who donated, the Lodi Salvation Army and Stockton Women’s Center- Youth and Family Services each received over 225 coats, which were much needed during this exceptionally cold winter. Equally exciting were the results from our two Fill-the-Truck Food Drives. With the help of our fabulous volunteers- the baseball players at St. Mary’s and Lincoln High Schools- we collected $740.74 and 3,154 pounds of food, which equals over 2,523 meals for the Emergency Food Bank of San Joaquin County. (Last year, our one food drive yielded 906 pounds of food.) It wasn’t until Melissa Johnson and I helped distribute the food on December 20th at the Food Bank that I truly understood the value of our customers’ generous donations. Thank you to all of you who donated this past Christmas season, and to our volunteers and merchants. Know that you have truly made a difference in the lives of people

FeaturedMERC HANT Her motto is “do what you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life”.

REVO is the newest store to be welcomed to Lincoln Center! Owners Cathy Macalutas-Fernandes and husband Ken Fernandes relocated their shop to the Center in November, just in time for the holidays. REVO was extremely enthusiastic about the move to Lincoln Center, “the place they’ve always wanted to be,” according to Cathy. Many of you may be wondering what exactly REVO means… it’s short for “revolution” or “revolve”, which reflects their unique and progressive ecological aspect that is incorporated into the store. There is an “eco” section in REVO that features pre-owned premium denim. The “premium” jeans in this section include: True Religion, Joe Jeans, Hudson’s, Citizens of Humanity and Seven for All Mankind. Another selection of denim is titled “choice denim” and includes brands like Miss Me, Banana Republic, Guess and Lucky. In addition to jeans, REVO carries a wide selection of brands, aiming to make their style very casual and comfortable. Currently, they offer Lucky Brand, Topo Ranch, Threads for Thought, Shiraleah Vegan Leather, among others.

Cathy Macalutas-Fernandes of REVO

With her creative skills at use, Cathy loves switching up things in the shop. Whether she’s working on displays, props or moving product around, she aims to make REVO a fun and interesting place for customers to shop. Her motto is “do what you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life”. The motto carries on into the store, where you can feel the love that the Fernandes family puts into their business.

SpecialFEATURE I walked into Bliss and sat down and starting talking, Tammie (the owner) made me feel so comfortable. I could tell her exactly what I liked and didn’t like about the dresses in the shop. After discussing different options she brought a few out and the first dress I tried on was THE ONE,” said Katie. After selecting her gown, she headed down to Sassy Pants Children’s Boutique for a flower girl dress. She’d had her eye on one since the Bridal Faire the previous week.

Drebert O

n August 25, 2012, Garrett Allan Drebert and Katie Marie Shores said “I Do” at Jessie’s Grove Winery in Lodi, California surrounded by 200 of their closest friends and family. Since the couple absolutely loves summertime, an outdoor August wedding made perfect sense. The thoughtful and fun details at their reception, such as a wheelbarrow filled with bottled waters for the guests and a basket holding flip-flops (to be used as “dancing shoes”), made their wedding truly unique. Katie turned to the shops at Lincoln Center for some of the most important wedding details. “I attended the Lincoln Center Bridal Faire last February. We had lunch and walked around the Center, stopping in a few stores. We went into Bliss Bridal Salon to look around and ended up making an appointment to try on dresses. When we came back the following Friday for my appointment, I was really nervous. Once

As the wedding neared, Katie and her now-husband Garrett worked tirelessly on all kinds of wedding DIY (do-ityourself) projects. She joked that every weekend leading up to the wedding was filled with yet another project, from constructing a bench (Garrett owns a local flooring company so he is very handy!) for the guests to sign, to dying guests’ seating cards with coffee to attain an antique look. They finished projects just in time for Katie and her bridesmaids to enjoy manicures and pedicures at Signature Nails & Spa and lunch at Papapavlo’s the day before the wedding. “In the end, everything turned out exactly as I had pictured it in my head. It’s so nice to look back at the pictures and see all the details that made the celebration truly ours,” Katie shared. n

Nail Bling to Compliment your Ring

Y

our hands will be one of the main focuses at your wedding as everyone admires your beautiful ring! The manicure for your wedding is an important accessory to tie in with your jewelry and bouquet. Not many people think about their manicures or pedicures for the big day… but why not put extra attention in those fingertips and try something different for your wedding? White tipped French manicures are as classic as it gets when it comes to nails and are the most popular bridal tradition. For the romantic and natural bride, nude nails are popular, or a light ballet pink. Accent nails are in style this year! An accent nail is when one nail on the hand (typically the ring finger) is painted differently than the others. Add a little bit of sparkle, shine or a pop of color on your ring finger nail! Nude nails look amazing when paired with one sparkly nail. How about the “something blue” tradition? You can try something a little less traditional and wear the blue on your nails! Go with a beautiful hue from Tiffany’s blue to Sea Foam… find the right color that works for you! Brides- don’t forget the bridesmaids want their nails to look great too! Before the wedding, pamper your bridal party with a trip to the nail salon. Bridesmaids look beautiful with matching finger nail polish and it can lead to a great photo opportunity for photographers. Brides and bridesmaids, are you looking to do something fun and different with your nails this year? Lincoln Center has two wonderful and experienced nail salons to help you with all your bridal manicure and pedicure needs! n

Brian&Katie

McMillen

K

atherine (Katie) Gillespie and Brian McMillen both grew up in Lodi and attended Lodi High School. They even attended the same college Sonoma State University - which is where they were introduced. Being from the same town, they couldn’t believe they had never met… but they were at the right place at the right time in Sonoma! Their first official date was exciting! Seeing Conan O’Brien live in San Francisco, then game six of the Warriors vs. Mavericks play-off series. After dating for almost five years, Brian proposed from 9,000 feet at the top of the Heavenly Lake Tahoe lookout on December 27, 2011. DeVons Jewelers in Lincoln Center was a necessity when it came to the rings! The staff at DeVons assisted Brian in choosing the perfect engagement ring for Katie. Following the engagement, they selected rings that reflect their style. According to Katie, the experience was superb; “They were easy, quick, and the staff is very friendly and helpful!” Katie purchased her dress and veil from Bliss Bridal Salon after visiting three other bridal shops in the area. Bliss offered her the experience and one of a kind service Katie was looking for. “Tammie (owner) really wants to know what you like and what you envision on your big day. After telling her all that I had pictured and the styles I liked, it only took minutes for me to try on what was going to be my wedding dress. She was patient through the process and really wanted to make sure it was something that I was comfortable in,” said Katie. Over the next few months, Katie turned to Lincoln Center for all kinds of wedding necessities. Each time she was in the Center, she and her friends would end their errands with food and drinks at one of their favorite places, Papapavlo’s Bistro and Bar. With everything picked out and ready, Brian and Katie were married on August 11, 2012 at Bare Ranch by Michael David Winery in Lodi. They currently reside in Martinez where Katie is a Senior Project Manager of Onsite Services & Health Educator for WellCall, Inc., a corporate health and wellness company, and Brian is a Deputy Sherriff for Contra Costa County. n Wedding photos by Whitney Ramirez Photography

wedding not only means the joining of two lives, but also the uniting of two households…and household items! Brides: before heading to stores to register for gifts, it’s important to take time to assess both of your belongings to see what you need and what you may already have. There’s no need to end up with two of the same size pots while you are need of pans!

“Brides and Grooms: Before heading to stores to register for gifts, remember to check and see what you already have and what you’d like to replace.”

To the right is a list of the top ten kitchen items to register for, provided by Julie Van Noate, owner of Best Wishes. These kitchen essentials are sure to be used time and time again, and are great gifts for any level of cook.

“My ‘new’ favorite kitchen items are any and all of the Swiss Diamond pots and pans. I was given one of the “try me” sauté pans by my rep and was immediately hooked! I sent all of my old pots and pans with my daughter to Boise State and began to build my collection. Swiss Diamond is a non-stick cookware that is actually made with diamond dust. Its non-stick surface is virtually indestructible and will not crack, blister or peel. I’ve had customers squeal with delight when they see that we carry it! I know for sure it’s their favorite!”
