L

ooking for a fun party idea to entertain the kids this holiday season? Host a Gingerbread House Decorating Party. It has an activity as the central focus and is sure to keep the hands and minds busy, while spreading holiday spirit. Tips for Hosting a Gingerbread House Decorating Party

7 8 9

Keep the party small and manageable. Good rule of thumb: child’s age = number of guests. Schedule party when kids are fresh and have some patience – avoid nighttime for the younger set.

3 4

Ask guests to wear festive hats and headbands.

Set up a long “decorating” table covered with a plastic tablecloth.

5

Prepare a workspace for each child that includes: apron, gingerbread house, icing and a variety of holiday candies. (Tip: fill small paper cups halfway with holiday candies.)

We love these limited edition Gingerbread M&M’s for decorating gingerbread houses. How fun!

Set up a hand washing station for quick clean-up before and after decorating. Set the mood with fun holiday music.

Take pictures of each child with their masterpiece.

Save small cardboard boxes for easy transport of gingerbread houses home.

Bottled water cardboard “trays” with sides work great too.

10

If the kids are really young, you may opt to decorate large gingerbread boys and girls instead of a whole gingerbread house.

Steps for

Staying Healthy this Season Get your Holiday Glowing ~ Naturally

T

he hectic pace of the holiday season can quickly take a toll. Put a few practices in place to make sure you take care of yourself – allowing your holiday spirit to glow.

1

Stay hydrated. With all the running around morning ‘til night, it’s easy to get dehydrated. Keep a bottle of water with you at all times as a reminder to drink.

2

Pack some protein. Keep a supply of protein-packed snacks in your bag and car so you can eat on the run.

3

Keep your immune system strong. Follow the same rules you tell your kids - “wash your hands” and “don’t touch your face.”

4

Save some strokes. Streamline your morning and nighttime routines by using more efficient ways to get you in and out of the bathroom faster.

PowerUp with an electric toothbrush that gets the job done and leaves your mouth healthy and fresh!

5

Get your beauty sleep. Or at least 6-8 hours of sleep.

6

Protect hair and nails. Carry a spare hat and gloves in your car. When you dash out of the house without them, use the “back-ups” to stay warm while protecting your hair and hands from the elements.

7

Avoid dry skin and lips. Moisturize face, hands and lips. Keep a travel size container of lotion and lip balm in your bag so you can reapply throughout the day. Don’t forget to moisturize your face in the morning.

PowerUp by Philips Sonicare Designed to be as easy to use as your manual, while delivering superior results and a better experience. With more brush strokes in a day than your manual in a month, PowerUp removes more plaque, helps reduce cavities and improve gum health. For more information, please visit Philips Sonicare.

HOLIDAY PARTY

basics jazz up your 8 Easy Ideas for Building a Holiday Coffee Bar

1

4

2

5

Clear the counter or a table and designate area as your “Coffee Bar.” Cue up the Coffee – for a large group, a coffee urn is the way to go. Prepare your urn before the party, so all you have to do is plug it in and wait for it to brew.

3

Display mugs, coffee cups or disposable hot cups next to the coffee so guests can help themselves.

Dress up your bar with fun holiday flavored creamers such as Peppermint Mocha and Pumpkin Spice by Coffeemate®. Stir in your sugar with a twist on the traditional. Candy canes, peppermint sticks and rock candy make fun stirrers. Plus, they add a pop of color to your coffee bar.

6

Pour cocoa and cinnamon into shakers so guests can “dust” their drink with a sprinkle of spice.

7

Serve with a sweet on the side – chocolate, cookies and other bite-sized confections finish off your coffee bar. Guests love to enjoy a small treat with their coffee especially if dessert hasn’t been served yet.

8

When it comes to cleanup, refrigerate any leftover creamer and store the sugar and spices in a container so you’re ready at a moment’s notice to whip up a special holiday coffee for unexpected guests.

Remember Holiday Season Birth “Days” Set Up a Birthday Card File and Send Some Birthday Love

A

little prep before the holidays makes it easy to send a special birthday wish in the mail. Face it – despite good intentions, if you’re born around the holidays, your birthday is apt to get less (or very little) attention. It’s easy to put a practice in place that ensures no one in your circle is forgotten on their special day.

Steps for setting up your own Birthday Card File – a good practice all year long ● Make a list of all birth “days.” ● On a quarterly basis, shop for a special birthday card for each. ● Write a special message in each card, seal, stamp and address it.

✔ Don’t combine a holiday and birthday gift ✔ Don’t combine a holiday celebration with a birthday party ✔ Don’t forget to send a birthday card

● File cards in your calendar or a separate “birthday file” by week. Organize file so you can easily grab cards on a weekly basis and mail one week prior to birthdays. ● Be happy in knowing that during the hectic holiday season, you made one of your people feel “remembered” and celebrated on their special day.
