Architecture + Urban Planning selected works 2010 l 2016

ABOUT ME I’m Lionela, a young architect and urban planner graduated from Universidad Nacional del Litoral with a Master thesis concerning the relationship between innovation and exibility in workplaces environments. I had been always curious about every little thing that came my way and since I remember, everything awakes my interest. For that reason, I am always open to explore new elds. For me, the best thing about reality is that we can always see it from a different perspective. And this is possible if we are open to have a holistic approach to the problems. This is also a way to take my self outside of my comfort zone. I think that I grow the most when I push myself to the edge. Finally, I am incredibly passionate about what I pursue in life and I am always seeking for improvement.

EXHIBITION STAND COLOMBIA - AVIANCA - VIEW FROM THE CORRIDOR

Colombia in the Clouds COLOMBIA Contest for Architectural Position Year: 2016

An argentinian rm open a contest to recruit a new employee. The objective of this competition was to design an exhibition stand for Colombia travel agency and its national airline known as Avianca. Both of them were imaginated to be located in an International Tourism Exhibition. With the aim of enhancing Colombia’s slogan, emerge the idea of designing a stand that shows the diversity of landscapes that this country offers beyond its typical green tones. The birds that live in the sky make Colombia as the country that has the greater diversity on the earth. From this point of view, Colombia is shown as a travel destination that offers to its visitors a unique experience: “get on a ight where the limit to let their imagination y is the sky”. With the purpose of representing this idea, 200 white latex balloons (which are hanging from the existing structure of the exhibition center) were positioned following the shape of a cloud. The other materials used emulate the green of its landscape, the blue of its waters and its famous brown coffee route.

UNL LAB RAINY NIGHT STREET VIEW

Exploring the relationship between exibility and innovation SANTA FE, ARGENTINA FINAL THESIS Year: 2014 Collaboration: Milagros Sala

The aim of this research was to develop strategies for the design of a more dynamic workplace environment. To achieve that goal, the investigation focused on establishing relationships between innovation and workplaces which design has been guided by a exible conguration. The main purpose was to enhance the interaction between individuals so they can share their ideas and knowledges while they not only give but also get the best of each other. The building is located on the campus of the University and hosts an “innovation lab” which main objetive is to address the needs of the future, fostering the innovation within the university of Santa Fe community, and encouraging the interaction between professionals who come from different elds. Even if the design avoids the hierarchical differentiation in order to get an atmosphere of healthy and relaxed work, the space planning organization is exible enough to allow workers to choose where and with whom they want to work in and with. For that reason, several spaces fulll more than one function. For example, in the cafeteria individuals can take a break, work by their own or have an informal meeting. The building also has spaces for formal and informal meetings, brainstorm rooms, workstations, private ofces as well as support areas like the copy area, phonebooths, library and recreation spaces like the cafeteria, playroom, etc. Two rectangular plates one on top of the other and displaced in both axes are the main component of the building shape. They are made out of glass and perforated sheets of steel. As a result, the design will foster individuals interaction by enhancing their meeting points in a space planned under exibile conditions.

TRELLIS PATH VIEW

Hartland Partnership Center SALT LAKE CITY, USA STUDIO PROJECT Year: 2013 Collaboration: Chris Price Jacquelyn Mauer

Hartland Partnership Center is a center cocreated by the members of the University of Utah and city residentes who through ď€ nancial and educational resources try to give access to health, education and work to refugee communities. In addition, this center offers services such as English language lessons, citizenship classes, employment workshops, after-school support and tutoring over 800 children and adults. The project itself involves the design of the outside area of an existing building located in Salt Lake City, Utah. The design purpose was to create an outdoor space where both adults and children can use. In order to achieve that goal, the incorporation of several resources was reected on the building program. This incorporated a playground for children, areas for gardening, shades structures and parking zones for possible visitors. This outdoor area can be use as a parking lot but also as an outdoor meeting space. During the weekends or any special holiday, the refugees and community in general can get together in an open space. To sum up, the three focal points of the project are: the gardening area, trellis path and the tree house and playground.

The Site Location Salt Lake City is one of the most populated cities in the State of Utah, in the United States. There are approximately 25,000 refugees living in Utah, 99% of whom are in the Salt Lake Valley. Between 1000 and 1100 new refugees arrive to Utah each year. The largest refugee communities are Somali, Sudanese, and Iraqi with about 5000 people each.

HOSPITAL ENTRANCE VIEW

Santa Fe City Hospital SANTA FE, ARGENTINA STUDIO PROJECT Year: 2012

The site is located in the northwest of Santa Fe city, in Argentina. Its main feature is made up of a heterogeneous urban network, where the gaps between lled and empty spaces still wait to be fulll. This also demonstrate a clear preponderance of the vacant spaces. For that reason, the biggest challenge of this project was to design a building that achieves its construction in the less invasive way, establishing a balance between the most developed areas - all of them represented by highly complex buildings- and the less ones, which main feature is a public area located in front of the main access to the hospital. The hospital program is comprised of fours areas integrated and articulated between them by a series of courtyards and circulations. A fth area, located in a perpendicular position to the previous one, hosts the support area of the hospital as well as the surgery room. With regards to the main facade, it achieves its hierarchy through a double height hall made out of glass and linked with a volume that seems to “ight of the building”. The main materials used are concret and glass.

PARK VIEW - WATER MIRROR AREA

Dom Pedro II Park SAO PAULO, BRAZIL INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP Year: 2010 Collaboration: Miguel Dutto Pablo Modotti

Located on the oodplain of Rio Tamanduateí, one of the most important rivers of the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Park Dom Pedro II is a symbolic public space, surrounded by important historic building which connects the center of the town with the east zone. The transformation suggested starts at “Tamanduateí River” which is also the main axe of the design. The main objetive was to enhance the beauty of this natural resource throught its recovery. The idea is to “give back to the park what one day belong to it”. The desing includes the generations of various curves surrounded by water surfaces. In addition, water fountains were located in areas that have an intrinsic relationship with the park, such as the school and the old pipeline. In summary, the project seeks to achieve a more uent pedestrian use, suturing the existing gap between the east and the west areas of the city. In order to do that, the existing road system had to be relocated. For that reason, the project proposes the underground relocation of the main street. The reconstruction of it allows the park to had a more pedestrian use, allowing the citizens to a greater use of it and signicantly improving local accessibility.

MINNIE MOUSE PARTY - GARLAND

Graphic Design WORLDWIDE GRAPHIC DESIGN FOR PARTIES Year: 2014-Present

As an architect, I love design in any of it ways. From a food menu to a machine manual, everything can be designed. On ther other hand, I believe that any idea can be sold, and if it is in a creative way, better. At some point, is all about the presentation. If you want to make a big impact, the ď€ srt impression is the most important. Since I enjoy design itself, I set up a start-up which offers graphic design services for parties and events. I made printable party kits for bautisms, weddings, baby showers, etc. All of the illustrations in the next page are samples of some of the works done.
