Hello friends,

It brings me great pleasure to welcome you to the fourth annual Locust Hill Cattle Co. production sale. I appreciate everyone that has supported Locust Hill over the years, and I look forward to seeing each of you again this year!

I would first like to thank my wife Nikki, our sons, and their families - this sale would not be possible without their love and support. I also want to sincerely thank Bubba, whose knowledge and passion for this program and the Gelbvieh breed makes this all a reality. His attentiveness to our breeding program and his skillful decision making is evident in this year’s lineup. I would also like to extend my appreciation to the farm crew for their hard work and commitment- Justin, Noe, Jonathan, Grant, and Molly.

Our continued focus at Locust Hill is to produce the best Gelbvieh and Balancer cattle. We emphasize calving ease, fertility, growth, docility, and carcass genetics. We achieve this through an intensive AI and embryo transfer program which utilizes the best genetics that the breed has to offer. Careful planning goes into each mating decision in order to continue to enhance the quality of our herd. I am blessed to have Bubba as a part of Locust Hill, as his contributions to our genetic planning is invaluable.

This year we are offering a strong set of bulls. With their growth, fertility, and low birth weight, we feel confident that you can find an LHC bull to fit your needs. We have also selected an elite group of heifers for this year’s sale. With this year’s Gelbvieh Junior Nationals being close to home in Tennessee, we decided to offer our entire show string for sale. There are six halter-broke heifers ready to help you stand out in the ring!

I look forward to seeing you all on February 15. If I can be of any assistance, please let me know.

See you on sale day!

Sincerely,

of Lots 1, 2, & 3

These Julia sons have been standouts since birth. These three easily sort themselves to the top of the fall calf crop. They are big bodied, big boned, big footed, stout bulls, yet they still have a good look about them for being high percentage bulls. These bulls have a balanced set of EPD’s being low in birth weight, good growth, and strong maternal ability, being out of the great PRTY JULIA 2417J Cow family. All three are homo black homo polled.

We are working to get to strictly LHC bulls. We are looking forward to seeing these calves. Weaned off some big calves this fall, out of LHC bulls. Not a one under 600 lbs with the heaviest being 825. Our replacement paddock looks about as good as we’ve ever had - Cam C.

LHC Sweet Annie is the most complete, balanced, attractive female we’ve ever raised. Her dam, GCRK Vicki, has been called the most powerful balancer female in the breed by visitors, and the combination with TJB Rebel Yell was a home run. Judges comment on her massive rib shape and dimension, coupled with her feminity, and have said she’s the soundest, longest strided heifer they’ve seen on show day. Sweet Annie started her show career as Bred and Owned Champion at Jr Nationals and has seen the backdrop countless times since. We are selling half embryo interest with no possession and she will be available to flush in early May.

With this year’s Gelbvieh Junior Nationals being in Lebanon, TN, we have decided to offer all of this year’s show string! We have something for everyone, with Balancer and Purebred Spring and Fall heifers. All of these heifers come from donor females, and after their show career, we are confident that they will make tremendous cows. Lot 22, LHC Bobbi, was a division winner at both NAILE and Cattlemen’s Congress, which should come as no surprise, as she is a 3/4 sister to Ricky Bobby, our many time champion balancer bull. Lots 23 through 25 will not disappoint, as they are full sibs to Red Rado, who was Reserve Champion Gelbvieh female and American Royal in 2022. Lot 26 is out of Grand Plan, who dominated the 2022 Jr Nationals. Lots 27 and 28 come from TJB 249Y, who has produced several high selling bulls for us. All of these are halter broke and have been to multiple shows, with the exception of Lot 28, who is broke to tie.
