Drawing some inspiration from the recordbreaking Springsteen on Broadway, this limited capacity show with cabaret-style seating is a complete one off – Ian, some guitars, top tunes and tall tales.

You don’t need us to tell you about Sheku Kanneh-Mason – the inspirational young British cellist who’s changed the way we think about classical music. Well, he’s back, this time with a haunting, unfairly neglected concerto by one of Shostakovich’s best friends. Meanwhile, Andrew Manze shares the greatest of British symphonies, Elgar’s First. When it was premiered in Manchester in 1908, the audience jumped to its feet and cheered – you’re about to hear why.

Dvořák Wind Serenade Hindemith Kammermusik No.5 Brahms Serenade No.2 Domingo Hindoyan conductor Nicholas Bootiman viola A tortured genius, Brahms was known for his serious and sombre style, but here we see a different side to the composer, as we’re treated to the whimsical and sun-drenched Serenade No.2. And, rumour has it we can thank Brahms for another work in today’s programme. Dvořák’s Wind Serenade – a fun and joyous celebration of the Czech folk tradition – was allegedly inspired by music the composer heard while on his way to visit, you guessed it, Johannes Brahms. Completing today’s programme is something quite different – a dramatic and hard-hitting work by Hindemith.

Julian Clary, renowned comedian, homosexual and national trinket, is saddling up for a new show. “Yes, it has a Western theme,” the old buckaroo confirms, sipping Bourbon from a pint tankard. “It was only a matter of time before I eased myself into some chaps,” he adds. Julian is sure that the men in the audience will be eager to join his posse and the lucky few will play with him on stage in the Hang ‘em Low saloon.
This show will contain strong language and adult humour.

In a parallel universe, little Alfie’s natural comedic skills were recognised by his doting parents who encouraged his blossoming talent. Meanwhile, in this universe, thirty years of shift work in the Sheffield steelworks and then as a copper on the beat, has left Alfie Moore with ‘a face for radio’. A surprising career shift turned middleaged Alfie from street cop to BBC radio star. But when TV fame beckoned could he grasp it or was he past it?
Irvine Welsh returns to WoWFEST for a no-holds-barred celebration of 30 years of Trainspotting. Three decades on, after selling over a million copies in the UK alone and being translated into more than 30 languages, we’re revisiting Welsh’s iconic novel and cast of outcasts – Renton, Spud, Sick Boy and Begbie. Trainspotting transformed fiction and still packs a punch greater than most other novels today. Hosted by Peter Hooton from The Farm, join WoW to talk all things Trainspotting and more, including Irvine’s latest book, The Long Knives, with one of the most influential writers of our time.
Ramble along with comedian and writer Adam Buxton, as he heads out on his first ever live podcast tour! Crowned the winner of the inaugural Podcast Champion gong at the 2017 British Podcast Awards, Buxton has since delivered a medley of deep, kind and hilarious chatter across hundreds of episodes. Expect an evening of guests, surprises and plenty more to fill up the giant podcast bin.

Initially making his debut on the BAFTA-nominated The Peter Serafinowicz Show, Brian Butterfield charmed viewers with his forever flawed business ideas coupled with his eternal optimism. Demand for the return of Brian and his tell-all business seminar has been phenomenal, so he’s heading out to reach the masses with his Call of Now tour.

Hackney, 2233: a woman walks into a tattoo parlour. Her body is covered with tattoos, but she wants one final piece: a line of ink and blood that connects her body art together to form a unique map. If you were to follow it, where would this journey take you? Joelle Taylor’s The Night Alphabet sweeps geographies and timespans. It is dazzlingly original – a bold investigation into violence, resilience and women’s stories. This event is the novel’s world premiere.
