We have since realized that we provided you with incorrect phone number for Yellow Cab Co. The correct phone number is (209) 465-5721. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. A little about Yellow Cab Co., they have been a responsible and successful business with a presence in Stockton since 1948 and current owner, Don Bowman, has held control since 1978. T

he staff at Great Spectacles knows that there’s more to a pair of glasses than just the prescription. This year, they’re celebrating twenty-five successful years in business with a remodel, proving that they’re ready for the future. It was in November of 1990 that Stockton native Lynda Winter, a licensed optician, purchased an optical shop on Robinhood Drive. She had spent twenty years working for three different optometrists, a career path she hadn’t planned on, but liked from the beginning. In 2002, the store moved to their current location in Lincoln Center, and in mid-July they began an extensive remodel that was just completed last month. Energy efficient lighting, sky lights, a vaulted ceiling, an outdoor patio area, and an expanded men’s section are the highlights of the update.

Amy Ascencio, Lynda Winter and Tara Heredia

The store features a wide variety of frames, as well as non-prescription sunglasses and readers, for both men and women. Some of the brands you can find at Great Spectacles are Chanel, Face a Face, Oliver Peoples, Tom Ford, Dior Homme, Giorgio Armani, Tiffany & Co., LA Eyeworks, and many, many more. “We know every frame is unique, so we consider the prescription as well as bone structure, eye color, skin tone, and all around lifestyle needs,” said Lynda. “We are here to make sure you not only see better but you leave feeling better, wearing your new look.” Years of experience making adjustments promise a comfortable fit, and the latest technology in materials will give you premium quality lenses with warranted nonglare and blue light protection. You can also bring in your glasses for minor repairs. And their annual sale, which takes place every January, is a must attend event.

As for shoes, everything from classics such as Converse and Tom’s are in stock, as well as Lucky Brand. And there aren’t just shoes for adults and children — they also carry infant shoes. Pendleton’s popular beach towels are also in supply, as well as Jansport backpacks. While Dave opened the first McCaulou’s store in 1963, he got his start in the department store business by working at F.W. Woolworth’s at age twelve. His team is also as well established as he is. Most of his management team has been with the company for over twenty years, some even longer than that. His son, daughter, and granddaughter are also involved with the stores. “We look forward to serving this community,” said Dave. “Lincoln Center has a unique atmosphere to it. When we saw that, we thought we could be a perfect fit.” n

Just a few of the other brands that can be found in the men’s section are Nautica, Volcom, Levi’s, and Woolrich. DKNY and Anne Klein are carried in the women’s sleepwear and lingerie sections, and for everyday clothes,

Are you ready for the holidays?

‘Tis the Season to be Busy Staying Jolly in a Season of Busyness By: Cathy Francis, PsyD, MFT

The hustle and bustle of the holidays can leave even the most ‘put-together’ person feeling emotionally run down. As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I know just how important it is to be proactive in guarding your mental and emotional health, especially during the holidays. Don’t wait until you’re down in the dumps to make a change, resolve to live a happier, healthier life today. Adopt these four resolutions for the holidays & beyond: 1. Enjoy the moment. When life feels overwhelming remember to pause and be grateful for the things that bring joy to your life, in this present moment. 2. Simplify your to-do list. Having too much on your plate can be a recipe for an emotional meltdown. Try to scale back your activities and obligations. 3. Be kind to your body. One of the best ways to reduce stress and improve your mood is to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Try to eat healthy & get regular exercise, yes, even during the holidays. 4. Try to tame those negative thoughts. Our thoughts and our responses to the cards we are dealt in life can be the difference between living happily ever after and not really living at all.

Theadora... Clothing and intimates you will love living life in.

Cathy Francis, PsyD, MFT, is the Social Services Director at St. Joseph's Behavioral Health Center. St. Joseph’s Behavioral Health Center is committed to meeting the behavioral health needs of our community by providing high quality compassionate care, and creating an atmosphere that fosters communication, trust, and personal growth.

News fromTHE KI TC HENSIDE

The KitchenSide A

Julie Van Noate of Best Wishes

s we move from one Holiday to the next I wanted to first thank each and every one of you that so generously donated to the victims of the horrible fires that took place this fall. Our hearts were warmed by the thoughtful gestures of many who didn’t bring in anything from home but that actually bought new items from The KitchenSide to give. To those of you who brought shopping bags full of gently used necessities to fill the empty drawers and cupboards of those who lost so much... we know how grateful they will be. We are truly touched... and touched again by those of you that took the time to vote The KitchenSide #1 for Housewares in The Record’s Best of San Joaquin. We knew a few years back that there was a niche to be filled and feel like we have accomplished a lot when receiving the news of this award! Thank you to all who continue to support and SHOP SMALL! We will continue to offer the best products and service we can. We have been busy around here...VERY BUSY! The KitchenSide is overflowing with great Christmas gift ideas and essentials for your holiday cooking and baking! Our shelves are stocked with the best of the best in cookware and bakeware (Swiss Diamond, Le Creuset, USA pans). The walls are full of gadgets, dishtowels, glassware, gourmet foods... New to the KitchenSide is “Q squared.” I initially spied this line in a darling store in Seattle and made it my mission to be sure it was here and available for the holidays. Although I personally have never been a fan of melamine (which is making a huge comeback by the way) this line is incredible! Everyone I have showed it to has been impressed by the quality and design. Perfect serving pieces and great gifts!

Q Squared and Simply Scrumptious Peppermint Crunch

As always we will have lots of hostess gifts available for the holidays... plate and napkin ensembles, Brie bakers and toppers, delicious dips, Elaine’s Toffee, Simply Scrumptious Peppermint Crunch (and darling candy bowls to put them in!). We have lots and lots to choose from. Oh and be sure to try Jody’s Gourmet Popcorn (caramel, kettle, double cheddar and sugar free!), also a new find! We are excited for the holidays and especially grateful to each of you for your continued support! We are looking forward to seeing you this holiday season. Merry Christmas from all of us at Best Wishes and The KitchenSide!

Presents Some Facts About Botox! B

otox therapy is the most widely performed cosmetic procedure in America today. After a certain age, most faces benefit from a little editing. Those horizontal and vertical lines on the forehead as well as the crow’s feet around the eyes often appear to make us look angry or irritated when we are not.

Beore

After

Beore

After

Botox, a muscle relaxant, is injected into those areas to eliminate or diminish the lines and wrinkles. The procedure lasts approximately ten minutes from beginning to end and is relatively painless. There are a few ways to extend the effects of Botox significantly. Try applying products such as SkinMedica TNS or Regenica tissue nutrient solution. These products are composed of peptides, vitamins, and a host of other anti-aging products, which can benefit Botox tremendously. Freshness of the product and expertise of the physician are important factors when choosing a dermatologist to provide this service. Dr. Prescott has over 15 years experience with Botox therapy. Our aim at Central Valley Dermatology is to give you a refreshed, relaxed look. For further information on Botox or other skin care procedures, feel free to call us at 477-7546 or visit our website at cvderm.com. n
