The farmer’s paddy field turned green with weeds. “You must not wait any longer,” his neighbours warned him. “You cannot count on rabbits crashing into trees in order to make your living.” Glumly the farmer set to work. But by the time he had cleared his paddy field of weeds, he had undone the planting of that first morning, and he was late planting fresh seedlings. They did not grow well and so he had a very poor crop to harvest.

a girl who was dazzled by dreams. “I am growing up now,” she told her mother, “and there is so much I dream of doing. “I want to marry a handsome man, and I want him to be a brave and strong hunter who will be able to bring me all I need.” “Daydreams won’t bring you food or fuel,” answered her mother. “Even so, your father and I have been thinking that it is time for you to be getting married.
