Club/society of the month Hurling

LJMU’s Hurling team have gone from strength to strength this season, seeing them rise to the top of the BUCS league and being crowned ‘BUCS Champions’ in October! The final score was LJMU 1-6 to 0-3 against an amalgamation of Uni of Liverpool and Hope University, with Ronan Quinn scoring 0-5, Antoin McCaffrey scoring 1-0 and Cormac Rush scoring 0-1 for LJMU. This year Hurling has attracted more members than ever, as a team

who have struggled to gather a full squad together in the past. With no previous titles to their name, becoming BUCs Champions has been a huge achievement for the team. LJMU’s Hurling team now boasts 25 members, of which two are English members - making LJMU the only university team in the country to have English Hurling players! If you would like to get involved, or to find out more, contact the club’s Captain, Ryan Bell, at r.bell@2010.ljmu.ac.uk.

For more information on all of our clubs and societies visit www.liverpoolsu.com/clubsandsocs If the club or society you are looking for does not already exist, then why not set up your own? LiverpoolSU provides support for students who wish to set up a new sports team or society, monetary grants are also available.

WINNERS ANNOUNCED 15 MARCH

WHAT ARE SO ELECTIONS?

STANDING IS SIMPLE

Every year students are given the chance to elect their Student Officer team, who head the students’ union and campaign on their behalf to improve the overall student experience. Student Officers work full time throughout the year and are paid a salary. Students who wish to stand can either take a year out from their studies or, if graduating this year, can start after they have completed their degrees.

Every year students nominate themselves to stand to become the next Student Union Officers. Students then vote for their preferred candidate to win. Standing is really simple and you will receive lots of support to build your campaign.

If you are interested in standing to become the next Student Officer please email: queries@so-elections.com
