LINCOLN CENTER CHRONICLE
Tis the season! It is the most wonderful time of the year — and our favorite time in the Center. There’s something magical about walking past the North Pole on the way to the Christmas tree while passing each of the store windows that are decorated high to low. As the Marketing Department, we spend most of our year planning these final months of the year, and with that in mind, Phil Johnson thought he’d pass the “Editorial” torch to us for the last month of 2017. It’s such an honor to be a part of Lincoln Center and the Chronicle. Everything we do in the Marketing Department is for you, the community. There's nothing better after all the hard work than seeing the faces of all the children when they get that first sight of Santa.

KNOW YOUR NEIGHBOR
M I CH A EL H I L L Owner, Limitless Escape Games New this month to Lincoln Center is Limitless Escape Games – immersive, live action adventures where you must escape in 60 minutes by searching for clues and solving puzzles. Bring your friends, coworkers, kids, etc. and see if you can escape! What is your favorite TV show? Currently, I am really into the show Billions.
Describe yourself using three words. Ambitious, Dedicated, Honest.
Tell us more about Limitless Escape Games. For us, it's all about fun. We are focused on the player's experience first and foremost, which really sets us apart from other escape games. When you play our games, we make sure you have a great time win or lose, and we try to make the experience special for each group. It's the only place where you can be the captain of a pirate ship, or rob a bank with your friends without going to jail! If you’re 10 years old or 70 years old you get to be the hero for an hour, and you get to escape reality.
Who are the people that mean the most to you? My wife, Brook and my daughter, Sienna.
What is your favorite escape room theme? I love pirates! It's the kid in me wanting to be Peter Pan. What is your favorite movie? The Usual Suspects. What do you like to do on your days off? I have very few days off so when I do get downtime I spend it with my family, or I play escape games. What is your favorite food? Mexican food without a doubt – I could eat tacos literally every day. How many people can fit in one escape room? Up to 10 players can play an adventure at once. You can book a whole room with your coworkers or friends, or you can go with just one other person for date night for example, and join a group.
What made you want to get into this business? After I played my first escape game on a business trip in Austin I immediately fell in love with the concept. I knew I had to get involved in something this exciting and cutting-edge. There is no other experience like it. What’s on your bucket list? I would love to go on a safari in Africa one day! What is your favorite thing about working at Limitless? I love being my own boss. It's also really fun going from working in technology to designing a pirate ship with secret doors and magic! What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Anything with caramel! Do most people who try the escape rooms escape in the hour time limit? Not everyone escapes, but one of the qualities that appealed to me was even if you don't win, it's still so much fun and you want to go back and try more rooms. It gets very addictive. Do you have any tips for escape room beginners? Regardless of how many people are playing, the key to escaping is teamwork and great communication. Oh, and don't put keys in your pockets! n

LINCOLN CENTER CHRONICLE | DECEMBER 2017
For those of us in business, the end of year is for looking back and finding out how we scored, both on the professional and personal level, deciding what we can be proud of and what we need to work on. Are we pleased with the yields of the last year or are we writing new plans for the next? We need to keep in mind that these evaluations are personal and what makes sense to the brain behind the business needs to fuel the fire of intent inside the business. The salon I've now owned for 13 of my 34 years is a reflection of me (no pun intended). It's the outward expression of a young man's attempt to be good to people that work hard for their families and for life's little luxuries. It attracts those who have hustled their whole lives for what they want, have kept a happy disposition and make the best of every day. We at the salon all understand the language of love and speak it fluently to clients and each other. This is my tribe. During my last credit card bill I realized that I belong to Lincoln Center's Market Tavern tribe as well. Those involved in the financing, structuring, and staffing didn’t know that they were creating a place for Brady Davis to be the first person ever to have autopay set up at a restaurant (kidding!). I eat, work, socialize and SOMETIMES have a drink or two (wink, wink) because I love and thrive in that particular environment. No one knew they were building a place for people like me to do our dance with (semi)grace amongst friends and colleagues over food and drink made special for us but they did. Personally, this last year has stretched my heart and mind in ways I wasn’t ready for and didn’t necessarily want to participate in. But through these trials I received a valuable gift that is more precious to me than any tax return or vacation getaway. It is a mindset shift that allows me to remove myself from taking things personally. Two overarching ideas help me remain on my best path: 1. Move toward things that I identify as 'good' for me or that make me feel something positive. 2. Do my best at whatever I do, leaving me free from the weight of a ‘negative’ outcome. Identifying myself in something is my new compass in life. Intuition. Gut feeling. God's intention. Whatever you call it, but undoubtedly something speaks to you. I ask myself the simple question: Is this 'To Me or Not To Me?'. My big shift in mindset came to me as I was in traveling to the UK in May/June of this year to study under Matthew Curtis, a hairstylist and owner of 4 salons in and around London, England. (Matthew is a friend of Ben Mackie who just opened his spin/barre/yoga studio to accompany his fitness studio in Lincoln Center. It's very impressive, check it out.) That phrase almost felt whispered in my ear one night, just a couple of days before first meeting up with Curtis: "To Me or Not To Me?" It was later validated when I finished my 2nd of 6 days in Curtis' in vogue hair studio located in Stratford-upon-Avon, a medieval market town in England's West Midlands. It is best known for being the birthplace of William Shakespeare, who's "To Be, or Not To Be" line from Hamlet is one of the most well-known of his many works. Since our inboxes are full of garbage, we need to stick with quality. Quantity doesn’t work anymore. You must tailor everything to your personal strengths and weaknesses to be your authentic self and make sense to your tribe. Finding yourself in things is the truest path through happiness, not to happiness. True happiness isn't a destination, but a byproduct of an experience. Experiences help shape you into a better version of yourself, one that is a lighthouse for you and those like you. This time of year reminds us to appreciate the unending list of things that make our life so colorful. Let us enjoy our people this holiday season, keeping in mind that we are all different and though we don’t always see eye-to-eye we are all in search of happiness. Everyone just wants to be in a happy mode for most of the day. Put aside time this holiday to reach out to those who have wronged you or have fallen below your personal hopes for them. Life is complicated because we are individuals trying to make sense of emotions that don't have simple answers. Life is like a diamond where each surface can be touched by light and remind us how lucky we are to take in the wonders and beauty of a planet in bloom. Make memories this year by putting the extra into people instead of presents. Things lose their value, thoughts don't. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everybody!!! Let's see what we have in store for 2018!!! Brady Davis and The B Hive Hair Salon family. P.S. If you made it to the end of this whole letter without tossing it in the holiday fire, seven blessings to you. I understand that the fire needs to stay lit because as we all know…

The business began as a small men’s and boy’s shoe concession in 1959. It then moved into its current location on the Brickwalk in Lincoln Center in 1964. Dennis Shea Shoes became its own storefront in 1974, and has resided on the Brickwalk ever since. Dennis Shea joined his father’s business in 1971. While the father-son duo worked together in the early years, they built a strong foundation. “It was fun to work with him. It was a great opportunity to get to know him and spend time with him. We had a great relationship,” said Dennis. Throughout the years, Dennis added women’s and kids’ shoes to his collection. The store currently sells some of the most highly-rated, popular shoe brands for men and women of all ages. From Birkenstocks to Via Spiga to Uggs, Allen Edmonds and more, Dennis Shea Shoes has something for everyone. Dennis’s personal favorite for style and comfort? Cole Haan. “It’s nice to get something that looks good but also has support that you can wear every day.” Its quality products aren’t the only thing that sets Dennis Shea Shoes apart from competitors. “Customer service is one of our stronger assets. We try to make sure things fit correctly and give customers all the help we can give them,” said Dennis. “Our mission is to make sure that we give people the right product and the right fit,” he said. Dennis continues his father’s legacy by his dedication to his business, customers and the community. His loyalty to his customers has brought back familiar faces into his store throughout several decades. “We’ve made friends over the years that are so loyal to us and come back for generations.”

‘Tis the Season to be Busy Staying Jolly in a Season of Busyness By: Cathy Francis, PsyD, MFT
The hustle and bustle of the holidays can leave even the most ‘put-together’ person feeling emotionally run down. As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I know just how important it is to be proactive in guarding your mental and emotional health, especially during the holidays. Don’t wait until you’re down in the dumps to make a change, resolve to live a happier, healthier life today. Adopt these four resolutions for the holidays & beyond: 1. Enjoy the moment. When life feels overwhelming remember to pause and be grateful for the things that bring joy to your life, in this present moment. 2. Simplify your to-do list. Having too much on your plate can be a recipe for an emotional meltdown. Try to scale back your activities and obligations. 3. Be kind to your body. One of the best ways to reduce stress and improve your mood is to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Try to eat healthy & get regular exercise, yes, even during the holidays. 4. Try to tame those negative thoughts. Our thoughts and our responses to the cards we are dealt in life can be the difference between living happily ever after and not really living at all.
OH, CHRISTMAS TREE!
Cathy Francis, PsyD, MFT, is the Social Services Director at St. Joseph's Behavioral Health Center. St. Joseph’s Behavioral Health Center is committed to meeting the behavioral health needs of our community by providing high quality compassionate care, and creating an atmosphere that fosters communication, trust, and personal growth.
You’ve enjoyed it for the season ... now it’s time to begin the new year! Before setting your Christmas Tree at the curb, remove tinsel, ornaments and stands. If it is taller than six feet, it must be cut in half! Flocked trees will be collected, but not recycled. Then place it next to your carts for your waste hauler to collect and recycle. DATES FOR COLLECTION BY REPUBLIC SERVICES City of Stockton: December 26 - January 19 County: January 8 - 19

1 Free checks must be ordered through F&M Bank’s check printer of choice. For all check orders, customer pays tax, shipping, and tracking changes. 2 Ask your banker for information on the terms and condition of these services. 3 Up to $10 for checks and debit cards from another financial institution given at the time the checks/debit cards are presented within 30 days of account opening. 4 Your account will receive a refund which will be posted at the end of your account statement cycle for a maximum of $20 for any foreign ATM fees from non-F&M Bank ATM usage within the United States posted during your account statement cycle. Your refund will be forfeited if your account is closed prior to the end of the statement cycle. Transactions that are conducted at or near the end of your statement cycle period may not post to your account for a few business days depending upon the processing method the non-F&M Bank ATM provider uses, and thus would be eligible for a refund in the next statement cycle period. In addition, foreign ATM fees will post to your account as they occur and will lower your actual available balance until they are offset by the refund that occurs on the last day of your account statement cycle. 5 Safe Deposit Boxes are not available at all branch locations and are subject to availability. There is a one-time $20 Safe Deposit Box key fee. 6 We reserve the right to substitute a gift of similar value. Free gift may be reported on a 1099-NT or 1099-MISC. Free gift provided at the time of account opening. Free gift includes displayed items only. Minimum opening deposit is only $50. Low $10 monthly charge if average daily balance is below $2,500. Ask us for details. Refer to the Customer Agreement & Schedule of Charges, Books I & II, for additional information on account terms and other fees may apply.
