Spring has sprung and windows are popping with color and fashion at Fina, Flair Boutique, Theodora, Chico’s, McCaulou’s Department Store and others. Look for our spring fashion spread on Page 10 and 11 for all the latest trends, ideas and inspiration. There are a lot of festivities coming up this month such as Mother’s Day, Garden Fair, and Memorial Day (check out our RSVP section on Page 24 for a complete list of area happenings). May is a busy time and a great opportunity for updating your wardrobe and doing something for you! And don’t forget to shop early for your Mother’s Day gifts and book your brunch reservations at one of Lincoln Center’s premier eateries. I am very proud and extremely grateful for all of the ways Lincoln Center and our merchants give back to the community, and the entrepreneurial spirit that lies at the heart of the businesses here. As yet another generation of area high school seniors prepare to graduate this month, I am thrilled to announce the recipients of this year’s Lincoln Center Scholarship. Meet these well-deserving future leaders on Page 14. Our featured merchant this month is Cornerstone Real Estate — one of our newest businesses to move into the Center. You can also read about how Ben Mackie Spin & Movement is changing the face of exercise in our “Health and Beauty” section, and in our “Know Your Neighbor” section, it is our pleasure to introduce you to Alyssa Del Carmen from Planet Beach. Lincoln Center proudly supports UOP Athletics, and its baseball season. May 4th is a perfect time to come out to Klein Family Field and cheer on the Tigers — there are several local players on the team such as Shelby Lackey, Linden High; Justin Giovanonni Linden High; Zack Vater, Franklin High; Nate Verlin, Lincoln High; and Charlie Johnson, St. Mary’s High. Lincoln Center merchants will be on display around the ballpark as well as special giveaways every inning. Don’t miss this family-fun evening! And last — but in no way least — our cover this month highlights four generations of very special ladies: Lana Rogerson; Jill Mancebo; Kate Guntert; and Eden Guntert. I want to thank them for the many years of support here at Lincoln Center and their positive impact in our community. In gratitude,

CLEANING A CLEAN
Spring is a season of new life and fresh starts. Everything gets a transformation in springtime, and so can you. Use this new season as a chance to rid your life of clutter, both physical and mental.
HOME IS A
HAPPY HOME
The important thing to remember is that this doesn’t need to be a huge overhaul. If you are feeling overwhelmed, pick a project to focus on, just one. By keeping your goals simple and attainable, you avoid feeling as though you have bitten off more than you can chew, and gives you the oh-so satisfying feeling of checking things off your to-do list. The easiest place to start is with things that are no longer serving you. Look around your space. Has it been used in 6 months? No? Get rid of it. If you haven’t needed or thought about it in that long, chances are, it isn’t essential and can be given or thrown away. Depending on your project, you can also cut down on clutter by getting rid of expired items. That eyeliner pencil that you’ve had for 5 years? That can definitely be thrown away.
B.E. F.A.S.T.
Learn to Recognize Stroke A stroke is a serious, potentially life-threatening medical emergency. It happens when blood flow to the brain is interrupted, caused by bleeding or a blood clot. The best way to prevent further complications from a stroke is to know the symptoms and how to respond. If you’re unsure if someone is having a stroke, use the BE FAST method:
B E F A S T
Once you’ve rid yourself of inessentials, develop a plan of organization that makes sense for your everyday routine. Cutting down on physical clutter in your home in turn helps declutter your mental space, giving you a fresh perspective for a fresh new season of life.
Balance: Is there a sudden loss of balance or coordination? Eyes: Are there sudden vision changes? Face: Is the face or smile lopsided? Arms: Does one arm droop? Speech: Trouble speaking? Time: If yes for any of the questions above, call 911 right away.
St. Joseph’s Medical Center is a designated Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission, a distinction recognizing facilities that follow best practices for stroke care. That means if you’re experiencing symptoms of a stroke, you’ll be well cared for at St. Joseph’s. Call our Stroke Patient Navigator at 209.939.4576 to learn more.

SCHOLARSHIPS 2017-2018
The Lincoln Center Scholarship Program
Nine Local High School Seniors Receive Scholarships from Lincoln Center We were extremely honored to meet this year’s Lincoln Center Scholarship recipients at a luncheon at Papapavlo’s Bistro and Bar in March. Hailing from various high schools all over San Joaquin County, we’re confident these extremely well-rounded teens are sure to be successful wherever their college choices lead them. These beneficiaries are moving forward with decided majors such as political science, pediatrics and environmental science to name a few. Their academic spirit and drive is truly inspiring.
Think lovely thoughts this Spring, Theadora girl.
Mother’s love is peace. It need not be acquired, it need not be deserved
Erich Fromm
In its 5th year, more than $7,000 in scholarship money was awarded. The Scholarships are funded through proceeds generated at the Lincoln Center Classic Car Show held each August. High school seniors with a 3.0 GPA or higher attending school in San Joaquin County were eligible to apply. The 2018-19 Lincoln Center Scholarship Program applications will be available in October of this year. STAY INFORMED BY VISITING:

ALYSSA DEL CARMEN | PLANET BEACH STORE MANAGER
Tell us three of your favorite things about working at Planet Beach. Working for Planet Beach has given me a new outlook on life. I value health and wellness and self-care much more and I am able to incorporate these aspects in my everyday routine. One of my favorite things about working for Planet Beach would be the people that come into the spa. I love the diversity and being able to help those who come to us wanting to achieve their selfcare goals, relax from a stressful day, and look and feel their very best. Also, I value and enjoy my employees, they are a huge part of the spa’s success. Lastly, I love coming to a place where it doesn’t feel like work, it’s just something I absolutely love doing! Use three words to describe yourself. I am resourceful, passionate, and caring. I am able to make the most with what is given to me while working towards my goals. I love what I do and the people I get to serve; I truly care about each individual that comes into my life. Where did you grow up? I was born and raised in Stockton. What is the one thing you’ve learned the most in your current position? There is no “I” in TEAM. The spa wouldn’t be as successful without a great support system. I am lucky to have the owners of Planet Beach, my employees and my wonderful members, Dan & Marvis Gatto, right there by my side. We’re a family and I wouldn’t be in the position I am today without them! What’s the most popular service at the salon? That’s a tough one! I would definitely say that our Fit Body Wrap, Slim Capsule, Hydration and HOTWORX are high demand with our members! Any of these are a must try at our spa. Tell us about HOTWORX! HOTWORX is one of the fastest trending Hot Exercise workouts around. An innovative new workout routine that uses the combination of infrared heat and Isometric postures to give
you the perfect 30-minute workout! Our location offers 6 different class options from Hot Yoga, Hot Pilates, Hot Warrior, Hot ISO, Hot Buns, and Hot Core that can fit anyone’s needs.
What is one thing you are most proud of? I’m most proud of my daughter and the person she is becoming. She reminds me to laugh, have fun, and not take life too seriously. What do you do for fun? I love going on mommy-daughter adventures with my little one. Some of the things we love doing together are Disneyland, camping, being on the softball field and hanging out at the movies. What’s a quote or mantra you live by? Every day is a new beginning. Take a deep breath. Smile. And start again. What is your dream vacation? I’ve always wanted to vacation in the Caribbean. Something about tropical places, warm weather, and a nice cocktail seems fitting. Do you have advice for someone that’s intimidated to try the services at Planet Beach? Don’t be! All the girls at the spa are extremely friendly and inviting! We have something for everybody, and we would love to help you reach your personal goals! Tell us about your involvement with the community. I love Stockton. It’s my home. I am passionate about staying involved in my community. I’ve been involved in a lot of different aspects of the community such as coaching girls’ high school softball, volunteering at the local food bank, and fundraising for local charities and nonprofit organizations. I believe that coming together and befriending one another creates a stronger bond as a community. THE OUTFIT: Alyssa’s top and pants are

STRENGTH & STABILITY BY KELLY O'MOORE
This month’s featured merchant is Cornerstone Real Estate Group. Having recently opened their brandnew office in the Center, we thought it was the perfect time to introduce them to our LC community! “Cornerstone is all about being helpful,” says owner Randy Thomas, “we’ve even gone so far as to pet sit for a client while she house-hunted out of town!” Cornerstone is a full-service real estate group, providing a first-rate concierge service to all of their clients. This service includes everything from recommending contractors, to working with clients’ schedules to provide services at all hours of the day. They also provide free access to drone footage of the listed property so that the client can better market their home to potential buyers. “This is the largest transaction people will ever make in their life,” says Thomas, “so we want to really be there for them.” Not only does Cornerstone provide unsurpassable >>

customer care, they also have success to back up their guarantees. Last year, five of their eight agents made master’s club, meaning they are among the top one percent of San Joaquin County realtors. They have also been cited as the fastest growing independent real estate company in the San Joaquin County area. Within his team of realtors, Thomas strives to provide the best possible training and continuing education for his agents. He describes his team as “students of real estate economics,” as they endeavor to stay ahead of real estate trends and changes. He deems Cornerstone “a place for serious realtors” who desire to learn and grow long-term in the industry. He also boasts an extremely diverse team, which reflects the diversity of San Joaquin County. Cornerstone also incorporates community service into their business with their partnership with Habitat for Humanity. Inspired by the work of the shoe brand, TOMS, Thomas instituted the “sell one, build one” program. If a client decides to sell their home within this program, the agent will take ten percent of their own commission and donate it to Habitat for Humanity in the client’s name.

BEN MACKIE SPIN & Movement BY TARA RUSHING
At Ben Mackie Spin & Movement, it’s all about the body.
Burn calories, feel good, & find your movement. The new studio offers a variety of classes ranging from themed spin classes to different types of yoga, and barre classes. It’s also the only studio in our county that is a certified Spinning® studio. This means that every bike that is in the spin room is identified as a specific Spinner® for indoor cycling with a patented model of stationary exercise bikes.
BEN MACKIE OWNER
SPIN
So what is Spin? The Spinning® program offered at Ben Mackie Spin & Movement is a comprehensive indoor cycling program. Spin includes features that take advantage of the patented Spinner® stationary bike, heart rate training, motivational materials and exercise sets directed at various fitness goals. Our favorite part is after burning all your calories, being greeted with a cool towel acented with eucalyptus to help your cool down.
YOGA
Barre Teachers: Stacia, Tina
SPIN TEACHERS: (LEFT TO RIGHT) KAT, KRYSTAL, TINA AND TONY
There are a variety of yoga classes offered at Ben Mackie Spin & Movement. The newest yoga to come to the studio is Buti Yoga (pronounced booty) is a power style yoga, adopted through tribal movements from Africa and India. Similar to other practices of yoga, where you settle into a pose to hold for an extended period of time. Buti Yoga encourages you to move. Changing every movement as the beat of the music changes, you create a spiral
structure of your core through your ribs and hips. This activates your lymphatic system to get things moving — including waking up your Shakti, releasing energy in the body to allow for different emotional experiences.
BARRE
Barre is a combination of micro-movements working your smaller muscles anywhere from 30 to 60 reps. “I make two pounds feel like 20.” says Stacia Lassaro, instructor at the studio. Movements must be executed in great form and everything flows through your core, using your muscles in the same way you use them daily, creating an injury prevention envrionment. Ben Mackie Spin & Movement also offers a Hot Barre class with a temperature reaching over 90 degrees.

FOUR generations
All things Family:
Enjoying the picturesque location of Stama Winery in Lodi, Lana Rogerson, Jill Mancebo, and Kate and Eden Guntert model the latest Spring fashions directly from Lincoln Center. With Mother’s Day fast approaching on Sunday, May 13, we looked to this four-generation clan to highlight some of the ideal looks for this season’s festivities. This family has been frequenting the Center for decades and have always been loyal and valued customers. Their ideal day at Lincoln Center includes a delicious brunch at Market Tavern, followed by browsing the latest trends at FINA. Perfectly dressed from head to toe in LC fashions, GreatGrammie Lana sports Flair Boutique, Gigi Jill rocks FINA, momma Kate stuns in Theodora, and baby Eden is cute as can be in Sassy Pants Children’s Boutique.
