Courses Courses are free to residents in the Caia Park and Hightown Communities First areas. Lash and Brow Course (accredited) Where: CS Beauty Academy – Johnstown (Free Transport Provided) When: Date to be confirmed Time: 10.30am – 2.30pm During the lash & brow course you will learn how to enhance the appearance of the eyes. The course allows you to select the colours to suit your clients and to tint both the lashes and brows. You will also learn how to measure and shape the brows using tweezers. On completion of the course you will be issued with a certificate which will allow you to gain public liability insurance to work on paying clients.

A taste of Maths and English (accredited) Do you need to brush up your own maths or English skills to be able to help your child? Do you want to get some qualifications to help you get a job? This course concentrates on what you want to achieve and takes you from the very basics up to level 2 (equivalent to GCSE). Pendine Park - Health and Social Care Coffee Morning Where: Caia Park Partnership – Conference Room When: Friday 29 April Time: 9.30am – 1pm Interested in a career in Health and Social Care? Come along to a free coffee morning and have a chat with Pendine Park staff about a fantastic training opportunity. We are looking for people who are interested in working within the care sector and would be keen to attend a short course within the Pendine Park academy in May. The course will include many Pendine Park care specific activities, relevant care sector training and other work related qualifications. 2
Jigsaw – Job Club Where: Caia Park Partnership – ICT 1 When: Every Tuesday (except school holidays) Time: 12.30pm – 2.30pm Come along to our weekly job club and receive help and support with all aspects of job searching. This includes CV building, online job searches, job applications, interview skills and other activities all designed to further your employment opportunities.
Beginners Email and Social Media (accredited) Where: Caia Park Partnership Conference Room When: Wednesday 27 April (6 weeks) Time: 1.30pm – 4pm You will receive step by step instructions showing you how to set up your own email address, and how to use email. It will also show you how to use social media safely.
Basic Counselling (accredited) Where: Caia Park Partnership Conference Room When: Wednesday 27 April (6 weeks) Time: 9.30am – 12pm This course is designed to give you the basics of what you will need to know to begin your journey to qualify as a counsellor.
English for Speakers of Portuguese Where: Caia Park Partnership ICT 1 When: Thursday 14 April – 23 June (10 sessions) Time: 6pm – 8pm A Portuguese tutor will be teaching basic English to speakers of Portuguese. 3
Upcycling Where: Hightown Community Resource Centre When: Tuesday 19 April (6 weeks) Time: 9.30am – 12pm For those who love craft or would like ideas on how to refresh their unused household objects.
Needle Felting Where: Caia Park Partnership Conference Room When: Tuesday 26 April (5 weeks) Time: 10am – 12pm Come and have a go at creating fairy houses and characters. You will also be able to make a felted purse and abstract picture using mixed media.
Health and Safety (accredited) Where: Luke O’Connor House When: Thursday 5 May Time: 9.30am – 4.30pm A one day accredited course designed to give you knowledge of your responsibilities at work and the legislation requirements.
First Aid (accredited) Where: Caia Park Partnership Conference Room When: Thursday 19 May Time: 9.30am – 4.30pm Learn the essential skills that could help you save a life. 4
Basic English Where: Caia Park Partnership When: Thursday morning Time: 45 minute session Private one to one classes for adults to learn to read and write.
Oriel Crafters/Make Trips Dates and times to be arranged Anyone interested in attending an arts and crafts group are welcome to join us. Materials and tea and coffee are provided. One of the sessions will be a trip to a destination of beauty. Please call to register your interest.
Come and Cook (accredited and non-accredited) Where: Pentregwyn Community Centre When: Tuesday 3 May – 21 June (7 weeks) Time: 10am – 12pm OR Where: Hightown Community Resource Centre When: Thursday 21 April ‐16 June (7 weeks) Time: 11.30am – 2pm (This is run as an accredited Agored Cymru Level 1 Course) Do you want to learn about healthy eating? Do you want to learn some practical cooking skills? If the answer to these questions is yes then Dewch I Goginio/Come and Cook is for you!! This free 7 week practical cookery course focuses on nutrition and practical cooking skills in a relaxed and friendly environment. C
