N O S T A L G H I A FW. 2016-17

For the new 2016/17 Fall-Winter collection, LCF travels back in time to the late 18th, early 19th century. A time when silence, darkness, exhaustion and the cold, interminable days were the inseparable companions of many boys and girls. A time when the games, songs and dreams of children were snatched away by the Industrial Revolution. Years when modernization and the beginning of consumerism robbed many a childhood. This collection pays homage to all of those boys and girls who were victims of this unstoppable machine called progress. To achieve this, we have travelled to a small village in the Catalan Pyranees called Arsèguel, to an old wool factory from 1902 that is still producing today. This place provides the perfect cinematic backdrop for our 21st century children to pay homage to all the small Oliver Twists that lived during the Industrial Revolution. Time has stopped here. Only the great Segre river and above all the passion and wisdom of the locals have made it possible for these old centenarian machines to crank back into action and begin the long and rhythmic process of transforming wool. Once it has passed through the carding, spinning and weaving machines, the fleeces of virgin wool are transformed into balls of strong thread, which, in exper t hands are woven into the warm clothes needed for a hard winter in the mountains. The essence of the brand, our continual search and experimentation when designing and working with different fabrics is reflected in this, our most experimental and conceptual collection so far. Once again, hanging up in the children’s wardrobe we have our redesigned dungarees, jackets and aprons, the shir tdresses and caps. Every one of these garments has a character of its own, but is designed to be experimented with, to be playful and imaginative with. Combining and layering the garments leads to unexpected and surprising looks. There are no limits, no rules. LCF aims to prompt creativity through its selection and combination of clothes based on versatility; every small or big dreamer creates an unexpected look that will bring out their personality. In this new collection we have experimented with the textures and densities to stimulate the senses and sensations. Carefully created volumes bring personality and a daring edge to each garment and accessory. It is all pure emotion. The palette of colors made up of black, grey and fabric’s natural colors, makes us think of coal mines, large factories of the era and prime materials. While black is the binding thread that pulls together the collection and adds a functional edge to some of the more groundbreaking and characterful clothes and accessories, the grey-silver color brings an experimental and technical angle to them. In the meantime, the natural color that we use in our 100% natural fabrics bring warmth and comfor t to nur ture us through the cold winter days. Breaking away from the natural tones, we have a stripy range that surprises and revolutionizes the dresses and overalls in our collection. Finally, Little Creative Factory wants to pay homage to a trade and to an era in which every hand woven or spun piece was a small work of ar t. For this reason, this collection has introduced some key pieces: a hat and a scarf made of a merino wool, both of them wonderfully voluminous and knitted by hand with absolute care and dedication. Small creations that symbolize our love of hand-crafted pieces, of the wisdom and passion that belong to bygone days. An era when garments and accessories were made out of materials that came straight from nature and by hands with many tales to tell. A time when the words ‘globalization’ and industrialization’ never went fur ther than the factory doors. Just as these words remain at the doors of our small creative factory, for one season more, Little Creative Factory continues in its suppor t of local manufacturing, suppliers and philosophy of 100% made in Barcelona.

‘Where do these children go for whom nobody laughs? These sweet, thoughtful beings, faded by fever? These eight year-old girls we see walking alone? They go to work - fifteen hours in the factories; They go from dawn to dusk, eternally repeating The same motions in the same prison…’ Victor Hugo

N O S T A L G H I A it’s delicate, but potent. In Greek “Nostalgia” literally means the pain from an old wound It’s a twinge in your heart far more powerful than memory alone -a feeling of a place where we ache to go again-
