SMART LAUNCHES ALITHERM HERITAGE 60 DOOR SYSTEM, FULLY COMPLIANT WITH DOCUMENT L Smart Architectural Aluminium has announced the launch of its new Alitherm 60 door system, the latest addition to the company’s proven Alitherm Heritage portfolio. Fully compliant with Document L of the Building Regulations, this new range of high-quality, high performance single and double doors provides an elegant solution for both new build and refurbishment projects. The doors’ distinctive slim sightlines perfectly complement the existing Smart Alitherm window ranges, which together mimic the appearance of traditional steel window and door systems – while delivering all the performance benefits of a modern aluminium system. With a range including single and double doors, as well open-in and open-out options, Alitherm 60 provides a ready replacement for steel doors on heritage applications, such as building renovations or apartment conversions, or for sensitive conservation areas, where planning regulations require a like-for-like product replacement. With a classically elegant design, the new doors also feature an enhanced polyamide break to provide excellent thermal performance, in compliance with Document L of the Building Regulations. A full range of complementary hardware, including stainless steel, heritage and Art Deco fittings, is also available together with Smart’s extensive colour palette to provide complete design flexibility. www.smartsystems.co.uk
CUTTING EDGE INVESTMENT AT CRITTALL WINDOWS Crittall has become the only steel window manufacturer with fully integrated business management, order processing & fabrication systems following the completion of a project to introduce stateof-the-art software & machinery. The installation of KLAES product configurator software and two new CNC machines will streamline the business operations from quote and initial order through manufacture and delivery cutting out time-consuming processes and paperwork. The result will be increased output, productivity and efficiency as well as new products brought to market more speedily. “This investment in KLAES software and additional CNC machinery responds to increased demand for our thermally broken steel windows and doors as well as our Innervision internal screens,” says Crittall Windows Managing Director Russell Ager. The technology reduces lead-times, makes data accessible across the business and revolutionises the tracking of orders. It also feeds into the company’s advanced ERP or Enterprise Resource Planning software that controls all aspects of the business including finance and inventory. Once an order is placed the raw materials required can be ordered automatically. The combination of CNC machines with the new software also aids product development increasing dramatically the speed by which new windows and doors can be brought to market. Creating a prototype from an initial design used to involve time-consuming, not to say costly, re-tooling but now a model can be simply produced as with a 3-D printer. www.crittall-windows.co.uk
