DCON....7 UPDATES / CONTACT….8

MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR Dear Key Clubbers, I hope you all had a great spring break! And what can we look forward to now? AP tests (YAY…) But even with the tests going on, it’s no excuse to not volunteer. Everybody’s participation in events is what makes them run smoothly. We have many events for the month of May to look forward to as well as DCON 2015! Depending on whether or not you’re a returning member or a new member, you’ll have some requirements (look on the respective page to see what they are!). I know many of us are extremely busy but your support and attendance to meetings/events are appreciated. As long as we work hard, anything is possible!

~Jennifer Wang

In Loving Memory of Mrs. Trimble Mrs. Trimble was always encouraging us to do more and helped us realize that we were making a difference. I remember during my sophomore year after the closing ceremony at DCON after we had won three awards when she pulled us all aside as a club, and told us how proud she was of our accomplishments that year. I also know for certain that I could not have won Distinguished Editor at last year's DCON without the wisdom and support that Mrs. Trimble gave the officer board that year. She will forever be known to all Key Clubbers at Garfield High School as the caring advisor that kept as all together, and reminded us what the true meaning of Key Club was all about.

~Henry He Mrs. Trimble made an amazing and tremendous impact in Key Club. She was the role model I’d look up to for staying dedicated to the club. Whenever the officer team had questions or was stuck on something, she’d be there to answer our questions and help us out. When I was Treasurer, she’d be there to collect dues every week, help me deposit money, and keep me updated about the bank account. When I was Vice President, she’d give me calls to check up on the club even though she was sick and tired. I remember the time when we did the 5k March of Babies walk together and got to talk about our personal lives, and that one time when I butt-dialed her by accident where we ended up laughing together. I’m glad we got to share a couple happy moments. It was very great of her to drive to Seattle often for us when she lives pretty far away. Mrs. Trimble is such a loving person. I’ll never forget her. She will always be my inspiration to make a difference in my community, be practical, and work hard. Love you so much, Mrs. Trimble.

~Andrea Wong

Mrs. Trimble’s memorial service is on Friday, April 25th at 2pm at Haller Lake United Methodist Church in Seattle.

Relay for life is a life-changing fundraising event that helps communities across the globe fight back against cancer “In the beginning you are diagnosed and go through a dark time of treatments and trials – night…However, throughout the whole experience, you have your caregivers and supporters walking by your side – relayers. There is always hope and light and a new beginning in sight – dawn.” ~Rebecca Larson

The event’s activities symbolize a cancer survivor’s struggles. Help support this cause for those who have been affected by cancer. We are holding the event at Seattle University on May 24th.
