COMPREHENSIVE CANCER CARE CENTER Las Vegas, NV 57,000 sf This project, for a confidential Fortune 10 healthcare client, is a 57,000 sf clinic renovation featuring Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, a Breast Center, General Imaging, a 26-chair infusion clinic, and a 1,125 sf USP 800 Pharmacy. The Radiation Oncology area contains both a large-bore CT Simulator as well as a PET/CT while a future LINAC vault is planned to integrate seamlessly into the building. The project also utilized LEAN design principles for increased operational efficiency and patient satisfaction.

SHARP CORONADO: IMAGING DEPA R T MEN T RENOVAT ION Coronado, CA 780 sf Sharp wanted to create a more inviting space for their Imaging rooms, perpetuating the Planetree concept already infused at the Coronado location. Focusing on the patient experience within the imaging rooms, as patients tend to spend longer periods of time here during procedures, Little provided patient distractions in the form of ceiling elements, lighting levels and unique wall art. Within the RF room and attached restroom, the design references elements that would be experienced at a Spa. This helps patients feel more relaxed and comfortable during their visits.

CONFIDENTIAL CLIENT: OSHPD-3 T RE AT MEN T CENTER Orange County, CA The focus of the clinic is to provide a welcoming and calm space for older patients with Dementia and Alzheimer’s. The patient journey, especially for Neuroscience patients, is very important to keep the environment smooth, quiet, and easily manageable. Through research based design - the use of daylighting, the application of our color palette, and the advantages of wayfinding all provide the patients and their caregivers an enhanced experience. The finishes are used to promote safe, warm, and a palette that is both helpful for Neuroscience patients and branded to the client name. 8

MEDICAL CENTER: F E TA L DI AGNOS T IC OSHPD- 3 CEN T ER Orange County, CA The Fetal Diagnostic Center provides prenatal testing for expectant mothers, whose pregnancies have been determined “high risk.” Patients are usually referred to the Fetal Diagnostic Center by their obstetrician’s office. The idea for this project was to provide a safe welcoming environment for expectant mothers. The concept of comfort is directly related to the creation of spaces of physical and mental wellbeing. In architectural terms, it refers to ambient qualities like noise level and temperature and other factors that are most abstract, like sense of security. The center was design with soft colors and defined patient and staff space to make the patient feel comfortable. We have also included patient distractors in the form of art, music and visually pleasing architectural features.

MOON VA L L E Y PRIM A RY CARE CLINIC Phoenix, AZ 8,833 sf This project combines two growing, existing clinics into one location. Despite the challenge of a smaller footprint for an “On-Stage – Off-Stage” Lean concept, our team was able to create a facility with 16 exam rooms, off-stage offices on an on-stage corridor, x-ray and DEXA rooms, and administrative spaces.

HEMET NAMM DENOVO COMMUNI T Y HE A LT H CLINIC Hemet , CA 19,587 sf Our client requested a new Primary Care / Community Center hybrid clinic. The purpose of the clinic was to create a space for preventive care while dually serving the community as a place to meet, play games, exercise, and take classes, such as yoga, cooking, and dancing. This clinic was designed as on stage / off stage and includes an on stage x-ray, 15 exam rooms, a procedure room, with a 3:1 provider ratio, and a 2:1 mid level ratio.

MUNCIE CLINICAL BUILDING Carmel, IN 24,464 sf Little first planned the site for Muncie Clinical Building Project as a 49,000 GSF Build-out over two phases, and then executed the first phase of a 24,464 GSF Shell and Core Development with Hokansen Companies, Inc and then was also served as the Tenant’s Architect for its Specialty Eye Care Center inside for our Confidential Fortune 500 Client. As part of the Shell and Core Work, Little also carefully coordinated for the concurrent installation of a Ambulatory Surgery Center within the building as well. Little served this project with several in-house disciplines: Architecture, Interior Design, Structural Engineering, and Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Engineering while also fully coordinating site development with local Civil Engineering and Landscape Design team members. 18

UCLA: IR WORKROOOM Los Angeles, CA 280 sf All projects, no matter how big or small are important to us as they help deliver quality of support that is needed for both staff and patients. At the recently opened Interventional Radiology Department at UCLA’s Reagan Medical Center, the physicians found that they needed better reading and charting facilities for themselves that they had not been provided with the original design. The problem of course that Little needed to solve was to find where to put such a space and then how to design it. Fortunately, an under utilized lab room was found that could be converted, and Little then worked closely with the Staff to design a Workroom into the existing space, gain OSHPD Approval and then a successful project constructed. Through projects like these, Little helps healthcare, helps our client’s staff and customers, gains credibility with our Owners and establishes trust with OSHPD through our abilities, insights and responsibility in our work ethic.

YUMA REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER: MASTERPLAN STUDY
LEVEL 03 62,280 SF
Yuma, AZ As part of a five-year facility master planning effort, Little was charged with completing a full survey of the existing campus, including a 406-licensed bed hospital, in collaboration with the Facility’s Strategic Planning Team. The final master plan includes blocking diagrams of the various departmental adjustments or relocations, and diagrammatic department test fits. Site access, pedestrian, visitor and staff flow, and parking strategies were also studied to better improve patient and staff experiences.

CHIL DREN’S OU TPAT IEN T CEN T ER Charlotte, NC In January of 2019, Little was tasked with developing a 10-15 year Master Facility Plan to co-locate and expand the existing Levine Children’s Specialty clinics. Many existing clinics have outgrown their current physical space and need to expand in order to service the needs of children in the Charlotte area, improve the patient/family experience, and recruit staff and physicians. In addition, the focus of medical services for children has shifted from general pediatrics to multi-specialty care pediatrics. Patients with complex illness require care from a care team rather and a single physician. Atrium Health’s goal is provide a central multi-specialty pediatric center on their main campus as a “one stop shop” for patients who currently visit a number of decentralized locations. The team evaluated emerging clinic trends and the proposed Medical Office Building condition and infrastructure to develop a solution.

First cancer network in the world to earn the top distinction in patient-centered care. Best at putting patients first.
LEVINE CANCER INSTITUTE E XPANSION Charlotte, NC 260,000 sf The Levine Cancer Institute, the first multi-site cancer center in the world to be certified by the Planetree Organization, has a mission of providing a comforting experience for patients, families, and caregivers as they journey toward healing. Patient experience workshops, facilitated in collaboration with the Patient/Family Advisory Council, informed the design’s guiding principles of celebrating interaction, supporting the journey, providing holistic care, and honoring mind/body/spirit. These principles are embodied in the numerous experience elements found throughout, namely the interfaith chapel, centralized lab/registration area, improved dining facilities, infusion bays with vegetative roof views, and extensive natural light.

The project features The HEARTest Yard Congenital Heart Center, which was made possible by Greg Olsen, former Tight End for the Carolina Panthers, through Receptions of Research: The Greg Olsen Foundation. With central goals of enhancing customer experience, increasing staff efficiency, and enhancing multi-disciplinary sub-specialty care, the team developed an internal on stage / off stage concept, with emphasis on positive distraction, wayfinding, and natural light. The clinic expands from the existing 10 exam rooms to 25 exam rooms housed in 3 neighborhood clinic modules.
