Lemke Cattle 19th Annual Bull and Female Sale

Page 1

Welcome to Lemke Cattle

Thank you for your interest in our 19th Annual Lemke Cattle Bull and Heifer Sale! What a year it’s been! As I write this letter, one year ago today Dad was having one of the worst days of his life, in recovery from his brain surgery on January 11, while I was in my first year of being back on the ranch full-time. After such uncertain and turbulent times in 2024, we are

thankful Dad is safe and sound as we begin 2025! With great sadness, we lost each of my Grandpa’s this past summer, Jack Lemke and Francis Vineyard. They each left great memories and legacies that will not be soon forgotten. This fall, Mom retired from her job, and Dad and I (and our stomachs) have loved having her here full-time. My eldest sister, Sammy, and her husband, Matt, have recently moved back to Lawrence, and we could not be more thrilled! Despite loss and troubling times through this past year, we have been greatly blessed as we look toward the future!

We are mighty excited about this year’s offering! This set is filled with future herd sires that we believe will excel in many facets of the industry. Whether you are looking for power and performance, calving ease, maternal excellence, structural soundness, phenotype, end product merit, or anything in between, we believe this offering has the bull to satisfy your needs!

Sincerely, Tanner Lemke

BEEF IN SCHOOLS DONATION RAFFLE

In Loving Memory

JOHN R. “Jack” lemke

With heavy hearts we had to say goodbye to our loving Dad, Grandpa, & Husband this June at the age of 91. Jack was deeply committed to his family & especially proud of

his 7 children, 11 grandchildren & 20 great grandchildren. Dad loved attending local gatherings with his devoted wife, Arlene, and enjoyed sharing countless stories with those fortunate enough to know him. He passed on his tremendous work ethic and commitment to completing every task with quality workmanship. His love of animals and passion for breeding quality cattle lives on today.

Dad passed along this advice that he received from his Dad, “Always spend too much on bulls. You’ll never regret the quality down the road!”

All bulls are covered 100% to be sound & fertile. Buyers of all bulls selling for $4,000 or more that sustain injury during first breeding season will have 100% credit at the next sale at the value of purchase minus $3,000 salvage value. Contact Lemke Cattle promptly in this event, we usually have replacement bulls available. Breeding season is defined as the 90 day period following the first turnout of a bull.

FREE CARE

Bulls will be fed and cared for at purchaser’s risk until April 1st. Bulls may be fed after April 1st at the cost of $4.00 per head per day. Any bulls picked up within 3 days of sale will have $100 deducted from the purchase price.

Any announcements made sale day will take precedence over any information printed in the catalog.

HEALTH

All bulls are on a complete health program. Vaccinated with IBR, BVD Type I and II, P13, BRSV, Pasturella, 7-way, Haemophilus, wormed and poured. All bulls have tested negative BVD.

EMBRYO TRANSPLANT CALVES

Embryo Transplant Calves are born to and raised from a recipient cow, therefore the actual birth and weaning weights are not an accurate representation of the calves performance. EPD’s give a much more accurate picture of their true genetic potential.

All bulls have been tested and are free of genetic defects.

DELIVERY

Free delivery of bulls in Nebraska and Northern Kansas, or meet at central locations. Transportation of females is the responsibility of the buyer and must be picked up within two days of the sale. We’ll be happy to assist with transportation and females will be fed and cared for until picked up.

weaning weights

In our experience, we have found that adjusted weights can be misleading or easily skewed one way or another, and do not always paint an accurate picture. So, we decided to post actual weaning weights in this year’s catalog along with the dates they were recorded, that way you can see all the information with full transparency and make your own conclusions. Below, all bull lots are listed by the date they were weaned. In parentheses is the date 205 days prior to each weaning date as a way to reference their birth dates. Hopefully this makes sense, and we would be glad to answer any questions. Thank you!

LOT 1

LOTS 1-4 FLUSH BROTHERS

For the first time, the Red Angus are at the front of our catalog, and we are pleased to have this set of Captain sons lead it off. These brothers stack the well balanced and maternally oriented calving ease sire, PIE Captain, with the powerful and heavy-muscled HXC Grindstone. They are thick and long-bodied bulls with more than adequate performance, yet in a disciplined frame size. Their dam is one of 3 powerful flush sisters we flushed as heifers, whose 7 full brothers averaged over $6,800 in the 2023 sale. Study the expanded pedigree on these first 4 lots and you will find an overabundance of renowned AI sires and donor cows, including 4 consecutive generations of Lemke donor dams. These bulls are accompanied by 11 full sisters that are easy fleshing, dark red, and consistent in kind.

Lot 1

LEM MOJO 4004

Impressive from every angle with spring of rib, crest, a big hip, and an attractive small head. We will be using him back in our program immediately, including on heifers. This might be the best bull to ever come through our program.
