San Francisco Brokerage Manager
Building on our successful sale of the most expensive home ever sold in San Francisco in 2017, listed at $40 million, Sotheby’s International Realty entered the year in a strong position and continues to lead the Bay Area market not only in the sale of luxury homes, but in providing outstanding service to all our clients. Global sales volume for the Sotheby’s brand reached $108 billion in 2017. Our peerless websites connected with a record 27 million viewers, with 60% from overseas. In San Francisco, the first quarter of 2018 continued the longstanding trend of low inventory and high demand, further cementing the Bay Area’s reputation as one of the hottest markets in the country. According to the San Francisco Association of Realtors (SFAR), prices overall continued a steady rise, with single-family home prices gaining a remarkable 23% to reach $1.6 million. District 4 was a standout, with single-family home prices up 33% year-over-year, yet median prices in some neighborhoods declined compared to Q1 2017. Condominium prices rose more modestly at 5%, with days on market declining by 8%. Belying the general trend of tighter supply, the number of condominium units sold rose overall, with Districts 1, 4 and 6 increasing by double-digit percentages compared to last year, and prices increased as well. Median days on market declined overall, from 21 to 16 for all property types*. As we continue to navigate these exciting and complicated times, our brokerage’s core focus on exceptional service is more relevant than ever. If Sotheby’s International Realty may be of service to you in the sale or purchase of property in the Bay Area or around the world, please contact me at +1 415 296 2200 so I may personally introduce you to a local expert.
