LINCOLN CENTER CHRONICLE

Summer has arrived, and I am excited!

374 Lincoln Center Stockton, CA 95207

I love summer. And I love Lincoln Center in the warm months of June, July and August. As a kid growing up in Stockton, summer officially kicked off on that magical day in June when school was let out. I can still remember the excitement, and fidgeting in my school desk chair, just waiting for that bell to ring! I hope this preview of our upcoming summertime events makes you as excited as I am.

We are kicking off the fun in June with our popular Wine Stroll featuring many local wineries. This year’s stroll benefits one of our favorite charities: Haven of Peace (on behalf of the Junior League of San Joaquin County). Haven of Peace is an emergency homeless shelter for women and children located in French Camp. The shelter offers an amazing service to the community with the ultimate goal of self-sufficiency.

PUBLISHERS

Every Friday evening, throughout the month of July, Lincoln Center will feature a fun and family friendly event sure to delight young and old: including live music, a rock climbing wall, movie night and much, much more.

PUBL ICATION DIRECTOR

As the dog days of summer really start heating up in August, the Classic Car Show is back. After making it’s first appearance at the Center back in the late 60’s/early 70’s, we’re excited for what this year’s Car Show has in store. Come check out our first annual fireworks show, and even more food and refreshment choices for the entire family. We will also have two beer gardens, one near Squeeze Burger and the other called King’s Pit (featuring our very own Don King and Mike Midgley), that will be located near the Brickwalk on Benjamin Holt Drive.

Photography Deadline to submit newsworthy information from non-profit and charitable organizations is the 1st of each month for the following month’s issue. Submitting information does not guarantee it will be featured in print. Submit information online at LincolnCenterShops.com. The Lincoln Center Chronicle is published monthly by Lincoln Properties, Ltd. and is distributed free of charge to more than 65,000 homes in Stockton, Linden, Lockeford, Lodi and Woodbridge. This month’s featured merchant is McCaulou’s Department Store. Since opening over 18 months ago, McCaulou’s has been dedicated to customer service and the shopper’s experience. Listening to the feedback of our community, they redesigned the entry way to the store, and opened aisle ways to create a more open air environment — all to enhance your shopping experience. With Father’s Day being June 18, McCaulou’s was the perfect choice for outfitting our cover models: Russ and Carter Bowers (posing at their ranch in Farmington). The two men are sporting Levi’s and button-ups from their favorite store in Lincoln Center. See page 4 for more on this father-son rancher duo. Last month we celebrated mom; in June we celebrate Dad. There is nothing that brings me greater joy than being father to my four beautiful children: Melissa, Katlyn, Zachary and Charlie. I celebrate each of their milestones with tremendous joy! And if they are reading this, and are in need of inspiration to help celebrate “Dad’s Day,” they can turn to page 17 for things Fat City Brew and BBQ Supply has to offer, as well as check out the many assorted shops throughout the Center for great gift ideas. I hope you enjoyed this preview of summer at Lincoln Center. Stay cool, and I hope to see you around the Center!

ON THE C OVER

O

ut on the north forty of their cattle ranch in Farmington, we rounded-up father & son duo, Russ and Carter Bowers. Russ, a Lincoln High School graduate, lives in Morada and enjoys spending time with his son at their scenic foothill getaway. Carter is currently 11 years old and a 5th grader at Brookside Elementary School. Lovers of the outdoors, both dad and son enjoy fishing and riding four wheelers. Carter also devotes a lot of time to playing baseball. Perfectly dressed for country life and wearing their own cowboy boots and hats, Russ is wearing a plaid shirt and denim jeans and Carter is sporting denim jeans and a blue button up – all available at McCaulou’s Department Store. n

F

ounded in 1957, Haven of Peace is the first homeless shelter for women and children founded in San Joaquin County. Located in French Camp, Haven of Peace welcomes all homeless women and children in need, whether they’re facing domestic violence, incarceration or addiction. Olga Rodriguez, the Executive Director, strives every day through God to keep these women safe and cultivate an environment at the Haven where programs and tools are available for those who want help. For those who don’t, she kindly continues to show support and respect. She approaches each woman and child that walks through the door with love. We are honored to host Haven of Peace through Junior League of San Joaquin County as the beneficiary for this year’s Wine Stroll at Lincoln Center. Please stop by to say hello to Olga and learn more about how you can help Haven of Peace at the Wine Stroll on June 16th from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. Oh, It’s Summer Time. Little League Games, backyard BBQ’s and picnics in the park! Wonderful gatherings, coupled with lots of yummy food, means soda cans and water bottles going into the trash. Keep a trash bag handy so all of those recyclable materials can be gathered. And at the end of the day, drop them off at the recycling center, add to your curbside recycling, or better yet, give to the neighborhood little league team to cash in for their “Championship Game” party! It’s easy. Recycle.
