FOURTH QUARTER 2020

Inspiration Station

“Always bear in mind that your own resolution to SUCCEED is more important than any one thing.” - Abraham Lincoln, November 5th, 1855 The end of the year provides us with an excellent opportunity to reflect on the challenges we overcame and look forward to the future. Writing out personal and professional goals might seem cliche, but it’s no different from any strategic planning we do as a team. Sometimes we make our goals, and sometimes we have to revise midstream. Overall, it’s our resolution to move toward success that’s most important. As we celebrate our 20th anniversary in 2021, our company goal is to recommit ourselves to our mission. We want to achieve success, but the only way that happens is with every team member’s commitment. This year, I invite you to incorporate your own goals and plans into our overall mission. Being able to pivot and adapt is part of the military culture and part of team

culture. Anyone who’s ever reached and worked for goals knows that plans change, needs change, and sometimes, like in 2020, the world changes. As a team, we serve as sounding boards, as cheering squads, and as accountability buddies for everyone in our company, and we move forward toward success. Everyone will remember 2020 for the challenges and difficulties the world experienced as we pivoted and learned to adapt to a new normal. Part of that shifting was finding ways to continue our mission while being flexible enough to adjust to changing conditions and circumstances. As a team, we have not only risen to this challenge but have come through to the other side. We’re a stronger team at the end of 2020 than we were when we started, and I’m confident we’ll be even stronger at the end of 2021.

Lincoln Military Housing (LMH)has partnered with the U.S. Army for the construction and management of on-base housing at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM). LMH continues to deliver on its commitment to improving military housing. It’s expected to take six years and is part of the long-term goal of renovating legacy homes throughout the portfolio. All units will receive a significant renovation to the exterior and interior. Regional Vice President

Over the past seven years, Lincoln Military Housing has provided over 3,000 turkeys to families living in their military housing communities. “We recognize that every penny counts during this time of year, and being able to partner with our vendors to give back and show our appreciation to our residents is extremely important to us,” said John Corriher, Regional Vice President. “We wish all of our residents a very special Thanksgiving.” As COVID-19 continues to evolve, Lincoln Military Housing recognizes the persisting challenges regarding food insecurity among military families. As we approach the holiday season, the demand for holiday assistance increases, this partnership strived to lend a helping hand to military members in the security and discretion of their communities. Lincoln Military Housing, Clippers, Pro Outdoor LLC, and James River Grounds Management are honored to provide the simple gift of tradition to our military community.

Lincoln Military Housing Recognized for Support to Military-Connected Children Lincoln Military Housing (LMH), the nation’s leading provider of homes for military families, was awarded the 2020 Exemplary Individual Project/Program Award for their partnership with Fort Sam Houston Elementary School, supporting the Cougar Cub Recycling Program. In its 16th year, the annual award encourages and reflects the outstanding partnerships formed between military installations and school districts that serve the military- and veteran-connected children. Each year, winning partnerships are selected from schools and military installations worldwide that celebrate the military child in exceptional and sustainable ways. “Lincoln has been a proud supporter of the students in the Fort Sam Houston Independent School District for many years. When we were asked to support the recycle project and expand the recycle club, we knew this was something we could get behind” said Shequita Sims, Lincoln Military Housing, District Manager. “Not only did it allow us to support our community partners, but it also provided resident education and awareness about the ecosystem, and our environment” The combined efforts were instrumental in the school’s recent win of PepsiCo Recycle Rally

contest. The monetary award will give back to the community and enhance the relationship built through its recycling program. The Cougar Cub Recycling Program included tracking and reporting the amount of recyclables placed curbside from September 2019 to January 2020. Partnering organizations included Lincoln Military Housing, Joint Base San Antonio, Fort Sam Houston Independent School District, Fort Sam Houston Elementary School, Brooke Army Medical Center, Parkwood Housing, JROTC Cole High School, and JBSA-Fort Sam School Liaison Office – Texas. Lincoln Military Housing Residents contributed 17,252 pounds of recyclables in six short months. The total collection was 1.4 million pounds of recyclables from various partners. Fort Sam Houston Elementary School plans to use their prize to purchase audio-video equipment and give back to the community by creating public service announcements for their community partners. Lincoln Military Housing, Camp Pendleton Hosts Blood Drive Lincoln Military Housing (LMH) recently hosted a blood drive, with generous donors coming together to save an estimated 150 lives. The Oct. 8, 2020 event, held at LMH’s Camp Pendleton community just outside its housing assignment office in San Diego County, had 62 participating donors who collectively gave 52 pints of blood. Another dozen donors were deferred. Each unit has the potential to save up to three lives. The drive, which practiced COVID-19 safety measures and was a partnership with the Armed Services Blood Program (ASBP), had a lot of social media buzz in anticipation. LMH families, residents and staff participated in the drive from all over Camp Pendleton to support the cause that coincided with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They were eager to learn about the next event. “We are so happy with the results of this drive,” Jill Dorflinger, Regional Vice President. “Everyone really stepped up in a time of need to donate. Their generosity demonstrates the heart and camaraderie our military families and team members have for their community.”

“Everyone really stepped up in a time of need to donate. Their generosity demonstrates the heart and camaraderie our military families and team members have for their community.”

Regional Vice President

The ASBP and the LMH Community Services Team are currently planning future blood drive events for communities in the San Diego area. The ASBP is the official military provider of blood products to U.S. armed forces. Service members are often confused and erroneously believe that a civilian collection agency provides blood products to the military community. That is not true. The ASBP is one of four organizations that ensure our nation has a safe, potent blood supply. The ASBP works closely with our civilian counterparts in times of need. However, the ASBP is the official blood collection, manufacturing, transport, and transfusion program for the U.S. military. For more information on the Armed Services Blood Program click here.
