Presentation Komorebi was born in the year 2013 as a result of the activities held by Corazón Danza during 2012 & the various participations in different projects by the rest of the groupe’s members. The joint effort has already crossed international borders as the troupe has performed in international festivals & venues all around the world. Their first major work, “Hikari” (which means “Luminous” in japanese), lasts 40 minutes & integrates seamlessly several arts in a true multidisciplinary fashion, with live music by Hector Murrieta (who also plays works by Elliot Sharp, Alex Shapiro & Tristan Murail, dance/theater/coreography & video by Dora Hagerman, photography by Mara Arteaga, caligraphy by the italian artist Monica Cilmi &.The work has been performed in settings as varied as a psychiatric hospital in Spain, open air temples in Bali to more traditional settings like black boxes in N.Y., for example - all this throughout Indonesia, Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Canada and the United States of America. Personalities such as Elena Poniatowska (international prize winner writer), Diane Butler & Suprapto Suryodarmo (founders of Dharma Nature) to Barbara Dilley (former dancer at the Merce Cunningham company) have seen Komorebi performing live, to rave reviews by the company’s proposal. - *It seamlessly integrates all its different components, making it a true interdisciplinary piece with a profound subject & connotations* Barbara Dilley - *It’s a living prayer* Suprapto Suryodarmo Komorebi is currently engaged in the production process of several new works, amongst them “Entre el resonar y el razonar” & “7 Haikus alrededor del equilibrio” as part of an artistic research project. www.komorebiart.com

Objectives (short, mid and long-term goals) Komorebi Compañía’s short-term goals include a continuing series of presentations at different venues throughout several countries, both as parts of major festivals and as stand-alone dates, exploring several possible stage-configurations from typical theatre stages to intervened structures and public spaces in various cities on different countries. As far as mid-term goals go, Komorebi has been invited for additional presentations at Barcelona, Spain and Denver, United States. On July 2015, Komorebi has already been confirmed for a series of presentations taking place during Fringe Festival in San Diego, California, as well as Northern-Mexican Tour throughout four border-states in Mexico. The long term goals consist on the continual creation of more pieces to add to the company’s body of work, all aimed at expressing and pondering on significant moments in the lives of individuals, collectives and whole societies, all planned as vehicles for the integration of different artistic disciplines and creators to enrich the overall aesthetic experience offered by Komorebi Compañía.

Overview Hikari... Triptych which reveals the constant struggle between opposed forces that are paradoxically intertwined. From darkness, comes light. With light, comes searching. The search begets a desperation that threatens to consume it all and drag the subject to the deep dark, descending into the underworld. Nevertheless, even when sunk in the depths, the individual can surmount this disposition and grows, expanding like a song, like waves to light, from larva to butterfly... from searcher to Illuminated, going from internal journey to the plenitude of the Self. Hikari is an all-encompassing Multimedia Performance experience which combines contemporary dance, live music and video feeds, ambience lighting and live camera-work. The play itself last 40 minutes and is presented as triptych with two interludes, where all of the elements are featured. Hikari. Original idea by Dora Hagerman and HĂŠctor Murrieta.

Project Justification Hikari is the resulting effort after the joining of forces between dancer Dora Hagerman and guitarist Hector Murrieta and their manifest intentions of creating artistic experiences which are not restricted neither by space nor discourse. Once the starting choreographic proposals were completed by Ms. Hagerman, and the interludes and the musical explorations by Mr. Murrieta were completed—based on three pieces by contemporary authors: E. Sharp. T., Murail and A. Shapiro—Hikari came into being as a dramatic representation of the journey to self-discovery and the quest for Illumination, aimed at reaching audiences apparently too immersed in the generalized angst experienced by our current societies. It is Komorebi Compañía’s firm belief that this is significant effort towards the public’s sensitization through the use of dynamic metaphors expressed as a conjunction of movement, lighting, images and sound. Above all else, Komorebi aims to bring the spectator closer to the experience of discovering our Inner Light through the individual’s process of searching, falling into despair and exercising self-affirmation via one’s emotional and spiritual spaces; all presented as a homage, a promise and a celebration of this very act.

Target Audience Ever since its premiere Komorebi Comapñía’s members have been able to document that the attending audiences’ age-range is quite ample, going from 10 to 85 years old (as evidenced by Ms. Elena Poniatowska attendance on premiere night), all hailing from different socio-cultural and academic backgrounds. This is the reason why Komorebi believes its piece to be farreaching and suitable for all audiences interested in Dance and Contemporary Music, as well as in multimedia displays with durations over 30 minutes.

Show Synopsis Presented as triptych, the performance is divided in three movements and two interludes. The performance begins with the first piece “Seek” by E. Sharp, where the dancer interprets a choreography based on exploring the stage space with self-generated lighting, which pinpoints various possible destinations. Upon this pieces conclusion the first interlude (“Nieve” by H. Murrieta) begins as a projection intervening the stage. Immediately after it and in partial darkness, the second piece “Vampyr” by T. Murail begins. Here an ominous ambience is created by a conjunction of dance, lighting, music and guttural vocalizations. Once the piece is finished and after a few seconds of total darkness, the second interlude (“Agua” by H. Murrieta) and it gives way to the third and final piece in the performance: “Below” by A. Shapiro where the dancer starts immobile on a stool and then begins ever-expanding movements as the lights’ brightness increases gradually in order to paint the stage in blue. The projection of a single butterfly signals the end of the performance and the theatres lights are turned on.

Dora Hagerman she is a graduate from Naropa University as a BA in Dance & Movement Studies; she is also certified with the “From Feldenkrais Method to Dance” diploma under the tutelage of MoA Rebeca Sitt; also certified with the Theatre diploma course by the Universidad Iberoamericana. With a Classical Dance background spanning 10 years, she has also participated in various courses and training camps at INBA (Mexico’s Belle Arts National Institute), Switzerland, France and the United States of America. Minimum Technical Requirements: Technical Needs for ‘Hikar i’ Per formance 1) PA (theater sound system) or amplifier or sound monitors to connect an electric guitars. 2) one music stand 3) one or two projectors (we can bring one with us so we will need an electricity adaptor from US connection to Indonesia electric connection) 4) we need to be able to connect the sound to the computer From where the videos will besend to the projector. 5) 4 lights 6) the best is to have darkness when we performe the piece because the first fragment of the pice is performe with a costume that has flash lights on it. Projections 3x 3500-lumen projectors which will be used as follows: 1 for live-camera feed, 1 for videoprojections (pre-recorded) from source computer and 1 for auxiliary video feed from source-device. This are meant to be mounted one to the front, two on the sides of the stage (actual placement will be determined in situ).

Media Strategy a. For Printed Media Komorebi and the participating venue(s) or institution(s) will work in coordination for the printing of advertising materials (postcards, flyers, posters). Any printed press outlets will be welcomed and cartered to. b. For Electronic Mass Media (radio, television, internet.) The artists and crew are willing to attend all the media information needs as well as available for any interviews the participating venue(s) or institution(s) deem fit to invite or that happen to be interested in the company’s work. c. Estrategia en redes sociales (facebook, twitter, etc.) A special campaign will be started for each of the venues already confirmed for specific dates (on the company’s FB, Twitter and Instagram accounts, as well as affiliated or friendly artistic associates). In case of a series of presentations, a blog will be opened and promoted for the duration. Critical Path The company has already made more than 14 complete presentations at several venues in 3 countries and thus the pieces can be considered as being fully developed and ready for production on almost any given stage or convenient space. Thus the stage-prep CP has been planned and will always be executed as follows: 1. Confirmation of participation and planning of expenses and remuneration (when pertinent). 2. Date confirmation in the company’s and the venue’s general agenda. 3. Scouting by the technical crew for in situ resource assessment. 4. Renta de equipos (72 horas antes del evento), sólo en caso necesario. 5. General call for all of the company’s members (48 hours prior to the first date). 6. Montage and calibration of lightning resources (up to a maximum of 3 hours including open venues). 7. Montage and calibration of projection resources (up to a máximum of 2 hours, including open venues). 8. Montage and calibration of PA and other sound resources, soundcheck (1 hour including open venues). NOTE: All of these processes are held almost simultaneously and the maximum preparation time is calculated at a maximum of 5 hours. 9. Call for general practice (2 hours prior to First Call). 10. Disassembly (up to 2 hours for any kind of venue).
