Happy November Sunset!
Got Books? Students check out 3 books each week and can keep them for 2 weeks. I urge them to check out at least 2 books at their reading level. If they have 2 books overdue, they will be encouraged to return those in order to check out more. Learning to return them within the two week time period is a valuable lesson in keeping THEIR library running smoothly. Ask them what being responsible for their books looks like. Thanks to the volunteers for your invaluable help. I couldn't do it without you! If you are interested in getting involved, feel free to call anytime.
We finished up a very creative unit on Folktales last month. It was great to see the progression of learning the elements, seeing the characters through different eyes and then having 3rd,4th and 5th create and tell their tales. Ask your author about their creation! K, 1st and 2nd are continuing to learn how to navigate the library and to love reading. Where in the library is Flat Stanley? Ask your reader:)
Where are we going? This month we will explore our Blessings and all we are thankful for in our school, families and community. Remember all those who are in need as we start this holiday season. We have added lots of books to our shelves and continue to get more. Thanks to PTA for purchasing the Buckaroo and Indian Paintbrush books for this year. The Buckaroo nominees are geared for K-2 and the Indian Paintbrush nominees for 3-5. There are many genres and we should have something for everyone. Come and take a look with your child and have them show you around. Our door is always open!
