Geneva, it gave me the urge to work abroad.”
Last summer, Lindner Honors-PLUS (LHP) juniors visited 24 different companies across 6 different countries during their six-week European learning adventure. The trip began in London with a visit to Unilever’s global headquarters. Students met with CEO and Lindner College of Business Alumnus Paul Polman (who was dressed fashionably in a UC tie). Mr. Polman gave a riveting presentation centered around his inspirational beliefs concerning the social responsibilities of business. While in London, LHP students also met with executives at Interbrand, Bloomberg and Credit Suisse. In Prague, the students attended class with Czech students at the Economics School of Prague. The students then ventured to Latvia where they literally received the royal treatment as they met with the country’s President before taking a thrilling run down a local bobsled course. The students’ time in Italy was highlighted by meetings in Milan with senior officials from Bosch and Luxottica as well as a day in Venice riding gondolas and sampling gelato. The trip’s final destination was Switzerland, where students visited the World Trade Organization, spoke with executives at Nestlé’s global headquarters and ultimately ended their European adventure by giving presentations at the Procter & Gamble location just outside of Geneva.
