WELCOME Welcome to Adult Learning at Little Angel Theatre. Throughout the year we offer a range of training for professionals at different levels of career development. Some courses require existing puppetry skills, some are open to beginners and those working in associated creative industries, for example theatre, animation and film. Our training opportunities can also be useful for teachers, workshop leaders, support workers and therapists. This season we are pleased to welcome back Mark Makin with his unique course, Tour Booking – The Essential Guide, and Clare Kissane, voice and public speaking expert. TOUR BOOKING THE ESSENTIAL GUIDE With Mark Makin, makin projects ltd
MAKING YOURSELF HEARD
Trainer and tour booker Mark Makin will guide you through the particular set of skills and specialist knowledge that you need to successfully book a tour.
Whether chairing a meeting, presenting to an audience, pitching ideas or networking in a social gathering, sometimes women find it difficult to make themselves heard. Anxiety and nerves can cause tension in the larynx, creating a change in pitch.
This course will enable you to organise a realistic budget and schedule; start building relationships with suitable venues for your work; market your shows effectively; develop systems for contracting and managing tours; understand the basics of overseas tour booking and more. Voice training and presentation workshop for women with Clare Kissane
This workshop, led by specialist voice coach Clare Kissane, will give you a set of tools which will help you to find and free your natural voice, giving it resonance, clarity and confidence. Sun 12 May 10am - 5pm £65/£50 concessions. Location: Studios

AN INTRODUCTION TO PUPPETRY PERFORMANCE With Oliver Smart, Folded Feather This two day crash course for total beginners assists you in discovering the essential skills needed to bring puppets and objects alive. The session will include learning about puppet life, breath and focus. An entertaining and comprehensive introduction to the art of the puppeteer and a springboard to the world of professional development and training at Little Angel Theatre. USING PUPPETRY TO HELP CHILDREN ACHIEVE POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEIR PEERS A CPD session for teachers, EYFS practitioners and educators This workshop will explore how puppetry can help teach children to manage conflicts and explore feelings around difficult decisions and dilemmas. The practical session will include activities and ideas that can be used in a classroom or group setting with children. Suitable for anyone who is keen to learn how to use puppetry to support PSHE and Citizenship teaching. Mon 3 June 4.15pm - 6.30pm £40/£30 concessions Location: Studios

Voice training and presentation workshop with Clare Kissane

Your voice matters - it represents who you are. It is a powerful tool.
An evening exploring the creative process of making theatre with puppetry.
Passionate about the power of the voice and its ability to liberate, Clare combines her skills as an actor and vocal coach to work on the body as well as the voice. Improving posture and vocal production is known to increase a sense of confidence and wellbeing.
This event is for puppetry practitioners and writers or dramaturgs. There will be an opportunity to engage in some practical work and to network with other professionals from the field of puppetry, visual theatre, writing and dramaturgy.
All levels of experience welcome.
Rachel Warr is a theatre director, dramaturg and puppeteer who focuses on developing new work.

DIY SHADOW SHOWS: MAKE YOUR OWN SHADOW PUPPETS With Matthew Robins Using his own shows as a starting point, Matthew will demonstrate various ways to make paper cut-out shadow puppets and scenery, as well as experimenting with objects and lights to explore the process of creating abstract imagery and colour projections. This two day workshop is suitable for beginners of all ages as well as artists with more experience in shadow puppetry.

Our adult term-long courses offer a deeper connection to the art form and an opportunity to develop larger scale projects. We will be running our very popular Puppetry Foundation Course in the Autumn Term. More courses to be announced during the year.

MATTHEW'S PUPPET FILM CLUB
Thurs 16 May / Thurs 13 June / Thurs 11 July 7.30pm
A monthly film night curated by artist and puppet-maker Matthew Robins (Flyboy). Each month Matthew will be screening a different film, hand-picked and featuring his favourite screen puppets. There will also be games, performances, prizes, and popcorn.
