WHAT IS 100% GENUINE CORK FABRIC? Cork is harvested from the cork oak tree which is found mainly in coastal areas of Portugal and Spain. The fabric is made by boiling the bark and then placing thin slices onto a cotton polyester backing. The top of the cork fabric is sealed with two layers of waterproofing sealant so that nothing can penetrate through. This fabric is upholstery grade material and meant to be as durable as leather and last for many years. The additional features of cork are: Lightweight Waterproof
Scratch Resistant Mildew Resistant
Hypoallergenic Stain Resistant
The fabric is cleaned using a damp sponge and water and requires no oils or additional treatments.

Little Vic’s Rosticceria - A Taste of Sicily When Vic Caracci’s Great Grandfather came by banana boat from Sicily to the United States, little did he know that a legacy that he created would continue on today in the French Quarter. When Vic’s family immigrated from Sicily, they settled straight into New Orleans and worked as street vendors in the French Market selling a variety of fruits, vegetables and many other things. Vic’s uncle and a friend came from Sicily and taught Vic & cousins how tto make their famous gelato. His Grandfather opened Papa Vics and continued to master the art of making gelato. Since Vic was named after his Grandfather, it was only natural when his dream to open his own place became a reality, Little Vic’s was born. Little Vic’s, a family owned & operated business, opened in 2010. Vic has brought the taste and tradition of Sicily to New Orleans through the recipes and dishes that his Grandfather passed onto him as he taught him to cook. He has created the atmosphere of the Rosticceria that is typical of small delis and street vendors that would prepare their food daily in the morning and sell throughout the day until it was gone. And on any given day you will find the aromas of the homemade breads and sauces that will take you a walk back in time, along with the old family photos of generations past that adorn the walls. Little Vic’s specializes in Pizza Focaccia, Sfogila and Pitoni which represents the traditional Sicilian street food along with Vic’s favorite, Arancini, which are filled and fried risotto balls. Everything is homemade and is prepared in house, including the breads, sauces and pastries. They also offer a variety of fresh made salads, baked pasta specials, sandwiches, pastries and of course their famous gelato. The family gelato making is carried on to this day by Vic and his cousin Frank, who he has been training since he was 14 years old. Bringing the family tradition from Sicily .......... Enjoy it in the courtyard! Little Vic’s Rosticceria Sicilian Street Food 719 Toulouse St. • New Orleans, LA 70130 • 504.304.1238 Page 18

A Real New Orleans Original Not only was French Quarter Artist Craig Tracy born and raised in New Orleans, he is also one of the most creative personalities you will ever meet. He lives and works in the French Quarter and he usually spends the majority of his afternoons casually meeting and greeting those that admire and collect his enigmatic works. "My gallery acts as an informal annex to my living room and Studio" states the artist in a recent interview. "I love connecting with people and sharing what I do." The Craig Tracy Gallery, located at 827 Royal Street, will soon be celebrating it's eighth birthday and if you know your history and math you'll know that Tracy's was one of the first galleries opened just after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Being a part of the "rebirth" of the New Orleans creative and business scene meant taking substantial risks, but for an artist such as Tracy, risks are all just par for the course. His gallery is the very first in the world dedicated to the fine art of bodypainting and without a doubt it is now a substantial cultural must see while visiting the French Quarter. If you love art and creativity, you'll not want to miss your chance to visit his gallery and perhaps take a piece home from a real New Orleans original. French Quarter Guide

Originally built in 1718, the St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans is the oldest cathedral in the U.S. The present structure, the third one on the site, dates from 1789. When states had their own currency, the Louisiana Dix (French for ten) was a favored currency for trade. English speakers called them Dixies and coined the term Dixieland. The formal transfer of the Louisiana Purchase was made at the Cabildo building in New Orleans on December 20, 1803.
The first theater in the U.S. was established in New Orleans. New Orleans is also where opera was first performed in the U.S., back in 1796.
Poker was invented in New Orleans during the 1700s. The game of craps was invented in New Orleans in 1813 as betting was common activity on the wharves.
The term Uncle Sam was coined on the wharves of New Orleans before Louisiana was a U.S. territory as goods labeled U.S. were from “Uncle Sam. New Orleans is the home of the oldest pharmacy in America at 514 Chartres Street in the French Quarter. It is one of the oldest streets in the city, dating from the French Colonial era, and is most well known for the antique shops, art galleries, and stately hotels that line its sides as it runs through New Orleans' French Quarter and tourist district. Royal Street is the best known street in the French Quarter besides Bourbon Street. The street starts at Canal Street (above Canal Street the equivalent street becomes Uptown New Orleans' St. Charles Avenue). It runs down through the French Quarter, Faubourg Marigny, Bywater, and Lower 9th Ward neighborhoods to the Jackson Barracks at the border of St. Bernard Parish. The Industrial Canal forms a gap in the street between the Bywater and Lower 9th Ward neighborhoods. The most famous section of Royal street is the portion in the upper French Quarter, known for its scores of opulent antique shops and art galleries. Despite its orderly nature, it is located only one block south of the party atmosphere of Bourbon Street. The prices at its art shops and antique stores tend to be very high; indeed, it has been listed as one of the most expensive places to shop in the world. The finer antique shops display not simply items that are old, but such rare items as pieces of fine art furniture owned by royalty of past centuries. Although such pieces are out of the budget of all but a few visitors, window shopping along Royal Street is a popular pastime for visitors, especially art lovers, even if they are not buying. The portion of Royal Street between St Louis and St Ann streets is closed to traffic every afternoon to create a pedestrian mall. During this time, numerous street performers set up in the street. Though the quality of performers ranges widely, some of the best up and coming jazz bands in New Orleans can be seen here regularly. Royal Street also includes restaurants, ranging from the upscale Brennan's through midrange and budget options, as well as luxury hotels such as the Omni Royal Orleans and the Hotel Monteleone. Below Jackson Square, Royal becomes more of a mix of residential and neighborhood businesses. Despite catastrophic damage in most of the city caused by the failure of the Federal levee system during Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Royal Street was spared by the great flood other than the section in the Lower 9th Ward, as it is in the naturally higher ground near the Mississippi River levee. Flooding was only minor and restricted to the street while most sidewalks and stores remained free of floodwaters. Source: Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Street
