The Student Officers 2013 has been an amazing year for LiverpoolSU so far, with the excitement of the nominations period for the Student Officer elections, the success of recent events and the passion of so many dedicated student sports teams and societies creating an excellent student experience at LJMU! Already into March, there are plenty of student activities that promise to make 2013 spectacular! Voting opens for the Student Officer Elections on 7th March and closes on Friday 15th March. This is your chance to vote for the next leaders of your students’ union. Your vote could make all the difference!

There is still plenty of time left for you to get involved with LiverpoolSU’s many student clubs and societies. There is an impressive roster of already established clubs and societies to join, plus, you can also create your own! Go onto the LiverpoolSU website to find out more about how to get involved! An exciting new future could await you… March is the month to make it happen, so get out, get active and have a great time! LiverpoolSU are not only dedicated to providing an excellent student experience during term time, but also throughout the entire year. The Better Union Forum aims to understand how LiverpoolSU can benefit your plans for summer vacation. Are you travelling at home or abroad? Do you want to gain valuable volunteering experience? The Better Union Forum is your chance to shout out what you want from LiverpoolSU this summer. Plus, students due to graduate (and students who will graduate in future years) can suggest what they would like from their lifetime Union membership. So, come along for some free food and drink, and let’s make LiverpoolSU the perfect community for all students past and present to be a part of!

The Better University Forum is split into four areas – Communication, teaching, facilities and most importantly, your future! This is your chance to voice your opinion on the student experience. Do you think university facilities need improving? Do you think the current methods of teaching need improving? Not only can you express your views, you can also ask Kate Wilkinson, the current Vice President for Academic Quality, what she has worked towards improving academically for students. University is one of the best times of your life, so make a difference and take part. Your university needs you!

Do you have to use public transport to get to University? Are you concerned about the rising cost of transport within the city of Liverpool? LiverpoolSU aim to understand how we can make your life in Liverpool easier and you can make a difference for yourself and future students by voicing any concerns you may have at our forums. We will be welcoming this year’s candidates for Vice President along for a hustings session, where you can find out more about their manifestos and campaigns, as well as electing a brand new Forum chair! Curtis Reid, the Vice President Community Engagement, will be also available for you to talk to, so come along for some free hot food and drink and make your opinion count!

SO Vote! Do you have opinions about university life and need someone to represent them at local and national levels? Do want your university course to be the best it can be, and have all your feedback acted upon? Do you want the best quality student experience? Then LiverpoolSU needs you! You can vote for your next Student Officers. They will represent yourself and the university throughout the year,

and share your opinions at NUS conferences. Your opinion counts so make your vote count too! Voting is open from Thursday 7th March until Friday 15th March, with the winners announced at the end of the final voting day. Your union needs you to decide who will be the next elected student officer team, so, let the voting begin!

The Amazing Teaching Awards’ is our way of saying thank you to those amazing people who have helped you to learn and develop academically throughout the year. Not only can you vote for teachers, you can also vote for technicians, librarians, support staff and course reps who you think deserve recognition for improving your student experience. Nominations are still open, so if you haven’t said thank you to that amazing teacher, you still have plenty of time. Club/society of the month LJMU Christian Union University life is about meeting new people, sharing experiences and taking part in an active and supportive community. LJMU Christian Union are dedicated to providing a welcoming and friendly experience for all students, and anyone is welcome to join! LJMU Christian Union have had a brilliant and bustling year so far, with events in January being a soaring

success! They aim to find the right church for you, and you can meet other like-minded Christians. Plus, you can join the union as they spread the word throughout the year. If you would like to get involved, contact Leah Martin: l.martin@2011.ljmu.ac.uk

LiverpoolSU provides support for students who wish to set up a new sports team or society, monetary grants are also available.

It’s the time of year when the sports clubs of LiverpoolSU compete against the University of Liverpool in the annual Varsity tournament! This year’s tournament sees the inclusion of new sports teams such as Lacrosse and Handball, as well as the already established sports teams training hard

throughout the year. Taking place on Wednesday 20th March, come out and support our fabulous sports teams and let’s win back that coveted Varsity trophy!
