The President's Pen I am extremely excited and appreciative to serve as the 2024 President of the Kansas Angus Association. I consider the members as extended family and would like to introduce myself for those newer members that may not know our family’s history with the association. Our family includes my husband, Ron and now adult children, Cale and Eva and together we operate Hinrichsen Ranch outside of Westmoreland, Kansas. We currently sell performance bulls and females as well as a few show cattle prospects. We raised our kids in the state and national junior Angus programs to help lay the foundation for their future involvement. As a family, we have been active members of the KAA and KJAA supporting various projects and providing many volunteer hours. At the state level, we all served through various roles culminating our tenures as president for each entity: Ron, 2014 KAA President, Cale, 2020-21 KJAA President and Eva, 2022-23 KJAA President. In addition, I served as President for the Kansas Angus Auxiliary in 2007-08 and as President of the American Angus Auxiliary in 2015. You could say our family all have servants’ hearts and thrive on being able to give back to the people and organizations we are involved with. The beef industry is our passion, especially Angus cattle, and off the ranch we all work in some sector of the industry. Ron works in animal health sales, Cale is in ag distribution sales, Eva is attending grad school and coaching the Ft. Hays State University livestock Judging team and I am the Seedstock Sales Director for Vytelle. As a family, we understand organizations are only as strong as their members and volunteers. I look forward to serving the membership by helping keep our association progressive and financially sound, as well as exploring new programs and opportunities. I look forward to listening to and learning from the members as I serve you throughout this year. Best regards,

Lynne Hinrichsen 2024 Kansas Angus Association President

Top Sire honored at the 2023 Angus Convention Deer Valley Growth Fund records over 5,000 progeny. Over the last 150 years, the popularity of Angus cattle has grown, making over 70% of America’s cowherd influenced by Angus genetics. Influential sires have made their mark and during the 2023 American Angus Association® Awards Dinner and Reception on November 5 in Orlando, Florida, the Association recognized the sire registering the most progeny. Deer Valley Growth Fund owned by Deer Valley Farm, Fayetteville, Tenn., sired 5,006 calves registered into the Angus herd book, the most in fiscal year 2023. Jonathan Perry, general manager of Deer Valley Farm, was honored to accept the award. “We have loved seeing the success Angus breeders have had with Growth Fund.” Recognizing these sires highlights the breeders dedicated to providing top-quality Angus bulls. “Our members enjoy wide diversity in genetics to achieve whatever their breeding goals are,” said Mark McCully, chief executi ve officer of the Association. “We’re thankful for these cattlemen committed to breed improvement.”
