What to Look for in a Day Care For first-time parents or even families with multiple children, the decision to place your little bundle of joy in someone else’s care be a difficult one. However, the benefits of day care can be significant, especially for children who start a program as infants. A high-quality early childhood program not only promotes children’s safety and well-being, but also supports their growth and development at a critical time in life as children’s brains develop more rapidly from birth to age 5 than any other time in their lives. “The pressure on families to do what’s best for their children while balancing the need to safely return to consistent routines is immense,” said Dr. Elanna Yalow, chief academic officer of KinderCare Learning Centers. “Many families have concerns about possible health risks to their children. At the same time, there are extensive data that demonstrate children are actually safer and better off developmentally when they are around other children. It’s no wonder so many families feel conflicted. Rigorous safety protocols give families confidence they can count on our programs to protect their children and help them thrive.” Consider these things when seeking care for your infant: Safety First Ensure the providers you’re considering follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, American Academy of Pediatrics, and local health department guidelines. Beyond COVID-19 protocols, look for a program with teachers and staff that take pride in keeping children safe, particularly when it comes to safe sleep. Confirm the provider has external validation of their program’s quality, like national accreditation.

Responsive Teachers Who Care for Your Baby Like You Do Caring for young children requires a unique set of skills. Understanding what children need at each age and stage in life comes with expertise and an ability to build relationships with them. It should be clear right away your baby will be in a warm, nurturing environment and supervised by teachers who will respond promptly to your baby’s every coo, gurgle, smile and cry with kindness and compassion. Strong Communication You’ll know you’ve landed in the right place when your child’s teacher and day care staff feel like an extension of your family. To help start things on the right foot, share expectations and preferences with your potential provider early. It’s important the caregiver knows how often you want updates and what kind of information is most meaningful to you – whether that includes videos and photos, phone calls or texts, or short notes about the things your child is doing. They should also be available to answer your questions and ask their own in return to ensure they’re supporting your baby in the best way possible while also encouraging your child to develop at his or her own pace. It’s important for teachers to understand key milestones and how to support your baby’s ongoing growth and development. When parents know their babies are safe, happy, and loved, they can focus on all the other things they need to do. MANAGING COLD AND FLU SEASON As temperatures drop, the risk of illness – including cold and flu – rises. It can be easy to mistake the flu for a common cold since many of the symptoms are the same, but muscle aches, cough, fever, headaches and sore throat are some of the more common signs you may be suffering from the flu, which tends to come on quicker than a cold. In fact, a random, double-opt-in OnePoll survey of 2,005 Americans commissioned by Mucinex found sore throat pain to be one of the top three most debilitating symptoms along with fever and migraine. While there’s no way to ensure you and your family members won’t get sick, there are steps you can take to reduce the chances. Get a Flu Shot The flu spreads differently than colds and can be transmitted before symptoms even arise. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends all people older than 6 months of age get the influenza vaccine, or flu shot, annually to help protect against the strains of flu expected to be the most common during the current flu season. The injection, which does not contain a live virus, goes into the arm muscle to generate antibodies that protect against future flu infection about two weeks after receiving the vaccine. Practice Self-Care While important year-round, maintaining regular self-care practices can go a long way toward maintaining your health during cold and flu season. Eating a well-balanced diet of fruits, vegetables and lean proteins can help strengthen your immune system, as can working out moderately 8 | Celina LifeAndLuxuryMagazine.com
each day. Regular exercise also helps reduce inflammation. In addition, proper hydration can help maintain many important body functions, and getting the National Sleep Foundation-recommended 7-9 hours of sleep can help keep antibodies strong and build a defense against illnesses. Prepare for Symptoms As one of the common symptoms of the flu, sore throat pain can flip your life upside down with the constant nagging, disruptive pain and irritation. However, 55% of those surveyed said they were likely to “power through” a sore throat and continue working, going to school and completing other tasks while dealing with sore throat pain. To make powering through easier, the Mucinex InstaSoothe line includes lozenges and sprays designed to numb, soothe and relieve sore throat pain. “What separates these lozenges from others is they’re clinically proven to numb sore throat pain fast,” said Dr. Omid Mehdizadeh, MD, otolaryngology, and head and neck (ENT) surgeon. “Both lozenge varieties contain Hexylresorcinol, a local anesthetic for topical use on the mucous membranes of the throat and mouth. As a lozenge dissolves in the mouth, it starts to
deliver a local ‘numbing’ anesthetic effect directly to the throat within seconds, lasting up to two hours. For those needing relief from a sore throat and cough, the Mucinex InstaSoothe Sore Throat + Cough Relief Lozenges also contain the active ingredient Dextromethorphan HBr to provide cough suppression.” Stock Your Medicine Cabinet Be ready before cold and flu hit your household. Take inventory of your medicine cabinet, get rid of any expired medicines and make note of any you need to replace and replenish. Make sure you have pain relievers, fever reducers, decongestants, antihistamines and cough syrups that can be used to help fight cold and flu symptoms. In addition, think about other supplies you may need to have on hand such as tissues, cough drops, hand sanitizer, anti-bacterial soap, a thermometer and a humidifier. Disinfect Household Surfaces Cold and flu viruses can live outside the human body on hard, non-porous surfaces such as metal, plastic and wood for hours, and sometimes even days. Regularly cleaning often-touched household surfaces such as doorknobs, light switches, remote controls, faucet handles and countertops with a disinfectant spray or wipe can help kill germs that cause the viruses. Look for Environmental Protection Agency-approved disinfectants containing bleach, alcohol, pine oil, sodium hypochlorite, citric acid, hydrogen peroxide or quaternary ammonium compounds for best results.

Remember Healthy Habits One of the easiest ways to help avoid getting sick is to practice proper hygiene. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth as much as possible, as these are areas where cold and flu germs can most easily gain entry into your system. Remember to cough and sneeze into a tissue or into your elbow if a tissue is not readily available. Frequently wash your hands with warm water and anti-bacterial soap for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the restroom, before eating and after touching surfaces in public places. A good rule of thumb is to sing “Happy Birthday” twice to judge the time. Using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer can also suffice when a sink isn’t within close proximity. Also avoid sharing items like utensils and cups, even with family members, to help avoid spreading germs.

Have a Plan for Sick Days During cold and flu season, you or one of your family members may become ill and need to miss work or school. If you typically work in an office space, check to see if working remotely is possible and verify your office’s policies about sick time. Saving sick time or a couple vacation days for the season can help avoid having to take unpaid time off if you need to stay home for any reason. Also consider enlisting the help of friends or relatives to help with sick children in the event you’re unable to take time off from work, and coordinate with your children’s teachers to ensure your little ones receive any schoolwork they may have missed while home sick. CREATE A HEALTHIER HOME THROUGH SMART UPDATES Many homeowners looking to improve their living spaces seek out upgrades that can add visual appeal, improve functionality, or increase resale value. However, some updates can also benefit the mental and physical health of those who occupy the space. While making your home healthier can involve simple steps like decluttering, swapping out cleaning products for natural versions and opening windows to let in more fresh air, there are other projects that can be done to create longer-lasting results. Consider these ideas to create spaces that are not only functional and beautiful but also impart a sense of well-being. Apply a Fresh Coat of Paint Changing the color of a room can transform your space while also positively impacting your mood. Bright, warm colors like yellow may be uplifting while cooler shades like beige, pale green and soft blue can be soothing. Repainting can also help prevent mold and mildew growth on walls while repelling dust and allergens. Traditional oil- and latex-based paints give off gases that may cause issues such as eye and respiratory irritation. Look for paints with no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and that are certified not to contain heavy metals, carcinogens and other harmful compounds. Upgrade Your Flooring Made of natural materials, hardwood flooring is not only attractive but is a hygienic, easy-to-clean choice. The organic beauty and grain of the wood creates an intrinsic connection to nature. You can set the foundation for your living spaces with an option like artisan-crafted Carlisle Wide Plank Floors. Each floor is handcrafted, one board at a time, from sustainably sourced timbers. Whether you select each detail – wood species, grade, texture and color – or choose from a collection of popular tried-and-true finishes, the result is a unique floor with distinctive character. Learn more at wideplankflooring.com. Add Natural Light If your home lacks adequate natural lighting, adding or replacing windows and skylights can allow more sunlight into your living space. This offers several benefits, including an improved sense of well-being and increased productivity, not to mention the potential cost savings when you install energy-efficient versions. Additionally, light-blocking shades and adjustable light technologies can work with natural circadian rhythms to enhance sleep.
Local Expertise Innovative Approach Real Integrity STACY CATE
Modernize the Kitchen From appliances to countertops, there are a variety of kitchen upgrades that can make your space healthier. Incorporating automated technology like a touchless faucet can reduce the amount of contact with germs while a water filtration system can improve the quality of your drinking water. Updating your countertops with a non-porous material like quartz, which replicates the look of natural stone, provides a contemporary aesthetic, and the antimicrobial surface will not harbor bacteria or viruses. Create a Bathroom Oasis Even a small space like the bathroom can benefit from wellness-focused updates. Soaking tubs and spa showers with hydrotherapy showerheads can help reduce stress and provide a mental respite. Additionally, a heated towel rack not only brings a touch of luxury but can reduce energy usage and keep towels free of mold and mildew between washes. Touchless faucets and toilets can also help reduce the spread of germs while bringing convenience.

A Few Thoughts to Make Gardening Easier
in different bloom times and variations in color, form and texture. It’s just the heavy maintenance chores that should be consolidated.
Making gardening easier doesn’t mean there won’t always be something to do in the garden. Although most gardeners enjoy the time they spend working in their gardens, there comes a point when garden tasks can get ahead of you, making you can feel like you’ve bitten off more than you can chew. The following gardening and garden planning tips can put you a little ahead of the game.
Choose Lower Maintenance Perennials
Some of these tips are common sense and some may seem like more work in the short term, but they all really will make gardening easier for you. And that way you’ll have time to create even more gardens!
Raised Beds & Containers
Feed the Soil You’ve heard it a thousand times, but do you, do it? Start with great soil and you’ll wind up with great plants. Healthy plants get fewer diseases, attract less insect pests and require less water. Plus, you won’t have to remember to fertilizer every other week. Start with a good analysis of your existing soil. You can have all the essential nutrients tested or just the pH. Many nurseries provide this service as well as your local Cooperative Extension Service. If your soil is deficient in any minerals or nutrients, amend the soil according to recommendations. Then keep adding organic matter, like compost, regularly. Slow release, organic fertilizers can help supplement deficient nutrients. But feeding plants with synthetic fertilizers can actually destroy the beneficial organisms and organic matter within soil and only provide a short fix. It’s like turning your garden into a drug addict. It will need regular doses of fertilizer and more and more to get the same effect. Group Plants by Their Needs I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “Right plant for the right spot.” That’s the beginning of the equation. Of course, you’re going to want to put sun lovers in the sun and ground covers where they can roam. But consider how efficient it would be if you put all your water hogs together so you could just turn on the sprinklers or drag the hose to one area and be done. The same goes for plants that require a lot of deadheading or vegetables that need to be harvested daily or hourly, like zucchini. You can still mix 16 | Celina LifeAndLuxuryMagazine.com
There will always be prima donna plants you have to have but make the backbone of your garden perennial flowers that can take care of themselves. Plants like Astilbes and Sedums that look good all season and don’t need deadheading, pinching or staking. Here are even more low maintenance perennials.
It’s much easier to control your garden if it has definite boundaries. Containers provide the ultimate in control. You control the soil, water, exposure and even limit the growth of the plants in the container. Raised beds separate the garden beds from their surroundings. Ideally, lift the beds up by 6 inches or more. You’ll have the benefits of controlling your borders and you’ll be saving your back from some bending. Install Drip Irrigation This is one of those suggestions that sound like it’s going to cost a fortune and require a professional to install - and it can. But it doesn’t have to. They’ve reduced drip irrigation to a tinker toy level. Believe me, if I can grasp it, so can you. There is an initial cost, although no where near what you might fear, and you will need to do some measuring. But unless you rely solely on rain to water your gardens, you will actually save money in the long run. Drip irrigation is far more efficient than any other type of watering. Plus, it puts all the water right where your plants need it. Add an inexpensive timer and think of all the time you’ve saved yourself. Mulch Again, this is common sense and something you’ve been told a thousand times. Yet many gardeners only view mulch as decoration. Mulch does make a garden look more attractive, but it also keeps the soil and plant roots cool, retains moisture so you can water less often, prevents weed seeds from seeing the light of day and sprouting and feeds the soil. Right there you’ve cut down on watering, weeding and fertilizing time.
Time Released Fertilizer and Water Polymers Container gardens are the exception to the Feed the Soil rule above. It’s not practical to use compost or garden soil in containers and so some supplemental feeding is necessary to keep the plants going. Containers also dry out more quickly than garden bed soil, especially if the bed is mulched. So, start your container gardening season by adding some slow-release fertilizer pellets and some polymer crystals that grab hold and slowly release water to the plant roots. Add both at planting time. Both products are widely available at garden centers.
Now Open in Celina!
Ergonomic Tools A lot of gardening is repetitive motion and can be very stressful on the joints, especially the wrists and back. Thankfully garden tool companies have been coming out with more and better tools that work with the body, taking some of the bending and squeezing out of garden work. Look around for ratchet pruners, bent rakes, cushioned handles and trowels that don’t require you to bend your wrist. Wheels Watch a child with a new wagon. They can’t find enough things to put in it or enough places to go. Now think about how long you’ve put off moving that cement bird bath or how many plants are still sitting in pots on your driveway because you didn’t want to make one more trip. This is why man invented the wheel. Get yourself at least one good garden cart or wheelbarrow and don’t go out into the garden without it. You can tote your tools, move plants, harvest, toss weeds right into it and glide down to the compost heap. No matter how small your plot is, you’ll get more done with wheels. If you have a very large plot, consider wheels with a motor.

Education to Kids Show your children and grandkids early in life how much fun and how exciting gardening is. They may never enjoy deadheading the petunias, I know I don’t, but planting, harvesting, learning what’s a weed, collecting insects - these are all activities that will get them out into the garden. All right, maybe it won’t lessen the workload, but good companionship can make it seem so.

Don’t Let Winter Wage War on Your Skin When temperatures cool and you start layering on more clothes, you may think your skin is better protected since it’s less exposed to the elements. However, that’s not always the case. Cold, dry winter air can take quite a toll on your skin. Your skin naturally produces oils that help keep skin supple and soft, but you may need a helping hand if you notice signs of dry skin like redness, itching or irritation. Serious symptoms include flakes and cracks, which can be painful and lead to infection, so it’s important to address any problems before they progress that far with simple tips like these. Drink plenty of fluids. Even when it’s cooler outdoors and you may be sweating less, you can still get dehydrated. Drinking plenty of water helps keep your whole body hydrated so your skin isn’t pulling from limited resources. Treat problem spots. Hands, elbows and especially feet are common danger zones when it comes to dry skin. To eliminate layers of dry skin on feet, try an option like the Amope Pedi Perfect Electronic Foot File, which smooths hard skin effortlessly using micro-abrasive particles made with finely ground diamond crystals. Be smart about the sun. The sun’s rays may not feel as hot on your skin, but that doesn’t mean they’re not causing damage. Always use sunscreen when you’ll be outdoors for extended periods of time. Also remember snow acts like water and can reflect the sun’s rays back on your skin, which may cause burns. Dress with care. When selecting your wardrobe, be conscious of how long your skin will be exposed and do your best to cover it, especially if it’s cold or windy. Pay attention to the fabric, as certain types of material can be more drying and irritating. Cotton, silk and cashmere are skinfriendly fabric options. Find more tips for winter skin care at amope.com. 18 | Celina LifeAndLuxuryMagazine.com
Prevent Cracked Heels When It Gets Cold Cracked skin occurs when the skin becomes so rough and flaky that small tears begin to form due to lack of sufficient moisture and elasticity. These tears can grow bigger under stress from movement and may become fissures that extend deeper into the skin. The first step toward tackling cracked and dry heels is to eliminate the source. Seasonal changes: Dry skin on feet and heels is closely associated with the winter months. This is because the cold, dry weather draws moisture out of skin all over your body, including your feet. Baths: Long, hot baths can wash away the natural oils of your skin. These oils are essential for locking in moisture and preventing your skin from drying out and cracking. Opt for showers rather than baths or limit baths to just a few minutes. Also avoid rubbing your feet dry afterward, as this can further remove natural oils. Instead, pat your feet dry then apply a moisturizer. Harsh soaps: Just like hot water, certain soaps can strip essential oils from your skin. Avoid the temptation to wash your feet vigorously or use harsh soaps, even if you’re combatting foot odor. Use a gentle touch and products that preserve your skin’s natural protection. Treating Cracked and Dry Heels If you suffer from cracked heels, you can boost your body’s natural renewal and repair process. Gently buff away dead, hard skin to reveal the healthy, soft skin underneath. Then, for long-lasting hydration, follow up with an option like a coconut oil-enriched Amope PediMask, which will leave your feet soft, smooth and nourished in just 20 minutes.

WHAT TO WEAR FOR THANKSGIVING: A STYLISH WOMEN’S GUIDE FOR DRESSING ON TURKEY DAY
T
hanksgiving is right around the corner and we’re already dreaming of turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie and, of course, the perfect outfit. When it comes to what to wear for Thanksgiving, there’s a lot for women to consider. Your outfit has to be roomy enough for that second slice of dessert, yet chic enough to post pics to the ‘gram. With a little help from us, you’ll find it easy to dress for any gathering this holiday season. From casual to dressy, this year’s top Thanksgiving outfits will get you through Turkey Day looking like your most stylish (and comfortable) self. WHAT TO WEAR FOR THANKSGIVING DINNER Thanksgiving is a chance to reflect, relax and spend time with friends and family, both near and far. An added bonus? You get to eat a cornucopia of tasty food all weekend long. And maybe even score major Black Friday deals, too. A win-win, if you ask us. With everyone’s favorite November holiday fast approaching, you no doubt have a lot on your proverbial plate. As you put the finishing touches on the menu, don’t forget to plan what to wear for Thanksgiving dinner. Let your outfit choice be one less thing you have to worry about. Traditionally, Thanksgiving dinner was a formal affair, no matter how or where it was spent. Were jeans of any kind banned from your family gatherings growing up? You’re not alone. Luckily, this strict dress code mentality has eased over the last decade, and even more so in the past year. Now, the name of the game for what to wear for Thanksgiving is comfort. Not to worry, this can be incorporated into any dinner setting, from formal affairs to sweatpant-friendly gettogethers. Always look for stylish items that have plenty of stretch, from dresses to leggings and sweaters. And yes, even jeans. Seasonal colors will keep your outfit festive, while jewelry acts as the finishing touch to tie together everything. WHAT TO WEAR TO A FORMAL THANKSGIVING DINNER If you’ve got a formal turkey affair on the schedule, don’t hold back when planning what to wear for Thanksgiving. Put together something amazing and dress to the nines. Yes, it is possible for women to look formal while feeling comfortable, too. An on-trend midi dress will have you looking sleek and sophisticated. Double check the fabric content for spandex for even more ease of wear. If the weather forecast is on the chilly side, reach for a pair of opaque tights to add extra warmth. Stockings with metallic detail will add a touch of sparkle to your elevated look. Who says you can’t glimmer and gobble until you wobble? While dresses are the obvious choice for what to wear to a formal Thanksgiving dinner, they’re not your only option. To shake things up, don’t be afraid to try a fashion-forward jumpsuit in lieu of a fancy frock. A plethora of shoes pair well with jumpsuits, so look no further than what you have already in your closet. Finish your dignified Thanksgiving outfit with a pair of t-strap heels and chunky gold jewelry for an impressive holiday look. Remember, it’s always better to be overdressed than underdressed for stately soirées. WHAT TO WEAR TO YOUR BOYFRIEND’S THANKSGIVING DINNER Holidays spent with your significant other’s family can pose, perhaps, the biggest dilemma when wondering what to wear for Thanksgiving. From meeting your partners’ family for the first time to celebrating with your in-laws, you want to make a good impression. As a general rule of thumb, it’s important to wear something that isn’t too distracting. Classic black pants are a timeless option for what to wear to your boyfriend’s Thanksgiving dinner, no matter the formality. This year, opt for the wide-leg pant trend to strike a balance between appropriate and trendy. Tuck in a jewel-tone blouse or turtleneck sweater and add festive flair with animal print flats.

Stylist Tip: Spending the long weekend at your other half’s family home? Score extra etiquette points by bringing a hostess gift like flowers, a sweet treat, or a seasonal candle. You can’t go wrong with pumpkin spice and everything nice. WHAT TO WEAR TO A FAMILY THANKSGIVING DINNER Thanksgiving dinner traditions can look different for every family. Whether you’re hosting at home or headed to see out-of-town relatives, you’ll want to feel your best. Thinking about what to wear to a family Thanksgiving dinner that’ll score you a seat at the adult’s table? A flowy, floral print dress is a foolproof Thanksgiving outfit that’s sure to impress. An option with a tiered skirt will add extra flounce, giving you comfort and style all at once. A real MVP of the holiday, if you ask us. Flat over-the-knee boots and a stack of beaded bracelets will complete your casual, yet classy look. WHAT TO WEAR FOR FRIENDSGIVING As the old saying goes, friends are the family you choose. A Friendsgiving get-together is a marvelous way to celebrate this chosen family. Typically a bit more casual, these gatherings are the time to rock your best relaxed looks. At the top of our list for what to wear for Thanksgiving with friends is a pair of refined joggers. Not only are they one of our favorite Fall 2021 trends for women, but the elastic waistband is second-helping friendly. Keep your joggers fashion-forward by pairing them with a plaid menswear blazer or an of-the-moment fall shacket. Either one will come in handy for dining al fresco this year. STAY COMFY IN TRIED-AND-TRUE LEGGINGS Leggings are another casual Thanksgiving outfit go-to. You didn’t think we’d forget this dinner-friendly staple as an option for what to wear for Friendsgiving, did you? Pair them with your coziest sweater or cardigan and add on an eye-catching accessory like beaded chandelier earrings. Keep your footwear choice comfortable with fashion sneakers or ballet flats—they’re wellsuited for that post-meal walk around the neighborhood. WHAT COLORS TO WEAR ON THANKSGIVING We’ve narrowed down the top choices for styles. Now it’s time to talk about what colors to wear on Thanksgiving. Take cues straight from the dinner table. Pumpkin is the obvious choice, so reach for a burnt orange pullover or blouse to perfectly coordinate with the season. Mustard yellow, chocolate brown, cranberry and deep olive are all autumnal favorites that will have you standing out in style. Are neutrals more your speed? Navy is a fall-ready base color when planning what to wear for Thanksgiving. Plus, it’ll help to hide any spills throughout the night. Accent with fall-ready metallics like gold and copper to really dazzle this Thanksgiving.

MAKE SAFETY A PRIORITY FOR HOLIDAY TRAVEL As more and more Americans hit the road and return to traveling for the holidays, concerns around road safety are top of mind. Nearly half of Americans (47%) plan to travel in the next six months, including 51% with plans to travel for Christmas, according to a survey by 3M. A majority (76%) plan to travel by car, but more than a third of travelers are as concerned about road safety as they are about contracting COVID-19. “Especially after spending an extended period closer to home, many people are likely to have some trepidation about getting back out on the road,” said automotive expert Lauren Fix, “The Car Coach” and 3M spokesperson. “Being conscious of issues like visibility and distracted driving are important ways to protect yourself and your passengers.” Consider these tips to enhance the safety of your holiday travel. Before You Go Check your tire pressure and the condition of your tread. Properly inflated and adequate tires can keep you safe on the road, especially in slick conditions. Visibility is important so you can see the road and other drivers. Make sure you have properly functioning wiper blades and carry extra washer fluid. Check your headlights to ensure they both work, and your lenses aren’t hazy. Use your GPS to help you plan the best time to leave for your road trip, avoiding the major rush hours. Make sure your car has an emergency kit and replenish any items you have used in the past. Include a first aid kit, blanket, drinking water, flashlight, reflective triangles and a reflective vest to keep you visible to other vehicles if you are working on your car on the side of the road or need to walk to get help. While On the Road Keep your focus on the road and stay off your phone. Also be aware of the other vehicles and drivers around you. Use GPS to re-route around construction or congestion. If you do come across construction, be sure to keep a close eye on the roadway signage and markings as they can help you navigate the complex roadways safely. If you find yourself driving in bad weather and visibility is an issue, pay attention to road markings to keep yourself oriented to the roadway. If you have no visibility, pull over. Recognize Road Safety Markings Reflective signage and high-visibility pavement markings, along with innovative systems and services, help make roadways and other vehicles more visible to drivers. You can count on safer travel this holiday season with road safety solutions such as: Traffic signs: Studies have found that where highly visible signs are installed, crash numbers have fallen up to 46% within 3-6 years. Reflective sign sheeting, ink and overlays increase visibility and driver recognition of these signals. In foggy and wintery weather, fluorescent yellow street signs have also been found to be more easily visible. Pavement markings: Pavement markings help guide drivers and keep roads safe. In dark and wet conditions, standard reflective pavement markings can disappear. Reflective technology like the options from 3M make road markings visible from longer distances and in wet conditions. Traffic delineators: Navigating complex or changing roadways can be confusing and dangerous for drivers. Specialized delineation systems are used for construction projects, median barriers and guardrails, putting roadway information directly in sight of drivers and making it easier to navigate roadway complexities. License plates: License plates need to remain visible on any roadway and in all conditions, ensuring law enforcement can quickly and effectively identify vehicles. By providing vehicle registration solutions and advanced license plate manufacturing equipment, 3M partners with motor vehicle agencies and manufacturers around the world. Vehicle markings: Government regulations call for conspicuity tape on certain types of large vehicles and trailers in the United States to increase visibility and help prevent traffic collisions, injuries, and deaths.
