LINCOLN UNIVERSITY 2021 SOFTBALL MEDIA GUIDE

Christine Core joined Lincoln as the head softball coach in June of 2018 and is in her third season with the Blue Tigers. Before COVID-19 cut short the 2020 season, Core had Lincoln positioned for one of the most successful campaigns in program history. The Blue Tigers opened the season 4-0 and went 8-2 at LU Softball Field, and the program held nine opponents to three or fewer runs while posting a pair of shutouts. During her first season, Core led LU to its highest victory total since 2014 and helped the Blue Tigers improve in nearly every offensive statistical category. Six Blue Tigers batted .275 or better in 2019, and the team hit 20 home runs, its highest total in four years. In addition to their improving play on the field, Core’s student-athletes have also excelled in the classroom, with 13 players earning academic recognition from the MIAA for posting cumulative grade point averages of 3.0 or higher in 2020. Under Core’s leadership, the Blue Tigers have received six MIAA Academic Excellence Awards, two MIAA Scholar Athlete Awards, and 24 appearances on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. Jordan Lawson, meanwhile, was named to the CoSIDA/Google Cloud Academic All-District first team in 2019.

Core was named as the GACA Coach of the Year that season, as well as the Georgia Dugout Club Coach of the Year. Core followed that phenomenal debut season by coaching Dade County to an Elite Eight appearance in the state tournament in 2013.
