The comfortable and rebuilt fisherman cottages, the dedicated team of Hattvika Lodge as well as the unmatched sea and mountain adventures, will make your experience truly exceptional. Our units are furnished with comfortable beds, WiFi and a fully equipped kitchen in all of our fisherman cottages. Those conveniences are embedded by authentic and rustic designed rooms. Hattvika Hillside cabins are specially designed hotel rooms which bridge the gap between modernity and tradition. If you have chosen Hattvika Hillside for your stay, breakfast is included, and will be served at our private restaurant. Additionally, all of our units have smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. The large bathrooms feature shower(s), toilet and heated tiled floors. Our Lodge is a smoking free zone with elaborate waste management and a refill drinking water station.

ON-SITE RESTAURANT & CONFERENCE ROOM The restaurant will deliver the highest possible food and service quality, with an authentic smile. The main goal is to produce healthy food in a sustainable manner while keeping its northern roots. The menu will mainly be based on daily caught seafood delivered to our doorstep. We will be able to host up to 100 guests; 75 in the restaurant, 15 in the board meeting room and 10 in the reception/ lounge area.

ACCOMMODATION FISHERMAN’S COTTAGE ”RORBU” If you have chosen a “rorbu” for your stay at Hattvika you are surrounded and settled in an authentic fisherman cottage. The buildings are newly rebuilt with modern high standard in all facilities where you can feel the pulse of Lofoten’s charm and tradition while enjoying modern comfort. All units/apartments have modern bathrooms with heated tile floors, comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchens embedded in an authentic atmosphere that is difficult to find elsewhere.

HATTVIKA HILLSIDE ”HOTEL ROOM” The Hattvika Hillside Cabins are our approach to bridge the gap between tradition and modernity. All cabins have modern bathrooms with heated tile floors, comfortable beds, a small private balcony and a cosy seating area right next to a huge window (to either watch the northern lights or the midnight sun). Breakfast included.

COD LIVER OIL TASTE DEPOT Ballstad is one of the most prominent and still active fishing villages in Lofoten, and we are proud to invite our guests to a presentation and taste of the cod liver oil. The medical benefits are beyond dispute, and it contains a great combination of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A and vitamin D.

FEEDBACK
In the Hattvika Hillside Cabins, we provide two complimentary coffee capsules per customer per day. Since we recycle the capsules, you can leave used ones in the machine, and we will take them out while supplementing you with your daily coffee dose. If you request more, you can buy capsules at the reception.

DRINKING WATER You can drink the wather from the tap. It is local fresh water coming directly (filtered) from the mountains above Ballstad.
FACTORY The factory with the large barrels you see across the bay produces cod liver oil for the oldest and largest company of this kind in Norway – Möllers Tran.

GROCERIES – SHOPS Joker is just a 5 minutes walk from Hattvika Lodge (map page 12). Open Mon-Fri 8 am to 9 pm, Sat 9 am to 8 pm, Sun 10 am to 4 pm (only during summer). In Leknes, you’ll find two small grocery stores open all year, even Sundays.

Please separate glass and cans – hard paper – plastic bottles – plastic wrapping – mixed waste and drop it at the different labelled containers at the parking lot. The big blue container is for mixed waste. You find easy openings on both sides of the container.

WATER – REFILL REDUCE WASTE – REFILL! Our focus is on the usage of regional water resources. By using an empty bottle of any kind, or purchasing a Hattvika Lodge bottle, you can refill water wherever fresh drinking water is available. Like in all our apartments or at our refill station between the parking area and Möllers Tran taste depot. Instead of buying plastic bottles, we at Hattvika Lodge refrain from purchasing them and instead use the high-quality drinking bottles, developed, produced and branded in Norway.

STORVATNET
Mt Nonstinden: Parking is next to Kræmmarvika Havn restaurant and the hiking trail starts right at the parking zone. The ascend is medium steep until you reach the plateau of Ballstadheia. A truly amazing hike at the Ridge until you summit Mt Nonstinden, 459 MASL and overlooking the fisherman village, Ballstad, in all its beauty.

Storvatnet (the large freshwater lake): This is a new local community made hiking trail in the flat terrain of Ballstad. Parking at the local school and enter the terrain by walking 150 m toward Leknes and enter the left side of the road to the hiking trail. In total, the hike is approx 10 km in a flat and scenic landscape, pinewood forest and several freshwater lakes – all sheltered by the massive Mt Skottind of Ballstad.
Mt Skottind: This scenic hike is medium to expert level. It starts in the trail for Storvatnet and enters the Kyllingdalen area (hiking trail). The ascend starts at the end of the inner freshwater lake and is steep from start to summit. The last 150 m to the summit is 35 degrees and exposed for falling rocks. The reward of summiting is breathless as you overlook all of Ballstad.
