Exhibitions of Communities The Community section seeks answers to “what is design?” in the context of inter-relations and reciprocal influences between place, non-place and design. Our section exists both in the pursuit of a gestalt, which encompasses cognitive and emotive, material and sensorial, and existential and phenomenological experiences, and of a very contemporary notion of collectivity that negates place and focuses on intangible networks of binary code, politics, and memory. In pursuit of an expanded notion of community, our section will expose the underbellies of society as well as hold up the historical movements of design for examination. The profound changes in the nature of technology, demographics, and the global economy, which give rise to powerful new models of production based on selforganization rather than hierarchy, will be represented through new mediums of design and production. We seek to nurture a real-life, on-site community through the construction of a physical space and centre for design production and activities that challenge conventional representations of communit

A MIRAGE is by definition an optical phenomenon and the origin of the word comes from the latin mirare, meaning “to look at, to wonder at”. Macau is a city of constant change and frantic development, no landscape is the same for too long and as designers we wonder about its future. Designers in Macau are working to answer to theirs city communities expectations and“wonders”, through Design.
As the discipline that foresees the development of multidisciplinary systems and methods by blending processes and creating new networks aiming for innovation, productivity and sustainability. In this exhibition the group of professionals, institutions and events represented are participating in a new way of dealing with the creative industries, in a local dimension but also designing “NEW MIRAGES” for a new era of Asian creative development.
