From Manhattan, go northwest 13.5 miles from the Hwy. 24-113 junction, then 1/2 mile west. From Randolph, Kansas, go 6 miles south on Hwy. 77, then 1/2 mile west.

Opportunity is knocking for those willing to answer the call. Never before has the cattle market been this good and optimism is at an all time high! As we enter this expansion phase of the cow cycle, it is even more critical we study our lesson when it comes to seedstock selection. In many instances, commodity replacement stock is bringing as much as, if not more, than the genetics designed for a purpose. When the present market begins to see pressure from an increased supply, commodity beef will be the first to see discrimination within the marketplace. Experience shows consumers want a quality product and are willing to pay for it. I would argue now is the time to seek out those quality genetics. Don’t get caught up in a buying frenzy and end up buying a bull or set of replacement females just because someone insinuates they may be pretty good. Seek out those breeders who are willing to take weights and measurements and provide scientific data on the stock they are merchandising. This will allow you to position yourself for the downward cycle that is inevitably ahead. The bright side of this fence is the fact that high quality genetics - bred to make a difference with the data to back them - has never been more affordable. They just don’t cost that much more and in most cases will be more profitable for you in the long run. A number of years ago, I traveled to central Montana to look at some bulls to make females with. That trip proved to be one of the most valuable and rewarding shopping adventures I have ever had within the cattle business.
