Rogers Cattle Co. Red Angus Lile Farms 10th Annual Herd Builder Sale

Page 1

Welcome to our 10th Annual Herdbuilder Sale and celebration of 20 years in the Red Angus breed! It is a privilege to offer this set of cattle, as they are a reflection of our progress toward the breeding goals we have established to better serve our customers. Our cowherd has a simple, but important job description: have a good disposition, breed back quickly, raise a quality calf each year while being structurally correct with a quality udder and performing well on fescue. We have increased our emphasis on carcass quality, optimal calving ease/birth weight, and body width. Our focus on these traits is highly evident in this sale.

We are thankful for the friendships and partnerships the cattle industry has brought into our lives. It is especially rewarding to hear back from customers about how the cattle perform and how accurately we describe the traits of these cattle in our salebook. We are also thankful for opportunities to be a blessing to others with our time and talents. Please take note of the Donation Lots 35/35A and 35B for the Kaderly family on pages 22-23.

As I analyze the cattle industry today, I believe now is a crucial time to invest in high-quality genetics that combine essential maternal traits with carcass value. We strive to develop these cattle in a manner that expresses their genetic potential while preparing them for a lifetime of productivity and longevity. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or to schedule a pre-sale visit.

Performance, Power, & Maternal strength!

Growth and Power! STRATEGIC PLAN K871 is the type and kind that will propel Red Angus to acceptance throughout the beef industry. Elite carcass and growth combined with maternal strength make this bull a next-level sire prospect. The potency and consistency of his donor dam, BROWN MS PRIDE Y7734 can be seen across all her progeny – including full-brother Lots 2, 3, 4 & 5, and a daughter as Lot 37. Put the right kind of pounds, and plenty of those pounds, in your next calf crop with STRATEGIC PLAN.

Power,

The long-term vision for the breed is to dominate the beef industry with Red Angus genetics. DOMINATE K725, like his 3 full brothers in this offering, is designed to hit the “beef” part of that vision. The need for power bulls to take over where heifer bulls leave off is evident to us, and this guy is designed to crank up weaning weights in your calf crop, add carcass value, and pass on the great maternal traits of his dam. DOMINATE may be the more balanced phenotype bull of these studs.

This quartet of full-sibs continues to impress. PATRIOT K310 is more moderate in his stature, but sacrifices nothing in terms of body width and muscle mass and marbling. Great on his feet, easy in his stride and good in his disposition. He carries on the traits we so admire of his sire, PATRIOT, with his big foot, stout build and thickness from end to end. The shorter gestation bull of these brothers, use him on those growthy heifers to pack a real punch at weaning.

This mid-November, natural calf of Y7734 also checks the boxes of power, performance and maternal strength. We continue to flush Y7734 for her unique carcass and growth contributions. She is the ONLY cow in the entire breed that combines her level of WW, YW, MARB, STAY, YG, CW & REA. It is time to stop single-trait selecting for calving-ease, and start selecting for these traits of merit that will add real value to your calf crop.

He will be a cow-maker and as we look at rebuilding the nation’s cowherd, bulls like this will never go out of style.

Another eye-catching son of TW TYCOON, this guy has the mass and shape to put pounds on the ground and leave daughters in your program. If you need a pair of brothers to cover a bunch of cows, take these two home and let them get the job done.

In terms of quality, eye appeal and true muscle down his top this guy is off the charts. Out of a lovely LSF SAGA cow with a picture perfect udder. He carries himself on great feet and bone. Look at his calving ease and take him home to your heifer replacement pen.

Absolute stud sired by PATRIOT. Early maturing, beef bull deluxe. This November-born powerhouse brings a shot of heterosis to the table. Moderate statured, thick from end to end, he ratioed a 118 rib eye and 118 for IMF. If you want carcass quality in your calves and pounds that pay, tie into this one.

Moderate-framed, meat wagon that is heifer safe. His 11 year old mother is our ideal cow in every aspect – easy fleshing, great disposition, super fertile and gets the job done on fescue.

This PATRIOT son is a full sib to Lot 23 last year, that had a lot of friends on sale day. He checks the boxes for calving ease and birth weight while being moderate in his frame. His dam is the widest bodied cow on the ranch, yet is easy fleshing and a family favorite for her disposition. ShowMe Select qualified and only a November, don’t miss him.

OUTFRONT son is big framed, long sided and out of the outstanding ANGELA 2073 cow that has proven herself time and time again with a 111 MPPA on 9 calves. He ratioed a 111 rib eye area and a 108 for IMF.

Whitley loves cheering them on and loves to “help”.

Square made, clean fronted with a smooth stride, this PATRIOT son hits the ShowMe Select mark for calving ease. His BANDO-sired dam has put her first two sons in the sale and continues to impress with her ideal udder.

Here’s an OUTFRONT son that stems from our RED ROSE cow family. He’s a low birth weight calving ease bull that is attractive in his design and longer sided. ShowMe Select qualified and the kind that will make replacement heifers in spades.

Jumping into these two-year old bulls, it’s hard to miss this PATRIOT son. Long as a rope, expressive in his muscle and big footed. He packs a punch for WW & YW. He’s long fronted and packs extra body dimension from end to end. From the REBA K100 cow family that has been part of our herd for the past 20 years – a legacy of productivity in fescue country for sure.

PRAGMATIC 125E brings a new sire to the offering and one that we are excited about. This stud is long made, deep sided and will catch your eye for his muscle shape. His pedigree stacks not only great cattle, but great herds with similar philosophies of maternal first without sacrificing carcass quality. This bull is low birth weight and still is top 10% for WW.

Here’s a heifer safe PATRIOT son that is big topped and deep sided. He’s wide based and does a lot of things right – ProS to 5%, HB top 23%, GM top 9%. He’ll make those easy keeping daughters that will be in high demand as we grow back the nation’s cowherd.

Here’s one with MVP potential. PAT MAHOMES 15 is a son of the legendary PIE ONE OF A KIND 352. He’s rare in his combination of length and body width from end to end. Level and big in his top, he is flat good from every angle. A low birthweight bull, look to use him on those bigger heifers or let him roll on some mature cows. These two year olds have been developed slowly with longevity in mind.

This percentage bull is really the PATRIOT kind – big bodied, good footed and masculine. His dam died when he was only 40 days old and he found a way to fend for himself and sort to the bull pen. If you want one that is easy fleshing and has the ability to thrive in a rough environment look here.

QUANTUM is a bull that has been used on cows and proven himself. He is long-sided, clean made and flawless in his feet and legs. He posted a 116 WW ratio and is a maternal brother to our walking sire MLK CRK SENECA whose sons were a highlight of last year’s offering.

This set of yearling bulls from Double V Ranch exemplify the power of discipline in selection and the use of genomic data to predict outcomes. Registered & Commerical Pairs

SALLEE 907 was our pick of the Milk Creek bred heifers in 2020 and her first calf was used as a clean up bull before highlighting last year’s sale. Wide bodied and gentle with a high-quality udder. She is a shorter gestation, easy calver and reflects our focus on performance and carcass quality well. She has a PATRIOT heifer calf at side and is bred back to PATRIOT for an October baby.

Ethan has informed me that he is not pleased that we are offering this pair, and he is a pretty good evaluator of Red Angus. I guess sometimes dad just needs to sell some good cows. If you liked the Y7734 sons in this sale, you will appreciate this moderate Y7734 daughter for her capacity in a moderate framed package. Great feet, carcass and growth built in. She is a flush mate to our PROFIT PRIDE G969 sire that we use AI. A WISCMO GROWTH STOCK heifer calf at side and bred back to MLK SENECA for a late-September/early-October calf. Her son sells as Lot 12.

Commercial Spring Pairs from the heart of Victor Miller’s Double V Ranch program. These young cows calved in March and have nice calves at side. Great udders and dispositions from these 3. They emphasize a balance of: calving ease, fertility, growth and carcass merit as well as disposition and structural soundness. They have a fall calving herd and use 100% AI in a short breeding season. Mike and Stephanie are in the process of transitioning their herd from spring to fall. We look forward to having their cattle back in the sale next year. We are thankful for their continued friendship, mentorship, and assistance.

Whitley loves to be wherever her family is or wherever there are cows. The boys have become a huge help during hay season and operating equipment around the farm. This year they learned to do field work with Papa Jim in Big Red before we planted wheat for haylage. Whitley started her Peewee show career. Big brothers let her borrow their heifers at the county fairs.
