1.1 INTRODUCTION Congratulations you made a great choice, you chose to study online… We will look at some of the benefits of learning online later, but first, welcome to your course. I am really looking forward to meeting you all and getting started. I am here to facilitate your learning but you are going to be the protagonist! 1.1.2 A GUIDE TO YOUR COURSE Your course is divided into MODULES How long is a module? Each module is divided into UNITS and each unit takes approximately one week to complete (this is based on 3/4 hours of study a week, but depends on individual learners. Some of you may need less time and some of you may need more time.)
5
How will I learn English? At the beginning of each unit you will see your OBJECTIVES. You will complete a variety of activities, individual and in pairs/groups to achieve your objectives. These activities will practise the four skill areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing. You will use a variety multimedia to achieve your objectives.
BUT…
I’m not very confident with technology… Don’t worry! There will always be instructions and/or a video tutorial to help you.
Where is my teacher? I am always around. You can contact me whenever you have a question or problem and I will reply as soon as I can. You will also have two live classes a week with me. I can’t attend class… It’s not a problem. You can watch the recording.
Did I achieve my objectives? At the end of each unit you will complete a self-assessment questionnaire and discuss your answers with your teacher. Then you will make a personal action plan for further study…
I need more practice… At the end of the module you will find more activites
I want to do something more challenging… Have a look at the
6
activities

Do you remember how to use THE IMPERATIVE in English? Don’t procastinate! Be proactive!
You can use the imperative form to give an order, a warning or advice To form the imperative, use the infinitive of the verb without 'to': "Be proactive!" To make a negative imperative, put "do not" or "don't" before the verb: "Don't procrastinate!" The imperative can be used for all subjects
Look at my TOP TIPS again and continue the list with your ideas. Use the imperative…
