PATH CONCEPT WITH TURKISH TEXTURES The patterns have multiple representations like eternity of life, wealth, religion, dowry and abundance. By analyzing the patterns, we noticed that most of them had a hexagonal path, which we extracted to create a new pattern. The pattern was then placed on the Nemrut Volcano, between the ski lift and the site plan to find a path that connects both locations.
The path takes visitors through the exterior of the volcano, with the opportunity to stop in two viewpoints on the way to the site. Both viewpoints allow the visitors to have a dazzling view, one towards the exterior of the volcano, and the other one towards Qibla, Mecca. The second viewpoint, towards the site, has significance to the Islam Religion since at time of praying all Islam’s unify spiritually and pray towards Qibla. The Kaaba is a building located in Qibla, which in the Islamic religion, is considered the most sacred mosque, since it holds a sacred black stone that is believed to have been placed there by Abraham and Ishmael.
PATH RENDERING
SHANGRI- A
Since the path between the ski lift and the site is extensive, it is our job to make it as comfortable as possible for visitors to enjoy the hike. For this reason, it was decided to use specific materials through the path, that will indicate to the visitor when getting closer to each viewpoint and the site. After getting off the ski lift, the path is marked naturally by the volcano dirt. When getting closer to the first viewpoint the visitor will start to see a path made of wood, indi-

cating that they are almost in a resting place. When starting to walk towards the site again, the wooden path will disappear, and then the same process applies to the second viewpoint. When getting closer to the site, the wooden path will direct the visitors towards the interior of the site building, feeling like they are being submerged into it.

SITE
BUILDING RENDERING The idea of this site is to allow visitors to contemplate the magnificence of nature, which in this case involves the volcano, the caldera, and Lake Van. When approaching the building site, visitors will see an enormous black steel wall, which will interrupt the vision towards the caldera, but behind them, their vision will only be directed towards Lake Van. As visitors submerge inside the building structure, they will envision the pattern that was used to create the path. While walking down, into the building, they will get to the platform, that will place them closer to the caldera than location in the volcano.
