We would like to welcome you to the annual Axtell Cattle Company bull and female sale.
Times are good in the cattle industry. Calf prices are at record highs and this is a good time to invest in the future of your herd with bulls that will improve your cow herd. This set of bulls is one that we are very proud of. They weaned incredibly well with basically no sickness and took off growing. The quality runs deep on this group of bulls! This group of bulls will be in working condition, they have a little less fat on them compared to last year. The bulls weighed a little less at weaning due to drought but have grown well on test.
We feel the quality of the registered heifers is excellent. As a whole, this is a very feminine group of heifers. We’ve included heifers from all of our sire lines including our new sires. We have growthy heifers and more moderate, calving ease type heifers. We wanted to include many varying types so there is one for everyone. Be sure to check out videos of all the bulls and heifers online at DVauction.com. Keep in mind that they will have matured another month from the date of the videos.
The commercial heifers will be from three customers and will include a nice group of first calf heifer pairs in addition to the open heifers. One group will be January calves with extra growth. These are the heifers that have topped our sale nearly every year. The other group will be early April born heifers that will be more moderate in frame with excellent quality. Both groups of heifers will be great assets to commercial herds in the area. The pairs are from reputation genetics and are ready for grass.

The sale offering will be available for viewing at the sale location on the afternoon of March 30th. Inspection of Cattle: All bulls and registered heifers can be viewed at the ranch near Anton. Please call to set up an appointment and obtain directions. All sale animals will be available for preview at the sale location on the afternoon of March 30th.
Health: Health papers can be furnished for cattle to be shipped out of state. All bulls have passed a breeding soundness exam and trich test.
Delivery: Free delivery up to 250 miles offered for bulls and registered heifers. Free nationwide delivery for purchases totaling over $10,000. NO DELIVERY IS AVAILABLE ON COMMERCIAL HEIFERS.
Possession: Bulls can be taken after purchase or we will care for the bulls until April 15th, free of charge.
Guarantee: All bulls have passed fertility tests. All bulls will be guaranteed sound for the first breeding season (until Sept 1, 2025); however, the seller will not be held responsible for mistreatment or mismanagement. If a suitable replacement is available he will be furnished OR a credit toward a purchase in next years sale if a suitable replacement is not available.
Sale Order: Commercial heifers will start the sale, followed by bulls and registered heifers in catalog order.
Semen Interest: Axtell Cattle is retaining a 1/3 revenue sharing semen interest in all bulls selling. Buyer will retain all salvage value of bull.
EPD Updates: Please note that EPD’s are now recalculated weekly. Data in the catalog is from the end of February.
Genomic Testing: All registered bulls have been sire verified and genomic tested using the GGPLD 100k. This level of accuracy is equivalent to 15-20 progeny records.

2024 was the last breeding season for Red Knight. He bred cows for seven years here. He was one of the heaviest muscled bulls we've had. He was moderate framed and very easy keeping. I never saw him thin. His influence is felt throughout the sale.

We were intrigued by 252 due to his correct structure, moderate frame and the fact that his dam was 15 and still producing. We’ve been very happy with his first calf crop, they are a good outcross to our typical bloodlines.
Coming soon...We look forward to seeing the next calf crop featuring these herd sires. Craftsman was the much talked about Lot 1 in last year’s Flat Water Gang Sale. Commercial heifers
This year we are offering a group of commercial first calf pairs in addition to the commercial replacement heifers. These heifers are owned and raised by Wyckoff Cattle from Cheraw, Colorado, Steve and Matt Kalous from Brush, Colorado and Lucas and Maureen Beek from Cheyenne Wells, Colorado.
Each lot of heifers will come into the ring in small groups, sorted by weight and type. The buyer will buy the group in the ring or has the option of taking the whole lot. We would allow a young person to pull one heifer out if they are wanting to find a show heifer.
We believe this is a great group of commercial females that will make their new owners proud. The commercial heifers will START the sale at 1:00 P.M. so be ready for these outstanding females!
LOT A: Wyckoff Cattle, JD Wyckoff - Cheraw, Colorado (580) 247-8154
Wyckoff Cattle is offering 10 first calf pairs.
These heifers originated from the Pat Shannon ranch in Kim, Colorado. They are straight Red Angus from a top commercial herd. The heifers were vaccinated in the fall and had Cleanup 2 on February 26th. The calves received a shot of 7 Way at birth. The calves are sired by Axtell Action and Cube sons both from the Axtell 785 cow, locking in uniformity. The calves were born mid February. This is a rare opportunity to purchase first calf pairs of top genetics. This lot allows you to get income quickly and still be left with a good young cow and the work of calving heifers is already done.

Steve and Matt are offering 15 head of replacement heifers.
These heifers are born in January and February and are out of a high performance / maternal cattle herd. They will have extra size and weight and will make top cows. They are sired many past sale toppers from our herd. They will be mostly by Flying K Max, Red Knight, Dominator, Knock Out and Redwing sons. They buy the good ones and it is evident in the quality of their cattle. If you want to tie into top genetics, look at these girls. I would call this group, one of the best sets of cattle to sell in the state this spring. These heifers are weighing in the 800 lb. range, but are moderate framed and backed by generations of similar type. Please call Steve to discuss these heifers. The Beek family – Lucas and Maureen Beek are offering 15 head of replacement heifers. These heifers are born in April and are from a maternal cattle herd that doesn’t pamper their cattle. These cattle will know how to go out and work for a living. These heifers are all April born heifers and will really pop when they get out on grass. They are sired by Axtell and Kravig Red Angus bulls. They will be a nice set of cattle from a really good family that has a passion for good cattle. The Beek’s also have a beef business, so contact them for that as well. These heifers are weighing in the 600-650 lb. range, are moderate framed and backed by a quality cowherd. This long made heifer bull has good growth to go with it. I always notice him in the pen. He's the kind I like, low BW, good growth and the looks to back it up.

This long bodied bull is very long, deep and has ample muscle. These bulls are linebred and will produce some of the best daughters you will find.
The final black bull of the day is very thick and meaty. He will definitely improve fleshing ability and thickness. If you want low input cattle that have thickness, take a close look here.
Registered Heifers
We will be bringing the heifers into the ring in groups of two. You will have the option of purchasing one heifer or both, your choice.
The heifers in the offering are right out of the replacement pen including some from the very top. They are not big, fat heifers, but are in good condition to go to work for you. They will grow well once they hit green grass. They are raised right along with our other heifers and should mature into 1,000 lb. bred heifers. We feel that over feeding young heifers is detrimental to their potential milking ability and structure.
We’ve included some of our top growth heifers and some of the more moderate heifers in an attempt to have something for different tastes in cattle. There are quite a few heifers in this offering that I really don’t want to part with, but we only have so many spots.

Boxer came home from World West Sires to breed cows here this summer. We look forward to his calves hitting the ground now. His maternal brother sells in the sale as Lot 19.

This was a year spent making memories with our family!
Clay’s high school team was the state runner up in 1A baseball.
We don’t usually get away too often but we decided a special trip in honor of Brian’s 50th birthday was in order this past summer. He has always loved the Pittsburgh Pirates so we snuck away to catch a game at PNC Park.
The pickup and trailer made a great billboard for Brian and his mom to cheer on the team as they passed through Anton on the way to state.
Clay transferred schools this year which meant a change from 6-man to 8-man football. His team had a great season and ended up as the state runner-up.
Clay’s travel team, the Buckley Bombers, earned a spot at the 16U Babe Ruth World Series in Branson, MO. What a fantastic opportunity to represent Northeast Colorado and Nebraska as well as the USA.
We said goodbye to our friend Petey this past summer. He had gotten to be Brian’s right hand man when he went out to feed or check cows.
