November 2016 Dear Headteacher As Chairman of Livery Schools Link Ltd, I am sending you this newsletter to update you on the range of events that we are offering to provide opportunities for Livery and schools links. * We no longer have an administrator as the centre of our organisation and all members are volunteers with responsibility for different areas of our activities. * The LSL Careers Showcase will take place on March 20 2017 at the Guildhall. We are expecting around 30 Livery Companies to take stands there and show pupils of Year 9 and upwards from a range of schools the careers available in their area. (Last year over 500 Students attended and around 150 are signed up for next year already) This event has been running successfully for 5 years and already quite a few Livery Companies have booked their places. Please contact David Simmons david.nswimmons@btopenworld.com or Davina Lloyd drdlloyd@gmail.com if you would like to send pupils. * The annual conference for secondary school Headteachers will take place on July 7 2017 at Staple Inn Hall. An invitation for this will follow after Christmas. This provides an opportunity to members of the Livery concerned with education to discuss and exchange views with Heads on how Livery and schools can work together to help pupils. * The art work from the schools project on World War 1 ‘Echoes across the Century’ funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund will be on display in the Guildhall Art Gallery from March 30 2017. It promises to be a visually exciting and thought provoking exhibition. * We have links with volunteers and many London based schools so are able to match school opportunities with volunteers. We are working to develop a volunteer brokerage platform which will enable us to increase the number of volunteer opportunities we can fill. We will send more news on this later. Please be in touch if you would like further information on any of these events. Yours sincerely Lis Goodwin Chairman LSL lisgoodwin@btinternet.com
