARNING ARTICLE WINSTON CARHEE, DC | PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED
F
eeling pain is like an oil warning light in your car, an external sign of an internal problem. The neurological transmission of the nerve signal inhibits the portion of the brain that causes the feelings of well-being in the midbrain (substantia nigra) and can cause stress. These two pathways compete to control the emotional atmosphere and overall mood of the individual experiencing pain. You instinctively go into survival mode (stress response) and blood is shunted away from internal organs that aid in nonessential body functions like digestion or reproduction. This is primarily the reason why individuals with prolonged exposure to pain have digestive and reproductive problems. Prolonged stress leads to hormone imbalances related to the stress glands of the body known as the adrenal glands. These glands secrete hormones that control sleep, digestion, weight gain, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, allergies, arthritis, immunity, heart function, fatigue, etc. These glands can be checked and if malfunctioning, they can be repaired through diet and supplements. Nerves feel pain. These pain fibers can be triggered by trauma or repetitive stress which cause tissue damage. We can have falls and accidents that occurred in the past, which can cause undetected and long-lasting damage not just to muscles but also to nerves as well. Nerves control and coordinate all functions in the body, so if they are not working properly, neither will your body. Headaches, numbness, back or neck pains usually come from undetected nerve damage. Learning how to eliminate or properly manage any pain that you may be feeling is essential to overall good health. PHASES OF HEALING ARE:
1. The Inflammatory Phase 2. The Repair Phase 3. The Remodeling Phase In the first phase of healing, the Inflammatory Phase, damaged cells cause swelling and your body restricts joint motion 20
South Fulton Lifestyle | April 2016
to prevent further injury. However when you enter the second stage of healing The Repair Phase, after the danger of further injury (swelling) is gone and your body still continues to restrict joint motion which tends to lead to increase the pain signal if not moved properly. Conversely, movement of joint spaces neurologically inhibit the conduction of the pain signal, this is called the gate-control theory. Joint movement stimulates proprioceptive nerve fibers found in your joint spaces. These nerves are faster than pain fibers and inhibit the pain signals from reaching the brain, thereby decreasing your perception of pain. In addition, the proprioceptive fibers promoted the release of dopamine which promotes feeling of well-being. To sum it up, if you want to physically inhibit pain and promote feelings of well-being, you need to move the joint spaces. ast May, Erykah Badu electrified fans when she came into the crowd, mic in hand, and sang and partied during her memorable Funk Fest performance at Wolf Creek Amphitheater. But Ms. Badu, says Sandy Poag, the South Fulton venue’s entertainment manager, is no exception. “Boney James did that on our last show. It was phenomenal,” Poag shares. “He came out in the rain and serenaded the crowd and the VIP tables and came up into the reserve seats. Howard Hewett has done that. Kem did that this last year. Stephanie Mills. Ken Ford.” 22
South Fulton Lifestyle | April 2016
And this season, which kicks off Mother’s Day Weekend, on May 7, with A Night of Classic R&B featuring Stephanie Mills and Jeffrey Osborne with Howard Hewett, promises to keep the party going. There’s the two-day 2016 ATL Soul Life Music Fest Memorial Day Weekend, May 28 and 29, featuring Lalah Hathaway, The Robert Glasper Experiment, Syleena Johnson, Eric Roberson, Anthony David, Kindred the Family Soul, Avery Sunshine, Rahsaan Patterson, Goapele and Angie Stone. Plus the popular Affordable Old School Concert
Series, with such artists as El DeBarge, En Vogue, 112 and Jagged Edge, as well as the Wolf Creek Jazz Festival featuring Will Downing, Rachelle Ferrell, Najee, Kirk Whalum and more. “Over 100 artists will grace our stage,” says Poag. That, of course, is great news for South Fulton residents. Since its inaugural free concert with India.Arie back in 2011, Wolf Creek, the one-time shooting facility for the 1996 Olympics transformed into a 435-acre amphitheater, has been delivering top-notch entertainment rivaling that of other venues
throughout the city. And Poag, whose duties encompass everything from booking the artists, handling the marketing and public relations and purchasing radio, TV and other media to overseeing security, venue logistics, vendors and more, is one of the reasons why. The Atlanta native, who grew up in Southwest and Fayetteville, does all she can to ensure that patrons have the best experience possible, from their bathroom visits (Poag jokes that she’s known as “the plug-in queen” for her penchant for air fresheners) to the actual show. For the Howard University alum who has worked in the entertainment industry for over 30 years in various capacities, some even using her law degree, pleasing patrons is first and foremost. “We really create a party atmosphere out there. They’re not just concerts. They are really the largest parties in Atlanta. That’s the way I push it. That’s the way I branded it and that’s the way we have really gotten very loyal patrons from the services that we provide out there,” Poag says.
“Wolf Creek was needed because there was not an amphitheater in South Fulton that caters to the music tastes of the citizens of South Fulton County,” Poag explains. “Wolf Creek currently offers eight different genres of music such as jazz, R&B, reggae, gospel, old school hip-hop, blues and funk. Each year, we try to add a new genre to serve the South Fulton community.” Keeping the experience affordable is also top priority. “We really give you a value for your money, for your tickets,” Poag stresses. “We give you a comedian. We give you a DJ and then we give you a concert, the artist. So, with all three of those things, that’s a value for your ticket. And then we also offer affordable pricing for our tickets.” Tickets, which can be purchased through Ticket Alternative, as well as at the box office and select Atlanta metro outlets, typically range from $35 for general seating to $95 for VIP table seating. “My goal is to keep things affordable so that everybody, no matter what your income CONTINUED >

I mean we really give you a value for your money. You can still bring in your own food, your own beverages, even though we have vendors on site and we have food trucks going forward.” Last year, fifteen of Wolf Creek’s twenty shows sold out so Poag suggests getting tickets, which went on sale a month earlier this year, to such popular shows as the Affordable Old School Concert Series and Old School Hip Hop Fest at least a month before the show, especially since out-of-state fans do travel in. Early arrival day of the show is highly recommended and so is parking in Lot D and taking the shuttle bus. “Be prepared to party from start to finish at Wolf Creek,” says Poag. “Our DJs are the best in the city so bring your dancing shoes. Dress casually in comfortable clothing. Please remember that these are not concerts; these are the largest outdoor parties in Atlanta.”

Your Faith Farms SO MUCH MORE THAN 30 ACRES AND A MULE NAMED FREEDOM ARTICLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED
"M
om, when I grow up, I’m going to have a house so big I will have a dolphin in my backyard.” Those were the dreams of a young boy from East St. Louis, Illinois. Fast forward 20+ years and that little boy is one of the largest African American land owners in South Fulton Georgia. Patrick S. Muhammad and his family reside on “Your Faith Farms,” a 30 Acre farm off Jones Rd in Fairburn, Georgia. There are no dolphins yet, but the Muhammad family is raising grass-fed beef and free range chickens. There is also a five acre vegetable and fruit garden. In addition, the farm specializes is breeding German shepherd and Presa Canario Dogs for farm and family use. This is just the beginning. By day, Mr. Muhammad is a principal of an elementary school and Mrs. Muhammad is a second grade teacher. Currently, their large farming responsibilities occur in the evenings and consumes their weekends. But as their youngest son will tell you, they "love living on the farm!” As residents of South Fulton area for the past 10 years, the Muhammad’s stepped out on faith three years ago to purchase a farm and haven’t looked back. “It’s real work, but you know, we enjoy every minute of it.” The Muhammad’s vision for the farm is not limited to traditional farm related activity as evidenced by a partnership that developed just last year. During the spring of 2015, Your Faith Farms collaborated with a local youth soccer league, Amazon Sports. Now during the spring and fall, the farm is full of energetic 3-18 years running up and down the pastures turned temporary soccer fields. “The Muhammad Family has been a blessing to our youth. We had nowhere to go after the loss of our previous location. We reached out to Patrick and the rest is history. Amazon Sports has a new home,” said Coach Sidney Lawrence, Founder of Amazon Sports. Not only are the youth of Amazon Sports learning athletic skills, such as execution and team work, they also have the opportunity to experience life on the farm. As we approach the first growing season of 2016, Your Faith Farms is in high gear. “The key to a plentiful harvest each year is the proper preparation of your seedlings. YFF is raising some 5000 seedlings of various plants; installing their first “hoop house” or wind tunnel for year-long growing. “This will increase our local production of vegetables by 40% this season. We can’t help but be excited about that!” says Muhammad. The planned yield this year will consist of watermelon, cantaloupe, broccoli, onions, tomatoes, okra, kale, cucumbers, spinach, peppers and more. Providing organically grown, fresh fruits and vegetables for Fairburn and neighboring communities continues to be a goal of Your Faith Farms.

South Fulton Lifestyle | April 2016
“Your Family Food Boxes” are monthly food boxes that include free range eggs, grass fed beef, vegetables, quail, fruits, and a mystery item (like you used to get in your cereal box), a joint venture with partner farm, Swanson’s Family Farm, Hampton.
In July, 2016, Your Faith Farms is preparing to officially launch farm tours and the children’s village with an animal petting area. The tours and the children’s village will give the community an opportunity to experience a working farm and get the youth excited about getting back to nature. As life-long educators, The Muhammad’s are always looking for opportunities to share teachable moments with the community’s children and families. The farms nickname is “30 Acres and A Mule,” for more than one reason. The family has 30 acres of land and a mule named Freedom. After a few minutes in conversation with Patrick, #ThePrincipalFarmer kicks in. “As I advance in my professional career there are benefits, true enough. However, when the time comes and the direction of that career shifts, I can’t beg that employer to hold a position so I can leave it for my children. When that career ends, it truly ends, it’s gone. There’s nothing that I can take from that ended career and give to my children that will establish a true foundation for them to be free. The next generation will have to start all over. There is no relay of career success from one to another. That’s why we stepped out on faith and bought the farm. You have to always be prepared to do something for yourself and family. I encourage families to BUY LAND. Why? The opportunities that will present themselves, the health benefits, the clearing of your mind, and the smile on the ancestors faces, is worth it all. BUY LAND.” We look forward to seeing the continuous growth of Your Faith Farms. As the Muhammad’s say, "Here We Grow!"

I often say tennis is life because like “life,” we all have ups and downs. I may not win every tennis match, but competing has molded me into a tougher and more mature player. Through my involvement in sports, I have learned to handle frustrations and personal challenges. I was introduced to tennis at the age of 10, but in the last several years, I have been under the direct tutelage of South Fulton Tennis Academy’s Head Coach and Director Sam Kennedy. Coach Sam is not only my personal tennis coach, but he is also my community hero. Last summer, I was a winner of the Arthur Ashe National Essay Contest which afforded me, Coach Sam and a chaperone an all expense paid trip to the U.S. Open in New York City. There, we met key individuals who hugely support youth tennis; among them former New York City Mayor David Dinkins, Arthur Ashe’s widow Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe, and USTA President Katrina Adams. I aspire to compete on the collegiate level and possibly beyond. My goal is to earn a tennis athletic scholarship to a major university where I plan to pursue a degree in engineering. Currently, I am enrolled in Westlake High School. I am a member of the class of 2017 Math/Science Magnet Program, the National Honor Society, and the varsity tennis team. Working with the Keep South Fulton County Beautiful organization, I am planning to organize neighborhood cleanups near my high school. This past spring, I earned my Professional Tennis Registry coaching certification as an Associate Instructor, which allowed me to coach youth athletes at South Fulton Tennis Center’s Summer Tennis Camp. Tennis is not just life – tennis is my life!

A
s the owner and founder of She Gadget, South Fulton's own Jennifer Mackey found it necessary to reach out to educate and empower women's safety. She Gadget challenges the modern day woman to be “Pretty, Protected and Powerful” because you can be pretty but safe at the same time which makes She Gadget unique with her pretty personal safety gadgets. She Gadget was started out of Jennifer’s years as a Realtor and she often found herself in dangerous situations. She developed a passion and concern for the safety and the safety of others. Recent headlines serve as a reminder of the dangers that lurk, from robberies at open houses, agents attacked at gunpoint, date rape and relationship violence. Jennifer began conducting seminars and offered resources and tip sheets to teach her peers what safety precautions they can take when showing client’s homes and conducting open houses. She Gadget aims to empower women to be prepared for the unexpected. Women must become wiser and pay attention to detail. Know your surroundings, always pay attention to the people around you, take extra precautions when going out at night, form a buddy system so that a family member or friend know where you are at all times and importantly, be protected with a gadget such as pepper spray, stun guns or personal alarms. One of their pet peeves at She Gadget is watching women walking around with headphones, Bluetooth or a cell phone in their face. A predator knows when you’re not paying attention to your surroundings, which makes you an easy target. A big key to eliminating this issue would be to pay attention when walking alone and having some sort of safety gadget to help protect you from a predator. Walking around and not paying attention and being alert is crazy! Even if your car breaks down, make sure you have your safety gadget is in your hands while waiting for help. If you are pulled over by a police officer at night, please make sure you pull over in a lighted area where the public can see you. Never pull over in a dark area because you take the risk of facing a possible police imitator. Visit SheGadget.com for your personal safety gadgets. She Gadget provides high quality products with a lifetime warranty on all stun guns. Every woman should be “Pretty Protected and Powerful.” PS. I have some of these products and the pictures do not show how cute and blingy they are! I love them!- Erikka Mitchell, editor

"Lil Girl" Stun Gun
Dear Dr. RJ, I’m worried about my son. He has started to hang out with the wrong crowd and he’s been snappy and irritable with us (his parents) lately. I received his midterm grades and they are all failing. He’s only 14 years old and I don’t want him to go down the wrong road. He comes from a good family and his father and I provide him with all that he needs and more. What could be wrong? -Wondering and Worried
Dear Wondering and Worried, Although it is normal for teens to have ups and downs, any drastic change in behavior should be concerning. The best thing to do is to consult with a professional like a licensed counselor or psychologist about your concerns. Your son may just be dealing with a temporary problem but it is better to know exactly what might be going on with him. Note that irritability is often a symptom of depression and untreated depression is hazardous as well as risky. Best Wishes, Dr. RJ

Mary Parker: The Chick in Charge
ARTICLE TENISHA BELL PHOTOGRAPHY ASA WILLIAMS
M
ulti-million-dollar entrepreneur Mary Parker is encouraging all women to be IN CHARGE. Parker, CEO of All(n)1 Security has penned her new book The Chick in Charge. Throughout the pages of this transparent journey from obscurity to success, Parker provides a winning blueprint that incorporates years of struggle, challenges, and triumph from childhood to Corporate America. Parker, born in Jim Crow Mississippi during the 50s, is the 2nd of nine children. Her parents were share croppers. She recalls watching her grandmother as a young child, and quickly identified the matriarch as a “Chick in Charge.” Parker went on to marry at a young age and divorce. As a single mother she quickly climbed the ladder of success at General Motors only to be demoted. She then started a business that failed. Clearly, Parker has had her share of trials and tribulations. But she also had the ability to overlook her circumstances and possess a spirit of leadership and greatness. 42
South Fulton Lifestyle | April 2016
“When I was demoted I was determined that no one would have control of my destiny. I needed to become the employer, not remain the employee,” says Parker. Parker now owns the nation’s largest, woman owned, full-service security firms. She has more than 300 employees with offices in the United States and Africa. Her firm has provided protection for President Barack Obama, PBA Tours, NBA All Star Games, Super Bowls and other major events. “Being an African American woman in a white male dominated field has its challenges. With my book, The Chick in Charge, I want to help women to assert themselves in their industry and possess the level of confidence that they should.” In her new book, complete with a forward written by Civil Rights icon Xernona Clayton, Parker offers life lessons, business principles and inspirational tools for success. With each page Parker equips every reader with the strength to not just succeed, but to take charge! To order visit: TheChickInCharge.com.

Parting Thoughts
Family First: A Farewell Letter WORDS PROVIDED
D
ear Neighbors and Constituents, It has been an honor to serve the people of District 62. In March of last year, I announced I will not seek re-election as State Representative upon the end of the 2016 Legislative Session. The unexpected loss of both of my parents has compelled me to enjoy my privilege of being a mother. I recognize that our community deserves the best leader, which includes one whom is available to do the job. I knew I could not continue to be the accessible and involved advocate our community needs in the State House. I appreciate your support in this transition and promise to complete my term in 2016 with the same enthusiasm as I started and help whomever succeeds me to transition. I hope that in my time serving you I have accomplished some of the goals that led me to office including blazing a trail for new leaders to step up in our community, raising the expectations of our community for transparent and accessible leadership, keeping the community educated and informed, and using my legal experience to bring common sense to the State House. More important, I hope citizens recognize that although I will not hold elected office, I still will be an active and engaged citizen, just as I have asked my constituents to be. South Fulton is not just an area, it is a community. As a community we all have to do our part and I cannot wait to return to doing my part as a citizen, parent and neighbor. 50
South Fulton Lifestyle | April 2016
Now is the time for citizens to start looking at their options for new legislators. Right now the role of a South Fulton legislator in the General Assembly is important because South Fulton residents have less elected leaders to advocate on their behalf. Every other city in our county has a mayor and council to plan for the future and advocate for their needs. Without that, South Fulton’s elected leaders in the General Assembly and the County Commission should be the best South Fulton has to offer. I am excited that already the candidate pool is large with several citizens expressing interest in running. I encourage ALL people who have a passion to serve and time to commit to do their part. Seats of elected office belong to “the people” and not any individual and where citizens are not satisfied with their leadership, it is the citizens responsibility to say so by supporting new candidates for office. We are better served in our community when we have lots of options and fresh ideas are needed in all of our elected offices. Although I am leaving, I am not disappointed. The opportunity to nurture my family, grow my law firm, and allow my husband to focus on his IT business is as much of an honor as it was to be able to serve my community. Thank you for your continued support. Sincerely, LBJ
