Faculty and Research IIMU's academic programmes are based on global best practices in curriculum design and delivery. To achieve this, we have created an environment that has attracted a young core faculty with the potential to be second to none – graduates of the top schools in India, Europe and North America. IIMU actively invests in the growth of our faculty with the objective of seeing the excellence of their scholarship recognized by global peers and their research published in Tier 1 journals. In a departure from the structure in many B-schools in India, administrative roles at IIMU for functions such as Programme Management, Student Affairs, Admissions and Placements are handled primarily by professionals with oversight by faculty groups. This frees individual faculty to focus on their core responsibilities of teaching and research. Visiting faculty enrich this mix – some of the most respected names from leading management schools in India and abroad keep returning to IIMU to teach in its stimulating and liberating environment. Senior industry leaders are also welcomed to campus throughout the year to give courses and lectures from a practitioner's perspective.
Building IIM Udaipur IIM Udaipur is young and dynamic. We have the opportunity of designing an Institute that reflects global thought and best practices; in doing this we have the freedom to think and act differently, uniquely, without restrictions. Our inspiration comes from the leaders in management education in India and internationally. IIMU aspires to take its place among world class management schools creating global knowledge. Certainly, we will be at the forefront of knowledge dissemination, with the highest quality teaching to deliver our programmes. But we place equal emphasis on research and knowledge creation and have attracted young and accomplished faculty whose curiosity and skill will spearhead this objective.
IIMU has already established three centres of excellence to actively pursue and support research in three of the Institute's priority areas: Centre for Development Management (CDM) Udaipur is one of the leading hubs for practitioners of development management in India. It has practically become the NGO capital of India. The CDM at IIM Udaipur works closely with the main NGOs in the region to conduct research and build capabilities in this sector. The CDM collaborates with the leading international school working in this field, Duke University's Sanford School of Public policy. IIMU is committed to nurturing leaders and entrepreneurs who will power their organisations in the emerging economies. At the same time the Institute remains deeply rooted to the region and the nation. An underlying priority for IIMU is to instill in our students a sense of commitment as managers to have a socially responsible impact; to give them an understanding of how difficult and challenging this often can be; and to provide the knowledge and tools to enable them to do so.
One of the key ways in which IIMU intends to make a difference to the region is by promoting entrepreneurship. We are creating an ecosystem which supports new enterprises and innovative young entrepreneurs. Part of this agenda is achieved through the Management Development Programme for Women Entrepreneurs. IIMU also actively promotes this attitude in all its post graduate programmes.
We have consciously created a culture that values collegiality and accessibility, with open doors at all levels. In the near future, we will complete construction of a world class campus with infrastructure and technology second to none. This campus will be the base from which we scale up over the next twenty years and beyond to make a truly significant impact.
The CBA is the result of a collaboration with IBM. The Centre brings cutting-edge research in analytics and big data to the classroom by offering customized practice-oriented courses in all our programmes. The delivery of these courses as well as significant research in this area is achieved in the purpose-built Analytics Lab.

The Fabric of IIMU From both outside and inside, the Institute is supported by many accomplished people. They bring visionary leadership in crafting the overall direction of IIMU and the design of our programmes; in fostering regular interaction with industry to keep our programmes aligned with the needs of business; and in providing professional expertise for our key activities. Our Board of Governors comprises senior leaders from the corporate world, national and state governments, academia and the judiciary. Their vision, knowledge and leadership are invaluable in guiding the institute from our founding down the path to becoming a mature and respected part of the world of management education in India. The Academic Advisory Board provides a framework for pedagogic rigour and excellence with respect to the content and delivery of all our programmes. Some of the most highly regarded names in management education, both in India and abroad, have given IIMU the benefit of their experience. Mentorship also plays a central role at IIMU. We benefit from a host of industry experts who have offered their time and support for mentoring our students. Each student in every programme has access to these experienced practitioners who interact with them not just by email but via social media, telephone calls as well as occasional visits to campus. IIMU also provides students with career mentoring support to help them in identifying their career path and making the best academic choices to accomplish their goals. On the ground activities relating to programme management, corporate relations, student engagement and career development are managed by seasoned professionals. The combination of the exceptional faculty in the classroom and these professionals supporting the academics outside the classroom ensures an integrated learning environment focused on the scholastic and personal growth of the students.

Clear objectives. Maximum impact. For a new Institute, the priority is to get its fundamentals right. At IIM Udaipur we do not try to do everything. We have chosen to do a few key things, do them differently and make sure they are of the highest standard. The programmes offered by the Institute reflect this approach. IIMU's post graduate programmes build on the proven results that have earned IIMs global respect. But we have adapted and customized them so that our graduates offer unique skills and training in an increasingly competitive global workplace. IIMU students also benefit from an individualized support system to help them take advantage of the array of academic and extra-curricular choices available, so their personal journey at IIMU reflects their needs, interests and priorities. Similarly, we have been selective in the short-duration programmes we offer. IIMU has explicitly chosen to focus exclusively on mission-driven executive education. Clear objectives. Maximum impact. Core programmes Mission-Driven Short Duration Programmes PGP The two year Post Graduate Programme in Management is the Institute's flagship programme and all efforts are directed to make it an experience that is beyond the expectations of all stakeholders. We strive to attract students who have a vision of themselves which is bigger than their next job. We are fast becoming the first choice for entrepreneurs in-themaking and trailblazers in uncharted territory. The PGP admits 120 candidates every year and is confident they will become valued brand ambassadors for the Institute.
We undertake only a limited number of short duration programmes which have been designed to reflect our vision and priorities.
Management Development Programme for Women Entrepreneurs (MDPWE) Exemplifying our commitment to creating entrepreneurs, this MDPWE is designed to equip and empower women to become not just entrepreneurs but social catalysts. This programme is a reinforcement of IIM Udaipur's strong bond with the region. Candidates from Rajasthan are awarded special scholarships to ensure that the region benefits the most.

Summer Programme for Future Leaders in Development
The 15 month Dual degree Post Graduate Programme in Global Supply Chain Management is unique among Indian one year MBA programmes. While it provides a thorough grounding in management fundamentals, it is the only one year MBA that offers an intensive specialization in supply chain management. It is designed and undertaken as a full partnership with Purdue University in the USA, one of the world leaders in the SCM domain. Graduates earn a PGPX diploma from IIM Udaipur as well as an MS in Global Supply Chain Management from Purdue – all with a single objective: to be at the forefront of the SCM domain.
All the scientific and economic development across the world means nothing to the one in six people who go to bed hungry every day. The world, and especially India, needs skilled and accomplished development management professionals in leadership roles who can make a difference. IIM Udaipur collaborates with the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University to offer a two month long Summer School programme which brings together students from Duke, Post Graduate Development Management students from some of the top schools in India and young practitioners from NGOs across the country. The singular objective of this Programme is to create the next generation of leaders in this domain who will positively impact the development management sector in the years to come.

Key Building Blocks of IIMU
The IIM Udaipur vision and pedagogical approach are embodied in the following characteristics which underlie all our programmes and activities.
Entrepreneurship One of IIMU's key aims is to ensure that students have the freedom and institutional support they need to explore their entrepreneurial ambitions. This is reflected in all aspects of our programmes: in-depth orientation to entrepreneurship on day one; an inspiring range of elective courses; intensive mentoring during the programme and beyond; flexible placement options for students choosing to pursue an entrepreneurial venture; assistance in procuring seed funding and equity capital. If being an entrepreneur excites you, there is no better place to be in India.
International Perspective At IIM Udaipur, learning has no boundaries. Our initiatives to instill a global perspective are an integral part of all our activities: the International Business in Practice course enables students to work on short duration consulting assignments at international locations; PGPX students spend an entire five-month semester at Purdue University mastering advanced global SCM; Duke University sends a cohort of public policy students every year for the Summer School for Future Leaders in Development; IIM Udaipur represents India in the Global Business Project, a consortium of prominent B-schools across the world which enables international groups of students to work on live business projects in emerging economies; other opportunities include international student exchange programmes and overseas summer internships.
Industry Interface Our priority is to ensure that students understand how theory meets practice across all functional areas. We create many opportunities for students to rub shoulders and match wits with industry leaders throughout the year. These interactions are not limited to internships, live projects and case discussions. The students organize and moderate summits and panel discussions that bring together experts, thinkers and practitioners from India and abroad. Students also benefit from intensive mentoring by committed and enthusiastic industry professionals.
Immersion as a Philosophy The world over, MBA programmes are realizing that learning is best achieved by doing. At IIMU, this indispensable idea translates to Immersion – in other words, getting students to dive into real-life environments and explore learning for themselves: Corporate Immersion, through live projects and internships in India and abroad; International Immersion, through student exchanges, internships, and courses like International Business in Practice and Global Business Project; Rural Immersion, where students gain an understanding of rural India by spending a week in a village where they work closely with NGOs to appreciate on-the-ground realities and challenges faced by those at the bottom of the pyramid.

Where History Meets the Future Life to the Full IIMU aims to attract a different kind of candidate to its post graduate programmes. High academic potential is essential, not enough. What matters is a willingness to unlearn and relearn, to delve deeply within and without. We expect our students to bring hunger to the table – demanding more from themselves, their classmates and the Institute. Each batch plays a vital role in advancing the evolving culture of the campus. Even at this nascent stage, IIMU already has a student-written constitution in place as well as an honour code and a values-driven student selfgovernment. The rigour and high standards from inside the classroom are carried to all campus activities and community life outside the classroom. Both academically and in a rich choice of extracurricular options, the spectrum of experience that IIMU offers its students ranges from the rural to the global. Myriad clubs and committees encourage students to explore nature, culture, sports, art and adventure with no limit but their curiosity and enthusiasm. With IIMU's relatively small student population, every student has an opportunity to make a meaningful impact and this is the motivation we offer them – to transform not just their own lives but by helping build the fabric of this new IIM to help transform the lives of many others.
