Wolfe Run Farms Dispersal Sale

For many years prior to E. L. Wolfe and Sons, my father, E. L. Wolfe had a love for horse racing, and did so for several years. When the family started to grow with a daughter and son in the mid 40’s, horse racing took a back seat. Farming and raising show calves became his next passion, starting with Herefords and later Angus, Simmentals and Cross breds.

In 1954, at the age of 10, my brother, Jerry showed his first Hereford steer and so it began. Showing feeder calves eventually trickled down to myself and my younger brother Tim. Dad had several other 4-Hers that helped him along the way. They not only helped him, but they got life-long lessons as well. Eventually our girls, Toni and Courtney were able to show with my dad coaching them from the sidelines. There were several years of showing at the State Fair of WV, Jackson’s Mill State Livestock Roundup and Meyersdale, PA. One of his best memories was having a steer that sold at the Mill to Christina Geuns, which she went on to show at the Michigan State Fair of 2001, winning Grand Champion and selling for $44,000.00.

After some health setbacks, my dad was no longer able to continue to work the farm, but still quite able to give orders from his recliner. I eventually took over the farm and started building my own herd. It took several years to find the right A.I Bulls and herd bulls to produce the kind of feeder calves I was looking for.

The quality of the calves have improved greatly with high placings and champion breeding heifers. Of course, my wife and I could not have done this without the help of our family. Our grandchildren, Logan and Lexi have been our greatest asset with their showmanship ability and always willing to help wash, clip or fit. We are fortunate to have our long time friend Eric Miller always there getting our calves looking good for show day.

Now at this time in our lives, we feel we have come full circle, it is now time for Donna and I to take a step back. We plan to do some traveling and visiting friends. We are happy to see that passion for raising and showing quality cattle lives on with our grandchildren, Logan and Lexi. Hopefully someday our younger grandchildren, Flynn and Molly will remember coming to Granny and Grandpa’s and bottle feeding, petting the baby calves, and naming their favorites and know it is a future they may want to pursue.

It is a bittersweet moment as Wolfe Run Farms has made the decision to disperse their herd. E.L Wolfe was known as one of the most respected cattlemen around and built a tremendous cow herd and Lyn has continued that tradition. They have worked so hard to establish themselves as one of the best producing cow herds in the east. This herd has produced many champions at several major shows and sale toppers at many sales for over 50 years. This offering of cows includes proven producers with some of the freshest genetics in the business. As you go through these cows, one thing that stands out is the incredible dispositions. There are several calves at side of these cows that will make a quick return on your investment. We are excited for you to see the group of yearling replacement heifers. We think they are an outstanding group. The cows are selling to you open and ready to breed to the bull of your choice. It is a rare opportunity to have a chance to buy club calf producing cow/calf pairs in the prime of their life. It is an honor for us to be able to work with the Wolfe family. Our families have been involved with each other since we were little kids showing and it is a blessing to have friends like Wolfes in the cattle business.

All transfers of cattle will be handled directly by the seller. Each registered animal will sell under the suggested terms and conditions of the breed association.
