VISUAL PERMEABILITY
SITE ANALYSIS
-
-
The river has a negative view from the site due to a lack maintenance. A dirty environment makes people choose not to use the sidewalk of the river. In order to increase human density and activities near the river side, cleaning the river is a must because healthy space attract more visitors. The other negative view is facing a giant concrete building which is the Dayabumi Complex. The height of the building is blocking the vision from the site to the South.

VISUAL PERMEABILITY

The open public space is a positive view from the site. A wide pathway provides a sense of freedom for the users as they use it. In addition, the green pocket space makes the area fresher and more vibrant. Facing the North is also a positive view from the site, where there are several heritage buildings with a skyline that creates the sense of continuity in architecture. Using this value as the design consideration will boost the architecture intention for the future development.

The building is designed as a container for art to be culturally revitalize the area where it is implanted. With a simple architecture, immediately communicates what in the past was called monumental, urging the sense of the collective, the ‘civic pride’. A horizontal building, it stands out amidst the verticality of the buildings stretching along Avenida Paulista. Its forward alignment, closer to the avenue in relation to the other buildings, has contributed toward making the building an urban landmark.
ADP
SAO PAULO MUSEUM OF ART OPEN PLAZA
SITE ANALYSIS
The public ground-level plaza known as the MASP building’s free span, is a characteristic and fundamental element of the design, serving as a scenic overlook with a view toward the valley of Avenida 9 de Julho and beyond. This architectural-urbanistic solution also provides an urban breath of fresh air, insofar as it is a pause along the mass of buildings along Avenida Paulista and allows for views and framings that intensify the building’s relationship to the city. It is a design that goes beyond the limits of the building and designs the block, compatible with its urban context and its transformations.
