Kimberley A. Birkhimer, CNT - Neurofeedback is neither invasive nor pharmaceutical. Studies have shown statistically significant improvement in addiction, depression, pain, sleep disorders, nightmares, learning disabilities, Asperger’s, migraines, epilepsy, memory loss, anxiety, panic attacks, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Coupled with participation in a twelve step program Neurofeedback reduces the chance of addiction relapse by up to 77%. Under a physicians supervision Neurofeedback can reduce or even eliminate the need for medications associated with ADHD, depression, seizures and PTSD. Neurofeedback improves mental focus and peak performance for athletes, professionals, senior citizens and anyone who wants to think more clearly, improve their relationships and perform better in daily life. GOOD NEWS
Trip to Haiti When an earthquake struck Haiti in January of 2010 locals here in Sandpoint gathered together and with the help of First Baptist Church, headed to Haiti to help the locals recover from the devastation. The team consisted of 12 members, Pastor Nate and Amy Warren, Dan, Lori, Sophia, and Jennie Meulenberg; Jeannie Smith, Josh Trempert, Abbie Prummer, and Jon Cherry of Sandpoint were joined by Portland residents Chris Fountain and Brian Heerwagen. The team journeyed to Haiti through the mission agency Delta Ministries, of which Heerwagen is the CEO. The team traveled to a tent city in Leveque, about an hour drive from the city and quickly set up an impromptu medical clinic upon arrival. In addition the Sandpoint team members created relationships with the local youth through games, Bible lessons, and lessons on dental hygiene. On a Sunday, the team attended a local church and had the opportunity to see different areas of Port-au-Prince that had been devastated by the earthquake. Particularly striking was the Presidential Palace. A beautiful structure not unlike the U.S. Capitol Building, the Palace was destroyed in the earthquake. Where a park with green lawns and fountains once stood in front of the Palace, a tent city has arisen. Just imagine Sandpoint’s City Beach filled with thousands of tents with no running water or electricity. Children run everywhere in the dirt and the water is brown with mud. For the team members, many of whom had never experienced the poverty of a third-world country first-hand, and the devastation left behind from a natural disaster, the scene will never be forgotten. The team worked tirelessly throughout the trip which included teaching at a local nursing school, working at a nearby clinic, helping the construction of a local church, and conducting a children’s program that served the Haitian youth. The mission trip was a life-changing experience for all that joined and although the devastation was overwhelming, the Haitians are a resilient, generous, joyful people. It is the hope of each member that they will get the opportunity to return to Haiti in the future.

Two southern gentlemen are out hunting, and as they are walking along, they come upon a huge hole in the ground. They approach it and are amazed by the size of it. The first hunter says, “Wow, that’s some hole; I can’t even see the bottom. I wonder how deep it is.” The second hunter says, “I don’t know. Let’s throw something down and listen and see how long it takes to hit bottom.” The first hunter says, “There’s an old automobile transmission here. Give me a hand and we’ll throw it in and see.” So they pick it up and carry it over; count one, two, and three; and throw it in the hole. They are standing there listening and looking over the edge when they hear a rustling in the brush behind them. As they turn around, they see a goat come crashing through the brush, run up to the hole, and with no hesitation, jump in head first. While they are standing there looking at each other, looking in the hole, and trying to figure out what that was all about, an old farmer walks up. “Say there,” says the farmer, “you fellers didn’t happen to see my goat around here anywhere, did you?” The first hunter says, “Funny you should ask, but we were just standing here a minute ago and a goat came running out of the bushes doin’ about a hunert miles an hour and jumped headfirst into this hole here!” The old farmer said, “That’s impossible. I had him chained to a transmission!”

“I totally love Ed and the crew; they take care of me every time and got me in with no appointment.” -Al Bingham (Sandpoint, Idaho, Al Bingham Concrete) “Ken Yount went above and beyond the call of duty with service after the sale. On a Sunday he picked me up, helped me change a tire, and gave me a ride and a loaner. That is service after the sale.” -Dennis Warner (Bonners Ferry, Idaho) “Gene and Jerry provided me with outstanding customer service and did a professional job repairing my 2004 Toyota Sienna.” -Colin Schmuland (Yook, British Columbia)
