The Town

T wn Matters

By Mayor Ray Smith

Spring is an extra special treat for those of us who call Texas home. We don’t get much of a winter, autumn is pretty much non-existent, and well, we all know about summer. But spring in Texas is truly special. Not only are the temperatures mild and inviting, but the scenery, almost everywhere you turn, is beautiful, almost breathtaking. Red bud trees begin the seasonal transformation by dressing their branches in any number of delicate shades of violet, purple, red and orange. Trees of all kinds begin to awaken from their long and tedious slumber, bursting with a green that starts light and deepens to a rich and lustrous shade as spring progresses. People emerge from their homes and take advantage of the weather, walking dogs that seem to eagerly welcome the fresh air. Competitive runners are virtually everywhere, putting in miles in preparation for their peak season, while recreational joggers fill the parks and trails, gingerly shaking off the winter rust.

Kids on Spring Break know this better than the rest of us, it seems. During that all-too-brief break from school, kids will be out and about, riding bikes, playing games, grabbing some sun, and out walking. My own little guys will be out as well. Maybe they’ll fish a little, take hikes along the trails, sit in the back yard or join friends for a friendly game of basketball. Prosper’s natural areas seem to be even more precious as we see more and more construction come to Town. I encourage you to get out to our parks, trails, Town lake and other still undeveloped areas and enjoy the fresh breezes of spring.

The occasional stray shower brings life-giving sustenance to new growth, moistening the area’s brown lawns which will soon rise from their sleep. Soft breezes maintain their strength long enough to get kites high in the blue sky and keep them there, watching over all of us as we stretch our still-tender muscles.

March is the final month of our IT’S TIME TEXAS Community Challenge campaign, and I continue to ask for your help in making Prosper the healthiest small community in Texas. If you haven’t registered on the Challenge site, please do so. Go to www.ittcommunitychallenge.com and register, then add healthy selfies, track your weight loss, and add your workout totals. If we win, we not only get another trophy and bragging rights, but one of our schools get $1,800 to use for health-related programming. PISD Superintendent Drew Watkins and I have been cooperating in bringing attention to the contest, and we hope to prevail. We can only win, though, if the entire community pitches in.

It’s really the only time all year when the temperatures call to us with an invitation that is too good to refuse, too brief to ignore.

Enjoy your spring, and help us win the Challenge. Those are two very worthy goals!

Eagles Nest Hiring talented and highly qualified educators is essential in ensuring success for all students in Prosper ISD. Our Human Resources Department strives to recruit and hire the best teachers and staff, and once we hire them, we work to support and retain these outstanding educators. District and campus administrators attend various teacher recruitment fairs at area and state universities that have recognized teaching programs, and they seek out the brightest teacher graduates. Prosper also enjoys a wonderful partnership with universities such as Texas A&M and Texas Woman’s University, welcoming their students into our campuses for their observations and student teaching. The University of North Texas’s Teach North Texas program, one which produces top math and science teachers, is another fantastic program that Prosper is privileged to participate in. Some of our best new teachers have come from these partnerships!

Mrs. Bernadette Gerace Director of Human Resources PISD

As a Dallas Morning News Top Place to Work for the past three years, Prosper ISD has been fortunate to receive many qualified applicants for our teaching positions. How, then, can our principals cull through the hundreds of applicants to find the perfect teacher for that 1st grade class, AP Physics, or 8th grade choir? While most districts require applicants to list their qualifications and experience, we owe it to our students and community to dig deeper. Within our district’s application system, all candidates must complete a thorough and research-based assessment that allows principals to see how an applicant scores in their teaching skills, educational attitude, and cognitive abilities in comparison with all other applicants within the application system. After completing the assessment, candidates are then invited to complete a digital interview. These interviews allow principals to virtually meet every single applicant and hear the applicant’s educational philosophy and beliefs about student engagement and diversity. Principals then determine who will come in for an inperson interview after reviewing all candidates’ experience, qualifications, assessment scores, and digital interviews, giving them the information needed to make the best hiring decisions for our students. One Saturday during the spring semester, Prosper ISD holds our annual Interview Day. During this all-day event at Prosper High School, principals and their administrative teams interview 100 of our top applicants for open positions for the upcoming school year. Applicants have driven and flown in for this particular event. This has proven to be an effective way for our principals to meet a large number of applicants at once, and we have hired about 35 percent of those who have attended. Once teachers are hired, our Prosper ISD Human Resources team is among the best in the state in welcoming our new teachers and staff into the district. Even though our staff numbers have grown from 400 in 2009 to over 1,200 in 2017, their commitment to customer service, approachability, and warmth have been continually praised by our employees year after year. One teacher shared, “I have felt from the very beginning of my conversations and into the hiring process, through orientation and faculty training, that I was considered to be a valuable acquisition and an integral piece in a program that is focused on excellence”. Following the example of our superintendent, Dr. Drew Watkins, it is a goal every day in Human Resources to serve our teachers and staff with a servant’s heart. It is with that servant’s heart that we continue to seek ways to improve our service to all of our stakeholders.

Prosper firefighters are different from anyone you’ll meet. They are dedicated to the job and ded-icated to one another. For them, the job is not a job, it’s a passion and it shows anytime you step into either of the fire stations in Prosper. While Station No. 2 on the west side of Prosper shines with newness and state-of-the-art equipment, the Central Station shines from meticulous care over many years, and still looks new. Prosper firefighters are now split between two stations, but under the leadership of Fire Chief Ronnie Tucker, the two groups are still incredibly bonded across the few miles that separate the two. Tucker along with Firefighter Marty Nevil conducted a tour of the new facility for The Prosper Magazine. Fire Station No. 2 has filled a dire need for Prosper which stretches nine miles along U.S. Highway 380 and three miles south. When all calls were filled from the Central Station on First Street east of Preston Trail, response time was compromised because of the distance. Throw into the mix a railroad track that cuts through the town and response time that should be just a few minutes stretches to 10 and sometimes more. If a train is on the tracks, responders just had to wait. To a group who practices shaving portions of seconds from the time it takes to get the trucks on the road after receiving a call, that situation is hard to swallow. “The goal is to have bunker gear on and be on the truck within 60 seconds of getting an alarm,” Nevil said. But if uncontrollable obstacles prevent the trucks from getting to a call, all the practice in the world won’t make enough of a difference. Now, with Station No. 2 finished and manned, the Insurance Services Office (ISO) will be enacting a reduction in homeowner premiums for some residents beginning June 1. Under the ISO program, called the Fire Suppression Rating Schedule, communities can score between one and 10 with one being the best. Prosper’s rate has been changed from a 5 to a 2. To read more about this rating and its enactment, on the towns website. Working to reduce time in getting out the station doors, truck doors remain open and bunker gear is stationed in various positions around and on the truck to make suiting up in the blink of an eye possible. One of the main focal points of the new fire station is probably the fireplace mantel. It’s a warm setting with several recliners and furniture reminiscent of any home. It brings to life the term “fire-side chat” and Tucker says he’s already had a couple of those chats with his staff. But the man-tel is

16

WeAreProsper.com | March 2017

special to all the firefighters in both stations. The wood itself came from Tucker’s land in Sadler. It was then tooled and sanded by every firefighter before being mounted. “It’s a sentimental piece we are all proud to have on display,” Nevil said. The dining area has a 12-foot table donated by Chandler Cabinets. In the center of the table is a decal with the station’s logo which shows the nickname for Station No. 2. The firefighters call it “The Coop.” Following that theme, one can see a chicken in the window of the station’s fire truck. “Our guys are pretty proud of that,” Tucker said. Central Fire Station is called “The Dawghouse.” Currently, a shift at Station No. 2 is occupied by six firefighters but there is room for six more be-cause the station was built for the future. Tucker says it will be a long time before they need to increase that much. “It’s a big station right now, but there will be more down the line,” he said. “We will need it in the future.” Some of the improvements in equipment are things like the bay doors which separate in the center and open to the side rather than huge overhead doors. “It’s a lot lower maintenance,” Tucker said, “[They are] More reliable, faster to open and safer.”

CHIEF TUCKER “It’s not a job, it’s truly a passion and a career,” Tucker said. “A long time ago I would get up early because I couldn’t wait to get to work and then I would work all day and all night and at the end of the next day I didn’t want to go home. I wanted to stay and work more. It’s not that I didn’t want to go home to my wife, but the job is such a passion and such fun that you don’t want to go home.” Nevil agrees it truly is a passion. “Chief Tucker has done so much and been so committed, as you can see from his legacy, he’s done a great job. But there have been sacrifices along the way with family,” she said. “It’s tough

We look forward to serving you with a mortgage strategy to make your dream of home ownership come true!

on a family. At the same time you have a huge family of men who look up to you and idolize you,” she said to the chief. “I’ve been very fortunate,” Tucker said. “I got to hold every position from dispatcher on up. So a lot of things the guys might try to pull on me, I’ve already been there done that. I’ve been involved in a multitude of things like that so it’s not going to work on me.” Tucker says it’s been a privilege to be able to mentor so many young men. For a long time in his career, Tucker had a part time job and that was teaching at Collin County Fire Academy. “I enjoyed it because I was around young and energetic guys,” he said. “They remind me of a whole room of puppy dogs wagging their tails just wanting something to happen and it energized me. It kept me going many years. I miss being around eager young people who want to learn and be a part of this profession.” Tucker talks now about retiring this year. It’s a possibility that he may be back in the classroom after stepping away from Prosper Fire. But, there are a lot of things he and wife Janie are considering. When asked about his timeline, Tucker is not sure. He doesn’t want to leave things undone and there are a couple of projects he wants to complete. “It will be this year,” he said. “The sooner the happier.“

SCHOLARSHIP The Prosper Ladies Association is very involved in scholarships for the community. “One of the things we do is the firefighters banquet,” Amy Jukes said on behalf of the PLA. “We knew that Ronnie [Tucker] was planning to retire this year and we wanted to honor his service to Prosper. Instead of an award, we thought of starting a scholarship in his name.” So the Ronnie Tucker Future Firefighter Scholarship was born and is available to one Prosper High School graduating senior in the amount of $2,100. Applications will be available from the high school councilors office. The application should be printed and mailed as directed and questions may be addressed to vicepresident@prosperladies.com. To be considered for the scholarship, applications must be post-marked by the first Saturday in March and mailed to RTFF Scholarship Committee, c/o Prosper Ladies Association, P.O. Box 40, Prosper, TX 75078.

Amy Jukes - A Serving Heart By Leslie Scott

Typically, when we think of the definition of servant, we create a list of ways in which others do work for us. Upon deeper consideration, we may also create a list of ways in which we in fact work for the good of others. Amy Jukes embodies that type of servant in that she consistently, consciously, and faithfully serves for the good of others. Amy possesses a list of serving that goes on and on, whether it’s through her church, organizations, friends, or family, and she has become a source of support and connection to many. If you know Amy, then you are already aware of the many ways in which she’s involved in helping others. A self-labeled “facilitator of making good happen,” her motivation is completely selfless, her resources are diverse and her positive attitude knows no limit. If you don’t know Amy, then let’s be clear immediately that she also does all this with the humblest of attitudes. There’s no doubt about it, Amy loves Prosper. She cares deeply about its residents, both new and established, and she wants Prosper to be a community with compassion for others. Amy is instrumental in Just Serve, in which she is the area coordinator for several communities from Pilot Point to Prosper and is first to deflect praise by saying, “There’s a lot of great people under the umbrella, so I’m not the one doing all the work.” Many adults and students are able to assist others through the database by volunteering. Organizations such as government, non-profits, and churches all are able to use the resources to find volunteers to assist with the man hours multiple projects and events need. She calls the Prosper Ladies Association “an opportunity to grow and

20

WeAreProsper.com | March 2017

serve our community.” Amy is able to name a variety of ways the PLA assists in vastly different means such as the Prosper Police Officer Banquet, the Prosper Fireman Banquet, various fundraisers, and coming to the aid during emergencies for families. Friend Betsy Winters says of Amy, “We need an army of Amy’s. On more than one occasion, we’ve been discussing a need; victims of a tornado, a struggling family, or some charitable event, and before I can wrap my head around the steps that need to be taken to help accomplish the need, she’s out doing whatever it is that needs to be done. She’s hard to keep up with.” Amy is also involved in her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. True to her nature, she is quick to acknowledge that many people don’t know about the Mormon faith and are confused by a lot of misinformation. She says, “That’s okay because we will just love them, and show them, and they will see.” Amy’s philosophy and attitude is truly the core of who she is. “If you continue serving others, they can’t keep disliking you,” she says. “And as we continue to work harder, it strengthens our faith in serving. Having this attitude is so freeing.” It’s this freedom that allows her to be at peace, allows everyday tasks to become easier, and allows her to not hold onto negativity and worry. Ask Amy about her children and you will very quickly realize how important they are to her and how encouraging she is of them and their passions. Then ask Amy what the significance of their names are, and that is also when you will discover how genuinely important family and friends are to her. All six of Amy’s children were given special first and middle names in honor of someone from her or her husband David’s lives. She frequently uses the children’s middle names with their first because of the important connections they have. The names, sometimes with a play on phonetics, are a reminder of how those people continue to be in their

lives. Jorie, Lindsey, Xavier, Eleanor, Lillian and Harry each have a journal created by Amy telling the story of their names, as well as the story of her life at the time. Although their daughter Lindsey passed away in 2001, Amy honors her by including her in her number of children. Amy’s oldest daughter Jorie took to Facebook singing Amy’s praises when nominated for Person of the Year saying, “she is the most amazing, loving, kind and selfless woman I know and she is always teaching me lessons on charity and giving (especially when you feel like you have nothing to give.)” Amy’s simple hope for her children is to be better, be stronger, achieve more, be more faithful and to be more than she is. She and husband Dave provided them with such a strong foundation and such a wonderful example, it’s hard to believe they will not achieve what she wishes for them. When pressed to remember her first time of serving others, Amy recalled a very distinct memory with her mother. When she was around eight years old she had a purple dress. She loved that dress, but her mother suggested giving it to a family in need. She told Amy she was beginning to outgrow the dress, she had another dress, and that little girl’s family needed help. Amy saw the other girl wearing her purple dress one day and she was spinning around and around in that dress and the joy of giving was what she felt when she saw that. Amy’s mother was the first to show her how helping others connects us. Amy’s giving nature has grown through time and as her family grew, so did the numbers going to volunteer. When her children were born she would take them with her when she served, and now they don’t just tag along, they volunteer too. Amy’s list of organizations and offerings of helping others also includes organizing assistance for the Oklahoma tornado, genealogy education, Cornerstone, emergency preparedness, Bethlehem Place, and she is often a connection for helping when help is needed. Jenn Stice, a friend of Amy’s, said about her, “Amy is a doer. It’s not enough for her to sit idly by when there’s a need. She takes action and has a gift of inspiring others to do the same. She has a deep love and concern for her neighbors and fellowmen — which is evident in how she serves our community. Prosper is better because of Amy.” Prosper is fortunate to have Amy Jukes as a resident, as a compassionate volunteer, as an involved loving parent, and as a humble servant. If you don’t already know her, make it a point to find her. If Amy’s in your life, it means you are connected to making good things happen with her.

COLORECTAL CANCER

AWARENESS MONTH When was the last time you had a colonoscopy?

DID YOU

KNOW

?

Colorectal cancer is the third most common type of cancer in both men and women. Often those diagnosed have no signs or symptoms. However, early detection is key! Anyone can get screened!

FACTS: • All patients should begin screening at age 50. • Those with a family history of colorectal cancer or polyps should be screened at an earlier age. • We are now seeing an increase in colorectal cancer in younger adults. • The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that if the entire population was screened at age 50, the number of colorectal related cancers could be cut by 60%. • Screenings can prevent colorectal cancer because polyps, which can progress to colorectal cancer, can be removed during colonoscopy.

BOOTS & BLING 2017

WeAreProsper.com | March 2017

The Prosper Ladies Association raised the bar for the Boots and Bling annual event Feb. 4 at Rock Creek Ranch in McKinney gathering funds for charitable projects in the Prosper area. More than $120,000 was raised through sponsorships, admissions, and live and silent auctions. The crowd showed delight when dinner with Stuart Blasingame, Prosper’s assistant fire chief, was auctioned off. Another popular item was time with Assistant Police Chief Gary McHone to shop for Christmas gifts. Other items auctioned were vacation trips, medical treatments, jewelry and unique handmade items. One of the most sought after pieces was a huge American flag made by the Prosper firefighters from fire hoses that failed inspections. Boots and Bling is the largest fund raiser each year for the PLA. The money will go to help fund The Summer Light Lunch program that feeds school children who will likely miss meals because they are not at school. It will also help fund the Angel Tree at Christmas time, college scholarships, emergency help for families, Christmas shopping with Prosper Police officers and more. For more information about the PLA and its programs, visit the website at www. prosperladies.com and the Facebook page for Prosper Ladies Association.

Most of you have probably seen Chris Fritchie’s work. Not only has it appeared on the cover of PROSPER Magazine, but more than 125 of his stunning images have also graced other North Texas magazines. The work that’s seen today is the result of about 25 years of practice. Fritchie took up photography as a hobby at first. A decade later, he was shooting live performances and really studying the art of photography. By 2005, Fritchie began working as the photographer for a lifestyle magazine. As traditional photography transitioned to digital, Fritchie noticed a subtle change in the way people handled their photographs. The walls in homes, where family photographs once lined hallways and living rooms, were bare. Most photographers shot and processed the photographs, then gave them to their client on a computer disk with a print release to take home. More often than not, those photos are excitedly shared on social media one day before ending up in a drawer and never printed.

28

WeAreProsper.com | March 2017

Fritchie, married with three daughters, found this to be a disturbing trend. “You would walk into a home and feel a disconnect because there is no evidence of family,” Fritchie said. He points to the absence of family photographs in a home as a hindrance to the unity of a family. “I want to create large images families will display to serve as a sort of subliminal message and help connect our families once again,” Fritchie said. He creates what he calls “moments in time” from both his brick and mortar studio in Adriatica as well as on-location. A large number of these impressive images are on display in the studio.

One of his biggest inspirations is the work of Norman Rockwell. Fritchie says Rockwell created imagery, with his adventurous spirit, that made everyone stop and take notice, and reflect. “The biggest compliment I could receive,” Fritchie stated, “is for someone to say my work has a Rockwell vibe.” Like Rockwell, the visual drama and artistry of Fritchie’s portraiture, montage and composites, capture unique images that will stand the test of time. “In most peoples’ lives, especially women, there are two distinct times the focus will be solely on you; your senior photographs and your wedding,” said Fritchie who calls himself a boutique-esque photographer. He believes in quality over quantity and limits the number of photo sessions booked. Each session includes a consultation, either in the studio or in the home, the photos, a proofing session and also a visual of how the prints will look on the wall in the home. He is currently booking the remaining 2017 Senior photos as well as his fall calendar for 2018 Seniors. Fritchie says the best time to schedule senior photos is in the summer before the senior year because at that time unique locations are more accessible. The senior photos are put on hold for the months of November and December as Fritchie transforms his studio into a winter wonderland for “The Magic of Santa.” In a two-month period, Fritchie books approximately 125 individual 30-minute sessions where kids and families get to play games, tell stories and have hot cocoa with Santa. “It’s the number-one reason I have a studio,” he said. Fritchie explained that the images captured during Santa sessions are unlike anything you would get in a traditional Christmas photo. Being a photographer in 2017 means you must be a bit of a graphic designer as well as stay up-todate on current trends. Fritchie said he attends a number of workshops every year to give him the tools to continue to set himself apart from others. Using graphic design savvy, Fritchie also offers eight “Epic Christmas Card” sessions each year. Captured on green screen, Fritchie stretches his creativity and has fun with the clients and the end result is...epic. “I don’t want to do the same things everyone else is doing. I am open to trying new things – crazy ideas are always welcome,” laughed Fritchie. If you would like to schedule a consultation or book a session with Fritchie, the best way to contact him is to visit his website, www. chrisfritchiestudios.com or find him on Facebook. Because he does book quickly, you will want to reserve your spot soon.

Prosper Town Manager speaks to the crowd gathered to celebrate the ground breaking for Prosper’s new town hall and multi-purpose building on Broadway Street next to the current town hall.

This sign is posted at the construction site and depicts the artist’s rendering of the building’s as it will appear when completed. By Joyce Godwin

It’s been a long time coming. Plans were made and changed and changed again over the course of several years. Finally, the official ground breaking came this month when gold shovels were brought out and used to turn dirt. First it was the Town Council members along with the town manager. Then others who worked on the project took a turn for photos. Finally, all the town employees took their turn in front of the sign that shows what the new facility will look like when completed. They are arguably the most excited group to be getting a new building because the town employees have been making do with crowded conditions for several years already. There was an unmistakable air of excitement to see the project underway.

Prosper Mayor Ray Smith recognizes members of the town council for their hard work in getting to the point to be able to begin construction on the multi-purpose building which will relieve much of the over-crowding for town employees.

Town Manager Harlan Jefferson kicked off the celebration speaking to the large crowd that braved a bitter cold morning to help give the new multipurpose center a great start. “Just two days ago many of us were at the ground breaking of Texas Bank and we anticipate the construction of two more office buildings later this year,” Jefferson said. “I want to thank the citizens of Prosper for their support and trust and the staff for their trust over the past few years, and hopefully, we are going to continue to earn that.” Among the crowd were several dignitaries who came to help Prosper celebrate a new milestone. Recognized by Mayor Ray Smith were Megan Taltan, representing Congressman Sam Johnson’s office, Collin County Judge Keith Self, County Commissioner Susan Fletcher, Megan Pulley, district director for Representative Scott Sanford’s office and Robert Paulsen, chief of staff for Representative Justin Holland. Smith then introduced each member of the town council calling them his teammates. “ It’s been a great team effort,” Smith said. “I feel like we've played a season and this is our super bowl at the end. We have beat each other up and made a bunch of change orders, and we are finally at the end. It has been a good run.”

32

WeAreProsper.com | March 2017

Smith also thanked the Prosper Independent School District for donating a piece of land that was in the middle of the property used for the new multi-purpose building. Complimenting the PISD he said he appreciates the partnership the town has with the ISD. “Randall Scott of Randall Scott Architects is the architectural firm that designed the new town hall,” Smith said as he passed the microphone to

Scott. “Thank you to the city council, mayor and citizens for your trust in allowing us to design this legacy project,” Scott said. “This council had vision and knew how to use fiscal restraint, and that is difficult when you are designing a project of this magnitude. It’s a legacy project and will be here for 75 to 100 years.” Scott explained that the council was looking for something that relates contextually to the other civic buildings in town such as the parks buildings. “So the tag line became respecting the past and reaching toward the future,” he said. Scott described the building as a classic Type A building. “It’s a Georgian Colonial and also has some unique, modern features that are a pat of that,” Scott said. “The formal entrance is on the south side, but on the north side it relates to the downtown area with a very nice series of cascading fountains and walkway that connects to Broadway.” Scott said it’s going to be an amazing project. “We are very proud of it and proud to be a participant on this project. Ben Pogue of Pogue Construction agreed with Scott in every way. “As you look at this design, this is going to be a landmark for Prosper,” Pogue said. “You guys have really set the stage of what it’s (Prosper) going to look like over the next 20 years. We’ve been involved in Prosper for about 15 years now. This is a significant project for our company and we are grateful for the partnership.”

Ben Pogue of Pogue Construction said the building is going to be a landmark for Prosper. He said he is proud that Pogue Construction has been involved in the Prosper community for 15 years

PROSPER CHEER

Prosper High School Cheer sent a team of 30 to the Texas UIL State Cheer Competition in January. The team finished in the Top 20 after Senior Varsity Cheerleader, Faron Clayton, was injured during practice on the day of final competition. Freshman Brenna Gibbons came in to replace the injured Clayton, which PHS Cheer Coach, Julie Brantley said was, “a lot of pressure.” “We all agreed that we will have top moments as a team and low moments as a team,” Brantley stated. While things didn’t turn out as planned or hoped, Brantley said she is incredibly proud of what the team accomplished. “When you have a senior varsity cheerleader go down just hours before the finals, the team had to really work together to make the necessary changes and that is winning,” said Brantley.

Instant Pot® Pot Roast

By Renee Marler

Imagine a universe in which you cook dinners faster and less messy that please the whole family!!! If you were one of the 215,000 people who purchased the Instant Pot® on Amazon’s annual Prime Day, you know that dream is a reality! This little gadget has taken over kitchens in full force. The Instant Pot® Community Public group on Facebook now has almost 400,000 members! So what is this magic machine, you ask? It’s basically a pressure cooker, but it’s certainly not your grandmother’s pressure cooker. The Instant Pot® is a multi-cooker; capable of replacing a standard pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, saute pan, steamer, and yogurt maker. You can even make cheesecake in this darn thing! I was excited to try many recipes, but I was hesitant to try a pot roast. I’m not trying to brag, but my slow cooker pot roast is pretty amazing after 8-10 hours of cooking and I didn’t think I could improve on perfection. I was wrong. I was not only able to improve the taste of the pot roast, but I did it in about 90 minutes! Follow this recipe and taste for yourself. INGREDIENTS: 2-3 lb chuck roast 3 cloves garlic, minced 2 small onions, sliced 1 package Lipton Onion Soup Mix 2 cups water Olive Oil 1 Pkg Baby Carrots 4-6 potatoes, quartered
