Glassolutions Installation Balances Form And Function At Kirkstall Forge ‘Urban Village’ In Leeds A stunning floor-to-ceiling glazing installation designed, specified and delivered by GLASSOLUTIONS has helped create the ideal balance between form and function at a new multi-use development in West Yorkshire. One Kirkstall Forge is an office building with floor-to-ceiling glazing at 2.8m height and a glazed entrance atrium. The GLASSOLUTIONS Contracting team designed, specified and installed a glazed façade, with deep mullions and bronze pressed aluminium panel cladding. The plans also featured a spectacular 8m unsupported mid-span entrance atrium which GLASSOLUTIONS was also briefed to deliver. GLASSOLUTIONS specified a combination of WICONA aluminium systems integrating with high performance insulating glass units, spandrels and sandwich panels. GLASSOLUTIONS opted to install insulated glass units comprising Saint Gobain Glass’ SGG COOL-LITE XTREME 70-33ii, with single-glazed units used for the spandrel panels to combat overheating. http://glassolutions.co.uk/ en-gb/project/one-kirkstall-forge
Remmers Exhibits At Hayward Gallery The world-renowned Hayward Gallery is a contemporary art gallery within Southbank Centre in London. As part of a two-year restoration project, Remmers restoration products were selected by Cemplas, to complete extensive concrete repair and renovation works to the internal architectural concrete elements of this prestigious major arts venue. Remmers ‘Arte Mundit’ was applied to remove the decades of superficial dirt that had built up on the concrete walls and ceilings. Arte Mundit is a self-vulcanising cleaning paste that dries into a peelable natural latex. It provides thorough water-free removal of residues to varied substrates and there is no development of dust making it the ideal product for specialised restoration projects. www.remmers.co.uk
Affordable Housing Development Benefits From Magply Performance Off-site timber frame systems are evolving with an increasing market share in the construction industry with speed of build becoming a major factor along with fire risk and weather damaged products during the construction phase. One supplier addresses all three factors, including an affordable housing development in Essex, utilising Magply boards as an internal lining board to internal and external walls. The project at Buckingham Green, Basildon, has seen T.T.F.C Ltd. erect a total of six new homes. The two twostorey and four three-storey houses have been supplied in panel form by Wexford - based T.T.F.C Ltd. T.T.F.C Ltd., now routinely installs 99 per cent of the Magply boards within its Wexford factory, before they are shipped to site and assembled by fully trained erection teams. They then use additional sheets of the strong and durable material to protect and complete interfaces, including within stairwells to flats and houses. This provides immediate continuity and fire resistance, while keeping the timber and insulation dry. As a high performance, multi-functional board, Magply features a formulation that provides a fire-safe and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional plywood or OSB products. Additionally, the unique production process ensures chloride content at a negligible level of around 0.03%, ensuring Magply remains dry and non-corrosive whilst enhancing both stability and long-term durability. Crucially, Magply carries internationally recognised EN Standard, UKAS accredited certification confirming 90 minutes fire integrity and insulation under test conditions and Euro class A1 non-combustibility. Furthermore, the range offers excellent racking strength, impact or pull-out resistance and all round ease of use in a variety of applications. www.magply.co.uk
