GAIN UNIQUE INSIGHTS

WITH GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES GUEST SPEAKERS

“I spend summers here in our house on the Atlantic coast. So I am steeped in the history and romance of this corner of the New World settled by Europeans as early as 1604, my mother’s family arriving in 1750. I grew up with the sea. The sea was my father’s work on Royal Canadian Mounted Police patrol boats during Prohibition chasing rum-runners over the waters we will sail. In WWII, he commanded a series of warships protecting convoys in the Battle of the Atlantic. My brother Hugh became an Admiral in the Canadian Navy, and I am an amateur cruising sailor. So, the sea is in our bones, and I love to tell the stories of how it shaped four centuries of our history.”

It is fascinating to call at each island and see how their lives are inextricably tied to the seas through trade and JUST CONFIRMED! ACTOR RICK FOUCHEUX An actor of formidable talent, Rich Foucheux starred in Bell—a one-man play of Alexander Graham Bell’s life written by Robert MacNeil’s PBS co-anchor of 20 years— Jim Lehrer. Foucheux, an expert on Alexander Graham Bell, will join our expedition with unique insights and perform a portion of the Lehrer-written play.
