Welcome to our 34th annual bull sale. I don’t know how we could be more grateful to be in

agriculture and the cattle business right now. After the winter of 2023 we are very fortunate to

have great weather, good feed supply, and a great cattle market in 2024. I do firmly believe that

the best is yet to come! The great weather and growing conditions have allowed us to offer one of the most uniform

and healthiest sets of bulls to date. Both age groups of bulls haven’t missed a beat and we hope

that you feel the same way. This set of females represents what we strive to raise in our environ-

ment. As always, the Elite heifers are right out of the front end of our replacement heifers. The

commercial heifers are a true replication of our cowherd and what we strive for a Sandhills beef

female to look like. We have the honor of working with the best cattlemen and women in America. In our task

this is something we do not take lightly because we know that for most of you, the cattle busi-

ness is your sole source of livelihood. We recognize that you have a lot of choices where to select

Semen Evaluation:

All bulls will be officially semen tested by Dr. Chris Finney of the Ainsworth Veterinary Clinic. This test includes semen analysis for vigor, concentrations, morphology and percentage live as well as an examination for physical defects such as abnormal testicles and warts. Scrotal circumferences were taken at this time. Any unsatisfactory bulls are eliminated from the sale offering. Scrotal measurements available sale day or at www.abcattle.com.

Herd Health:

The bulls have been vaccinated with Alpha 7 and Multimin 90 at birth, Once PMH 1N and Express 5-HS at branding, Presponse HM and Express 5-HS at pre-conditioning, and poured with Ivermectin at weaning. The bulls are ready for interstate shipment. Explanation of health protocol on females, explained in that section of the catalog.

Performance Information:

All printed EPDs in this catalog are the current 2024 EPDs as of Feb. 22, 2024. All of the bulls have genomic profiles which are incorporated in their updated EPDs available in this catalog. Any updates or corrections will be available sale day or prior to the sale on the website.

Embryo Transplant Program

We have a vigorous spring and fall embryo transfer program using the commercial cows in our herd as recipient cows. We have also purchased and shared our resources with other select Angus breeders. Some of those offspring are featured in this sale.

Our donor females at A & B Cattle are only the very elite home-raised cows that have achieved Pathfinder status and raised exceptional sale topping bulls. They have proven themselves in every way.

Our goal is is to use our transplant program to produce front end replacement females.



Beef producers across the nation can agree that cow longevity is one of the main factors leading to profitability and sustainability in their operations.

Functional Longevity Research.

Recently the American Angus Association released a research tool to select for just that ... the Functional Longevity (FL) EPD. This EPD predicts the number of calves a sire’s daughter is expected to produce on the average by six years of age compared to other sires’ daughters.

Analyzing the Data.

The FL research EPD counts the number of calves a female produces from 2-10 years of age, while considering when and why the females leave the herd early. Data has been collected from herds involved with Maternal Plus, like ours. We’ve been submitting data on our cow herd for 12 years now!

Our goal is to not only improve today’s genetics, but also prepare for the future of the Angus breed.
