LINCOLN UNIVERSITY 2021 SOFTBALL MEDIA GUIDE

Media Relations General Information The 2021 Lincoln Softball Media Guide was created specifically to assist writers, broadcasters and sports journalists with their coverage of LU softball. Requests for additional information should be directed to Dan Carr, Assistant AD for Media Relations. Media Credentials Credentials will be available only to members of accredited media outlets. Requests must be made at least two days prior to the contest. Credentials will be issued in accordance of MIAA and NCAA guidelines and at the discretion of the Lincoln athletic department. The seating available for visiting press is limited and will be assigned by LU staff on gameday. All credential requests should be directed to Dan Carr. Radio Broadcasts Any station wishing to broadcast during a Lincoln home game should contact the media relations office no later than 24 hours prior to gameday. Interview Policy All requests for interviews with any coach or player should be made through the office of athletic media relations. On game days, no interviews will be given until after the completion of the contest. Media members wishing to conduct postgame interviews with coaches or players should first contact Dan Carr, who will make the necessary arrangements. The LU locker room is closed to the media. Media wishing to interview Lincoln players on dates other than game days should contact the office of athletic media relations. Interviews will be set up on Lincoln's campus at times that are mutually beneficial to the player and the interviewer. Media members are asked to honor the athletic department's request to refrain from contacting LU athletes without first contacting Dan Carr. LU student-athletes have been instructed to decline interview requests not made through the office of athletic media relations. The 2021 Lincoln softball media guide was designed, written and edited by Dan Carr, Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations. Special thanks go to the fellow media relations and sports information directors in the MIAA, as well as to Lincoln's Office of University Relations. Pictures of Lincoln's athletes and campus were taken, and used with permission, by Dan Carr, Keena Lynch, Tyler Beck, Matthew S. Hicks and Joshua Moffett as well as various friends and family members of the Lincoln softball team. The cover was designed by Keena Lynch. Dan Carr joined the staff at Lincoln as the Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations in 2011. He is in his 10th year as a member of the Blue Tiger athletic department. Carr serves as the primary media contact for all 11 of Lincoln’s Division II teams, and is responsible for the writing, design and editing of all media guides and press releases. Among his main duties are maintaining and updating the athletic department’s website, recording statistics and working with various media outlets to promote all of Lincoln’s student athletes. For the past eight years, Carr has also served on the MIAA Basketball Championship committee, helping to organize and coordinate the conference’s post-season basketball tournaments. Carr, a member of CoSIDA, was the on-site media relations coordinator when Lincoln hosted the 2014 MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships and the 2012 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Regional. In his time at Lincoln, Carr has also covered four teams that have won NCAA Division II national championships. Prior to coming to Lincoln, Carr worked as a sports information assistant at Cleveland State University, where he served as the primary media contact for seven of the school’s 17 Division I sports. In 2011 he handled all the media relation duties for the Horizon League Swimming & Diving Championships and also worked with members of the press when the school hosted second and third round games of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship. Carr also has experience in television, as he worked for BCSN, a cable sports network in the Toledo, Ohio area before entering the field of sports information. Carr recorded stats, did camera work and created graphics for a wide variety of high school and college sporting events. Born and raised in Ohio, Carr began his athletic career as a student assistant in Denison University’s sports information department from 2003-2005, ultimately graduating in 2005 with degrees in communication and theatre. Carr and his wife, Joni, reside in Jefferson City.
