Brothers Joe and Jim Dunphy are the fifth generation to farm at Shamrock Nook. In 1989, after a dairy barn fire, Jim took an interest in some Red Angus cows that Ray Brickl had at World Beef Expo. Over the last 35 years, the two brothers have traveled the country looking at many of the finest herds from Redland, Leachman, Boot Jack, Andras, Messmer, Forster, Buffalo Creek, Bieber, Ludvigson, Beckton, Brickl, Hidden Creek, NER farms, and the list goes on. They are thankful for the direction and support of so many great Red Angus breeders. Their search for established maternal cows led them to Eleanor, Tidy Bee, Copper Queen, Stony, Erica, and Mimi females to lead the way. They feel fortunate to have partnered with Hornung Red Angus, Johnson Family Cattle, and Welsh Prairie Red Angus for this sale to offer you some of the best females in the Midwest.
In 2002 Andy bought his first Red Angus heifer, SRN Copper Queen M308. Two things happened that day, the beginning of Hornung Red Angus and a lifelong friendship with Shamrock Nook Red Angus. Hornung Red Angus has grown since 2002, Andy has been joined by wife, Alisa, and their daughter, Addyson. SRN Copper Queen M308 became the foundation of Hornung Red Angus. We strive to produce Red Angus cattle that will fit into any program.
Johnson Family Cattle, located in Shawano, Wis., is owned/operated by Brad & Lindsay Johnson along with children Isaac and Charlotte. The JFCC program is designed to produce functional, performance cattle that are the cattlemen’s kind. Having both been in the beef industry all their lives, the Johnsons started in the Red Angus breed in 2006. They continue to develop their herd with an aggressive A.I. and E.T. program, strict culling and an unwavering pursuit of the ideal beef animal.
Welsh Prairie Red Angus started breeding Red Angus cattle 29 years ago when Jeff and Gail got married. With busy work schedules, their cattle are basically run like commercial cattle - grazing on stock-piled grass and corn stalks as long as the snow allows. Cattle need to be trouble-free; they don’t have time to be messing with feet, udders or mothering issues. Welsh Prairie has found that Red Angus cattle meet that need.

AAHR Pick Tootsie 407M
Here is a nice deep, smooth made heifer with a wellbalanced set of EPDs. She is a good structured heifer that is built to last and will mature into an amazing bred heifer. Her quiet disposition has made her a favorite of Addyson since she was a calf. We are going to sound like a broken record, but Draft Pick daughters have really made fabulous females for us.
AAHR Mossy Copper 402M
This heifer has been a standout since she was a calf! She is out of a first calf heifer that did an amazing job, 402M has a 106 weaning ratio! She is long bodied with depth to her in a smooth made package, and a dark cherry red color. We have been very impressed with all of our Mossy Oak calves. This heifer is out of the Copper Queen line that is the backbone of our operation.
The best women have brains and beauty, and the best cattle combine excellent physical qualities with high genetic merit. This stout made, good looking sale feature puts together so many great attributes. Big bodied, super sound with striking balance and proportion; you won’t need a road map to find this one. Study her data sheet and you’ll find genetic quality on par with her stunning looks. Her sire is a performance powerhouse, and her dam is consistently one of our top producers. She sells bred up early to the GENEX AI sire Marksman for a quick return on your investment. Buy with confidence, just don’t let her catch you staring. The Stonys are one of the most prominent cow families here at Shamrock Nook, but the reality is they aren’t often for sale. Joe likes to hoard impressive, productive cows with quality feet, legs, and udders. As a result, there have only been a handful of females from this cow family that have been offered over the course of six Females of Fall sales at SRN. You can have faith that this young female will go home and turn into an impressive, highly productive cow with one added bonus – she’ll always be a Stony!

BROWN MS RETAIL PRODUCT U772
Here’s a Tarmily that is super easy fleshing. In fact, that might be an understatement. She’s a powerful cow with a lot of capacity – long sided and thick from behind. 172 combines two JFCC donors (X7539 and Tarmily) in one pedigree, and sells bred to the phenom Blue Print. Her productive dam also sells as lot 25.
“Callie” is a former show heifer for Isaac when he was just a little shaver. If you’re looking for a nice addition to your herd, this cow is a good mother with an ultra-chill temperament. Bred to our Angus sire Delmonico, her future black-hided baby is sure to be a keeper! We’re only selling her because she’s out of our calving window. Isaac said it’s ok to sell her, but don’t be surprised if he asks the buyer to take extra special care of her. Some kids raise cows, and some cows raise kids.
JFCC POWER STORM 380 380 is backed by the awesome Oh Power Baby cow, and brings outcross genetics from Schiefelbein Farms on the paternal side. If you want to create a unique Red Angus bovine, this female offers a cool pedigree twist with added calving ease, yearling growth and massive carcass numbers. The Remedy baby in her belly has a 50/50 chance of being a neat red-hided outcross with digits galore!

SRN Penny 2343 goes back to the first Penny that the Dunphys bought from Redlands in 1997. If you walk the pastures at Shamrock Nook, you'll see a cow called Y (aka SRN Penny Y127) and her dam, 9022 (also the grand dam of this heifer), who is 15 years old and has a 362-day calving interval. Bred to Remedy, who tops the 3 index scores at 15% or better, and ultrasound indicating that she's expected to have a heifer, this one will be an investment in future success! AI bred 5/4/2024 to ALC Remedy K60 (#4610533) Due 2/12/2025.
