A Letter from Philip & Christy “Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.” - Abraham Lincoln We, collectively at Lincoln, are the”tree,” from the team members who interact daily with our residents, to the individuals that welcome new familes into our communities at the various housing and district offices, to the support teams at the GMOs and our LPC partners in Irvine, Dallas and Herndon. How each of us, our government partners and our residents FEEL about us...that is the Shadow. 2019 was a tough year for the “Shadow,” with the internet and other media making hasty conclusions about how we deliver on our mission for our families. The good news is that it was a real growth year for the “Tree!” Each of us faced new challenges and were forced to stretch in ways we might have
otherwise thought impossible. As a result, we are far better positioned today to embrace the opportunity to exceed the expectations of our families, our partners and our valued teammembers who strive passionately each day to provide exemplary service. As we have grown together, the “tree” is ever-changing, and our goal is that each change has a positive impact on our “shadow” - our reputation. We have several new team members who joined LMH in 2019, and new positions to give even more support to those that are making it happen everyday. It is worth noting that members in Congress affirmed that Lincoln Military Housing is critical to the mission and our goal is to continue to work with them to ensure each military family is served with the care and empathy befitting the sacrifice they undertake as part of our Nation’s all-volunteer military. We look forward to working together and ask for your support and feedback as we aim to meet our mission to you, our partners and our families.

RED Shirt Fridays Remember Everyone Deployed Fridays. LMH teams are wearing RED on Friday to support the sacrifice of the servicemen and servicewomen overseas. Thank you LMH for showing your support and keeping our troops in your thoughts. If your installation participates, please send photos to LincolnMilitary@lpsi.com.
The Rewards of Volunteering as a Family With busy lives, it can be hard to find time to volunteer. However, one LMH team member and her family have gone above and beyond to support the LMH mission. Cindy Farless, the Community Services Director for Southwest Navy, along with her sister (Kimberly), father (Jerry), and mother (Kathy), has hosted Lincoln families at the annual Dave & Busters Thanksgiving event for Lincoln families who have a deployed service member. For ten years, the Farless family, without hesitation, has given up their family celebration to ensure our residents feel appreciated and have a stress free holiday. In addition to this annual event, Cindy’s family has given numerous hours volunteering throughout the years. On behalf of Lincoln Military Housing, we would like to thank you, Cindy, and your family for your support and compassion for our military families.

Mission Moment In March of this year, we laid out the challenge of regaining the trust of our residents and our government partners. You have worked tirelessly and it is clear that we are making progress as we re-commit to caring for our families and meeting our mission to our partners... ...I am confident there are similar stories as the one shared below, where our Twentynine Palms team won a lifetime fan with a simple act of empathy and caring during this busy and stressful time - stress which was only magnified by having a deployed spouse. She even went on to FB to share the story and profess her gratitude to our team. Thank you for showing the best of Lincoln, and inspiring each of us to find the little moments where we can help ease the burden and stress for our families. It is important to share these successes, not just to promote the ideas of what we can do, but to illustrate the power of connection and understanding, if you have a similar story, please share. -Philip Mrs. Heritage came in this morning at 9 am to come to see me about her Gift cards. The Palm team gathered around to surprise her with her Christmas tree, decorations, and a gift basket that an employee won that was just raffled out to the team. She came in by herself and when I asked if her husband was here she told me that he was currently deployed in Kuwait and started crying because she was so touched that LMH had done this for her and the family. She said that she does not care what people say about LMH that she had posted on FB and stated that LMH was great!!! She asked when did we have time to get this all done and was just amazed. She said that she will always be a fan and represent LMH as a great PPV company. She told the team to not listen to the negativity out there as there are families like her that know how hard we work every day. She then called her husband deployed and told him what had just happened, she placed us on speaker with him so that he could thank the team. I told him to 8
not worry that we have the family taken care of. She thanked the team that was there last night and just praised them all for their diligent work and how respectful they were of her home. She stated that her kids had asked about the Christmas tree and the gifts last night and she did not know what to tell them. She wanted to take a picture with us so that she could send it to her husband. She then gave everyone a hug. Techs were fighting back tears throughout this whole process. We are currently looking to have her placed into another home by Monday the 23rd. She shared with me that a weight has been lifted from her shoulders and that she will never stop thanking us for what we had done for her family. (Mrs. Heritage is a resident at the Twentynine Palms community in California).
