Located in Semenyih, Broga Ville is a residential project aims to incorporate resort living style into our daily lives. This project is currently in schematic design stage developing its schematic design to be proposed to the client.
3.2.3 3D Modelling I was given the chance to design one of the facades of the Semi-D residential unit by using Sketch-up. Elements such as timber louvres, screens and water features were incorporated into the Semi-D units to achieve the design intention.
3.2.1 Setting up of site boundary Throughout the setting out site boundary, I was given a site plan in CAD file and I assisted in the plotting of site boundary and building plotting to ensure the proposed lot for each unit meets the authority requirement. Selangor building guideline book was referred as a guidance throughout the process.
3.2.4 Authority and Permit Application In week 6, I followed my colleague, visited Majlis Perbandaran Kajang for the enquiry of the planning approval. During the meeting with the authority, my colleague taught me and guided me through the process of building planning approval. Site plan drawings were prepared before consulting the authority.
3.2.5 Reflection Through this assigned task, I was given chance to expose to residential project in a smaller scale . Reference images is as important as conceptual diagrams to illustrate the architects ideas and design intention. Setting up of site boundary is the most basic yet crucial requirement that we should not neglect before starting the design. One of the main challenge faced during this phase was familiarize with the company CAD lineweight format and creating 3D model with Sketch Up as I was not familiar with the software. However, with the guidance of colleague and practice, I was able to adapt to the software and improve my model making skills throughout the internship period.
3.2.2 Presentation slides preparation The masterplan of the development was rendered to suit the theme, Balinese resort living concept. Conceptual images of the key proposed spaces were prepared to be applied in the proposal slides. 20

3.3.7 Reflection Throughout this project I was given chance to expose to preliminary stage from project briefing to 3D rendering. It was a great experience as I was given chance to involve in this project and improve my computer application skills. With guidance, I learnt to make appropriate amendment to fullfil the building by-law. Practicality was one of the main focus to ensure the building reach the minimum requirement. Softwares such as AUTOCAD is crucial and the accuracy of drawings produced was important. The main challenge faced was to create a facade design that was both functional, aesthetic and economical. As a Semester 4 student, it was a hard for me as I was not able to determine and identify the construction cost. Therefore, the designs were lack of practicality. However with the guidance and advice from my colleagues and team leader, I was able to reach a compromise, finding a balance between design and practicality. Other than that, 3D modelling and Rendering with Lumion was one of the biggest challenge. It was time-consuming as I was not used to the softwares. Fortunately, my kind and patient colleague was willing to help me through the process and give constructive comments from time to time.
3.3.6 Perspective Rendering 3D model was the imported to Lumion to be rendered. Key spaces were selected to demonstrate the experience for each space. 23

3 4.3 Reflection It was a great opportunity to have a chance to visit the construction site and have handon experience as well as learning from the professionals. It was a fun experience using the traction lift to reach the rooftop for inspection as it was my first time. I grab the opportunity to learn by asking a lot of questions on site. Photos were taken as references for further studies. Throughout the process, I learnt that architectural details were crucial as it might not seem important, but it affects the overall user experience as well as functionality of the building. Other than architectural design, building services should be integrated instead of being neglected. Site safety is a must for everyone on site. Overall it was a fun and experiential site visit.
