Welcome to Wedel Beef Genetics’ 25th Annual Bull & Replacement Female Sale
Welcome to our 25th annual production sale. We, and much of the southern plains have been blessed with some much needed moisture, and are off a summer/fall calf market that routinely valued weaned calves over $1700 per head and yearlings over $2200. The bulls we’ll offer on March 11th are the result of breeding decisions made in the spring of 2023, but more than that they are the product of 10 years of testing for Feed Efficiency, 40 plus years of feedlot and carcass data collection and more than 10 generations of our cow herd being honed for maternal efficiency and environmental fit against all the droughts and harsh winters our western great plains location could offer.
Last spring I remarked that I’m having more fun breeding Red Angus seedstock than I’ve ever had. That results from witnessing the success our customers have enjoyed with market topping results during the big summer video sales as well as seeing the daughters of bulls from our program such as Cornerstone, Ranchmaster and Prime-Time function so well in our less than welcoming environment.
2025 will be our 8th year of using the $Profit suite of economic selection indices to describe our cattle, and offer ranchers what we feel is the industry’s most meaningful tool to compare cattle for their relative contribution towards “whole-herd” profitability. In addition, 2025 will mark our 10th year of collecting individual animal dry matter intake (DMI) to evaluate the relative efficiency with which our cattle convert feed. It wasn’t very long ago that pens of cattle with feed conversion below 6 lbs. of dry matter per pound of gain were newsworthy. A good percentage of our 2025 sale bulls converted below 5, and a handful of bulls converted below 4 lbs of dry matter per pound of gain. We are confident that the progress we are making to improve feed efficiency is going to play a big part of making our customers’ herds more profitable and our beef industry more sustainable for future generations.
This will be our 9th year of selling bulls with our good friends at Anderson Land & Cattle. Our ranch customers from the high deserts of eastern Oregon and northern Nevada tell us their ALC prefix bulls hold up just like the Wedel bulls, which we expect since they are developed exactly the same and the Andersons share very similar selection priorities. Thanks again for your interest in Wedel Beef Genetics, please let us know if we can better serve you in either bull selection or in the marketing of your next calf crop!

Anderson Land & Cattle, Inc.
The cattle produced at Anderson Land & Cattle have been founded on strong maternal, growth and carcass traits since the mid 70’s. We have used many selection tools along the way to accelerate our genetic progress. Artificial Insemination, carcass data collection and embryo transfer are standard operating procedures. Good cow families produce good bulls. Our females are scrutinized heavily and must produce and prove their value. We are realizing the improvements made through years of production records. By selecting those strong females as donor cows we can produce a larger percentage of calves born each year with those important genetics.

We strive to produce cattle that excel in every measurable area. Finishing our cattle in our own lots allows us to observe and measure progress from the day they hit the ground until they leave the yard headed for the rail. Since 2010, over 1400 home raised cattle have earned 21 Red Angus Gridmaster awards. Our pasture to plate operation is providing us the ability to build a better bottom line, one cow at a time for our program and yours. Thanks to the Wedels for allowing us to join them in offering you some great profit opportunity selections. Sincerely,
The ALC Crew
Thank you Adolfo...
Adolfo Ibarra started working for us nearly 48 years ago. He has been an invaluable part of the success of Wedel Beef Genetics. He has become an accomplished herdsman and no one is better in the feedlot to see a calf that needs attention. In other words he can do anything and everything and do all of them with excellence. He started working for us at age 18 as a seasonal employee. He married Betty and became full time four years later. In 1992 he became a full United States citizen. He probably knows the constitution better than most. Adolfo and Betty raised two sons. Limber lives in Salina with his family and is a full time firefighter and EMT. He is also an EMT instructor. Michael lives in Lawrence and is a Dr of psychology and works with troubled and abused youth in the court system. We wish Adolfo a well earned retirement and if he decides retirement doesn’t suit him, he will always have a job with Wedel Beef Genetics. Thank you for your many years of faithful service.
Frank and Susan Wedel
At Wedel Beef Genetics, Rancher Profitability is Job #1
In the fall of 2015 we introduced our goals of improving beef industry profitability through improved feed efficiency. Now, four years later, we’re making our feed intake and conversion data even more meaningful. By leveraging the complete contemporary group data we collect on all of our bulls against hundreds of thousands of animals that have been similarly evaluated by the $Profit team, we bring the power of pedigree relationships to the prediction of feed efficiency and in this year’s catalog will present this information in a true multi-breed Feed Efficiency EPD: F:G. In addition, the relevance of Feed Efficiency data and the resultant EPD are enhanced through it’s inclusion in a multi-breed economic selection index; $Profit.
How $Profit Works:
$Profit assumes that the average commercial bull will sire 100 progeny over his lifetime, that 30% of the replacements will be retained and that the rest of the heifers and all of the steers will be finished and sold on a value-based grid. Even though many ranchers sell their calves at weaning - and don’t own them all the way to harvest, we have seen feedlots’ willingness to pay for calves from genetics recognized for superior post-weaning value.
Example:
• Bull A has a $Profit of $8,000
• Bull B has a $Profit of $4,000
• We would expect Bull A to produce $4,000 ($40/head x 100 calves) than Bull B $Profit = One number that predicts your bottom-line!
How F:G (Feed/Gain) Works:
Predicts differences in the amount of feed a bull’s progeny will consume to produce one pound of gain.
F:G Example: Bull A = 0.25 F:G EPD Bull B = -0.25 F:G EPD
Progeny from Bull B would be expected to consume 1/2 pound less dry matter for each pound of gain when compared to progeny from Bull A.
What traits are included in $Profit?
Nearly every trait that impacts profitability. The relationship between most traits and profit is usually straight forward. Here is the list relevant traits and their impact on $Profit:
Revenue Traits:
• Calving Ease = More Calves
• Weaning & Yearling EPD = More payweight
• Fertility = more calves produced over a cow’s lifetime
• Carcass Weight = worth more up to 1050 lbs.
• Marbling = valued based on grid premiums
• Ribeye area = value as impacts Yield Grade
• % Retail Product = more yield is more meat
Cost Traits:
• Cow Mature Size = in general, bigger eats more
• Cow intake = increased feed intake means increased costs
• Feed Efficiency = cost of Gain
• Carcass Weight = worth more up to 1050 lbs.
• Marbling = valued based on grid premiums
Some traits are less easily characterized. Milk for example, is a good thing until you get too much. When milk EPD moves over +25 it begins to have more of a negative effect on fertility than the positive effect it has on weaning weight.
$Ranch:
Selection Simplified: $Profit, $Ranch & $Feeder
$Ranch was developed for cow calf producers who retain their own replacements and market 100% of the steer calves and cull heifers after weaning. This is a very typical production system for a majority of beef producers, so $Ranch is an excellent tool for producers to compare how different bulls will impact their profitability.
Traits included in $Ranch = Fertility, Milk, Weaning Growth, Cow Herd Feed Intake and Mature Cow Size
Multi-generational use of $Ranch will ultimately result in increased pounds of calf harvested per unit of feed/land resource.
Example:
•Bull A has a $Ranch of $80
•Bull B has a $Ranch of $40
•We would expect Bull A to produce $40/head greater profit than Bull B.
$Feeder:
$Feeder is a tool developed to compare how bulls will impact profitability in the post-weaning phase (weaning to harvest).
Traits included in $Feeder = Feed Conversion, Carcass Value (Marbling & Yield Grade) and Carcass Weight
Example:
•Bull A has a $Feeder of $100
•Bull B has a $Feeder of $150
•We would expect Bull B to produce $50/head greater profit than Bull A during the feeding and finishing phases of the production cycle.
Cow Herds Built to Last - FERTILITY EPD
The Cow Fertility EPD predicts large differences in the calf crop percentage expected from a bull’s daughters! High Fertility EPD bulls will build cow herds with consistently better breed back, higher calf crop percentage weaned, less culling requirements, and reduced replacement rates. Improved calf crop percentage drives HUGE differences in profitability. The Cow Fertility EPD was incorporated into both $Ranch and $Profit in January 2023 due to it’s huge impact on Profitability.
Fertility EPD Example:
•Bull A has a FERTILITY EPD of 2.0
•Bull B has a FERTILITY EPD of 1.0
•We would expect daughters of Bull A to produce 1 more calf during the first 8 years of their life when compared to daughters of Bull B
LOT 1 - ALC MASTERCLASS M31
Get ready for a whole new approach to sustainable profitability in the beef business. MasterClass packages previously unatainable spread from Calving Ease to Yearling and Carcass Weight with Marbling that’s more than a full standard deviation better than the top 1% of Red Angus - No other bull in the RAAA database can match that combination of traits. He earned ultrasound ratios of 141 IMF and 114 REA, and his dam has average progeny ratios of: 108 weaning, 111 yearling, 113 IMF and 104 REA.
We plan to use this bull in our program
SOR Marlee Brn CMT 9266W, (pictured at 12-years-old) is both paternal and maternal great-great grandam of Lot 1

ALC MASTERCLASS M31
WEDEL APTITUDE 4081
LOT 2 - WEDEL APTITUDE 4081
Lot 2 has a talent for profit across all links of the beef supply chain, and with his tremendous lower rib shape and elite Fertility EPD, you’ll want a whole herd of his daughters. Aptitude got more valuable with each trip through the chute earning ratios of: 103 weaning, 111 yearling, 120 ADG, 147 IMF and 109 REA. Plus he checks a lot more boxes: docile, excellent foot structure, single-digit ranks for Feed Efficiency, and his dam maintains a 364-day calving interval which supports his elite rank for Fertility.
We plan to use this bull in our program
LOT 3 - ALC BREAKTHROUGH M19
One things for sure, if you asked 10 different bull customers which is the best bull in the sale... all three of these first Transcendent sons would be on someone’s list and Lot 3 would have his fair share of supporters. He has the highest GridMaster index of any bull born in the Red Angus breed in 2024. BREAKTHROUGH is a 3/4 brother to Lot 1, and like him comes with unmprecented ranks for pay weight and marbling and adds single-digit ranks for REA and Fertility. We plan to use this bull in our program
ALC BREAKTHROUGH M19
LOT 4 - WEDEL PREDICTION 4172
Prediction is the Prime Time son out of the E7102, dam of the $80,000, Ranchmaster. The result of two highly proven individuals, Prediction removes the guesswork from your next calf crop and entrusts your cow herd to highly predictable genetics. He comes by his tremendous spread and carcass merit naturally, his pretty uddered 8-year-old dam maintains incredible progeny ratios of: 15% lighter at birth, 7% heavier at weaning, 5% heavier at yearling, with 16% more marbling and 4% more REA.
We plan to use this bull in our program
ALC PREFERENCE M18
LOT 5 - ALC PREFERENCE M18
If you’ve got heifers to breed, this bull is for you! Not many calving ease specialists come with Top 1% GridMaster, a 20 CED to 125 YW spread, Top 1% Marbling and 1% values for both $Profit and $Feeder. His dam is a 5/8 sister to the dam of Lot 1, and his maternal grandam, 9266W is one of the best daughters of marbling legend, Brown Commitment S7206, and had the udder of a 4-year-old when she was 12. We think the two Prime-Time sons on this page will work in large commercial heifer breeding projects. We plan to use this bull in our program
WEDEL PERPETUAL 4188
LOT 6 - WEDEL PERPETUAL 4188
If you like females that are densely made, moderate framed, deep-ribbed and wide sprung, you need to own Lot 6 and keep all the daughters. Perpetual comes out of the good uddered 10-year-old maternal grandam of the $80,000 Wedel Ranchmaster 9052G, who has nearly 10,000 units of semen sales to his credit. His cow herd building credentials are supported by his single-digit ranks for Fertility, Heifer Pregnancy Rate, Maternal Calving Ease and $Ranch. Selection for $Ranch over time builds a cowherd with responsible frame size, superior breed-up, improved stocking rates and more pounds of calf weaned per acre.
ALC PRIMAL M58
The 107 MPPA Confidence Plus dam of Lot 7 is deep bodied, good uddered, sound footed, and one of the most functional females in the ALC program. If you or your bull customers sell them by the pound, you’ll want Lot 7. If they sell them on a value based grid, they’ll really want this bull.
WEDEL CORNERPOST 4103
Here’s a half brother to last year’s $37,000 high sellng bull. If selling more pounds of premium beef while spending less on feed sounds like a good strategy for your operation, take a hard look at Lot 8, and his better than 1% rank for Feed Efficiency. He earned ratios of: 116 weaning, 108 yearling and 108 IMF.
ALC CORNERSTONE M70
Those top cow families just keep showing up. Lot 9’s 109 MPPA dam is a full sister to the maternal grandam of Lot 9. This Cornerstone son had ultrasound ratios of 105
and 109
Lot 10 - WEDEL TRU-2-FORM 4005
ALC BULLET PROOF M65
G A R TRANSCENDENT
ALC TRANSCENDENT K02
TRU-2-FORM is as exciting as when his sire went through this sale ring as our top Black/Red to date and now he’s produced 4 of the first 10 bulls in the sale order. Lot 10 had almost an unfair advantage considering he was raised by a Prime-Time 2-year-old, who raised him to a 113 weaing weight ratio with a typically flawless udder. You’re going to be impressed with the foot structure on this Transcendant sire group and Lot 10 is no exception.
ALC REMEDY
2 years ago, someone took a chance on a black/red bull named Transcendant K02, and look how well that decision has been rewarded. Nows your chance to get in on the ground floor on this next significant outcross Black/ Red Sire. Just imagine what a bunch of Red sons of Bullet Proof might be worth two years from now.
These Remedy’s might just be the largest sire group in this offering and that’s for good reason. He improves spread from CED to Yearling, has elite marbling, improves feed efficiency, and they are easy to look at. This one traces back to the great Commitment daughter, 9266W, who shows up in the pedigree of Lots 1,5,9 and 10.
ALC REMEDY K60
Sire of Lots 5 & 6
ALC ABILITY M66
ALC Ability M66 supports his better than Top 1% Marbling EPD with a 139 IMF ratio and a pedigree the best two high accuracy Red Angus quality grade sires of the past 20 years: 5L Genuine 1603-195C and Brown Commitment S7206. This is another branch of the same cow family that produced lots: 1, 5, 9 and 10.
WEDEL CURE-ALL 4296
We can’t make a more profitable growth curve than Lot 14. He was 12% lighter at birth, 12% heavier at weaning, gained 11% faster to weigh 12% more at yearling. At ultrasound he had 7% more IMF and 20% larger REA. One of the featured calving ease specialist in the sale.
WEDEL REMEDY 4153
Look to these Remedy sons to add big tops and lots of eye appeal. Lot 15 will improve Ribeye, Marbling, Gain, Growth, Feed Efficiency and calf crop value when used on a set of “wet” 2-yr-olds or mature cows.
$
Who knew calving ease could have so much shape and muscle? Here’s two half-brothers to Brown Reverence L156, the $40,000 high selling bull at last October’s RA. Brown Ranch sale going to Genex and Koester Red Angus. Lot 16 graced the cover of our 25th Annual Sale catalog, and earned ratios of: 103 weaing, 107 yearling, 111 ADG, 115 IMF and 106 REA.
Lot 18 combines outstanding spread from easy calving CED to tremendous, gain, weaning, yearling and carcass weight. He also combines best of breed marbling with superior feed efficiency, so you’ll earn bigger carcass premiums and buy less feed in the process.
ALC TRANSCENDENT M42
Another well balanced Transcendent son with outstanding foot structure, tremendous spread from low birthweight to heavy weaning weight, rapid post weaning gains and better than 1% Marbling.
ALC CULMINATION M32
If you ran second place back on the amazing Lot 3 Transcendent son, here’s his full-brother! He and his brother are tied for the high Red bulls for $Profit. The combination of best of breed carcass weight and marbling means even bigger PRIME premiums.
WFL PROSPECT 5084
Dam of the $50,000, WFL ProfitMaker E7030, maternal grandsire of Lot 19. Pictured here at the Wallace Ranch. Our donors and herd bull mothers are expected to live the same as the rest of our cowherd, with no extra supplementation.
WEDEL TRANSCENDENT 4016
Lot 21’s Cornerstone dam hit it out of the park on her first attempt, weaning Lot 21 with a 116 weaning ratio. We like the udder quality on Cornerstone daughters, the 2nd crop of which is having their first calves this year
Lot 22 - WEDEL EQUILIBRIUM 4143
Frank “wands” a cow in the chute which reads her EID tag and is connected to the electronic scale heads recording weights and other herd data.

This will be the first crop of Equilibrium sons to sell, and they are thick, deep and big topped. Equilibrium was the $34,000 high selling bull in our 2023 sale going to Mushrush Ranches. Lot 22 ratioed 107 at both weaning and yearling.
Just like his “old man” Lot 23 delivers profitability across all phases of beef production. Lot 23 balances 10 traits in the top 25% of Red Angus.
Keep all the daughters of Lot 25. His black/red Success dam has a beautiful udder and maintains a 353-day calving interval as a 4-year-old. His 2-yearold maternal-sister by Cornerstone is a prototype Red Angus first calver.
WEDEL EQUILIBRIUM 4039
#4959094
This big middled Equilibrium son gained ground in this order with each trip through the chute, earning ratios of: 106 weaning, 110 yearling, 115 ADG, 110 IMF and 102 REA.
WEDEL EQUILIBRIUM 4067
Another Equilibrium son that’s loaded with performance. Lot 27 was born 12% lighter than his contemporaries, but went on to earn ratios of: 112 weaning, 109 yearling, 104 ADG, 106 IMF and 107 REA.
WEDEL CORNERSTONE 4083
Frank and Susan’s granddaughters, Olivia and Sophia sang the National Anthem to open the sale in 2024!
This calving ease specialist by Cornerstone is out of a first calf daughter of Prime-Time who weaned him at a 108 ratio.
The dam of Lot 29 is the maternal grandam of Lot 1. Great cow families are woven throughout this sale offering.
ALC IN THE BLACK M61
Lot 32 is the first in a pair of ET full-brothers out of a highly productive Ultimatum daughter. These two represent high marbling, outcross genetics to many of the bloodlines Wedel and Anderson customers have purchased in recent years.
Cornerstone has superior marbling and CED to YW spread, just like his sire, 5L Genuine 1603-195C, but he adds best 1% Feed Efficiency. Lot 30 earned ratios of: 107 weaning, 105 yearling and 119 IMF.
ALC IN THE BLACK M55
$
ALC JUMPSTART M09
There are some excellent sons of the $185,000 Jumpstart in this offering, and Lot 34 is one of the best. A calving ease bull that will improve gain, quality grade, and replacment female value.
WEDEL TOP TIER 4211
WFL COMMITMENT 042Y
This is the first of several Top Tier sons to sell. Count on this sire group for balanced trait improvement, and extra muscle shape and definition. Lot 35 defies the antagonisms excelling for both direct and maternal calving ease.
Lot 36 begins a run of 4 good-footed, balanced trait Remedy sons that all will add pay weight, improve quality grade, increase feeder calf value and make excellent replacement females.
No animal in the sale predicts to convert feed as efficiently as this Remedy son. Lot 38 also comes with excellent spread from low birthweight to heavier weaning and yearling weights.
We sell them by the pound, but buy feed by the ton. Lot 39 should shift that equation in ranchers favor when his eite weaning and yearling weight EPDs come with elite Feed Efficiency
Wedel & ALC Hybrids...
The Wedel and Anderson families are serious about SimAngus genetics, and really like the Hybrid bull approach to crossbreeding. Hybrid bulls like those selling as Lots 4047 allow our customers to inject some heterosis into their cowherds without big swings in cow size or days to finish in the steer progeny.
Our hybrid cows run on the same range as our Red Angus, and every one is enrolled in Total Herd Reporting (THR) - just like our Red Angus have been since THR was adopted in 1995.
We roll into the SimAngus bulls with another Remedy son who will improve Yield Grade and increase muscling and REA, but won’t get out of bounds in terms of frame size, mature cow weight or birth weight.
ALC REMEDY M80
Full-Brother to Lot 41, this Remedy son is one of the highest Profit bulls in the entire sale. Just look at his values for $Profit, $Feeder and GridMaster. And he does it without adding birthweight or mature size.
WEDEL PRIME-TIME 4096
This 7/8 Red Angus, 1/8 Char composite is loaded with natural thickness, and should still improve quality grade based on his Marbling EPD rank and his 115 IMF Ratio.
WEDEL MAINSPRING 4094
If you feel like you’re leaving some money on the table due to insufficient carcass weights, consider turning out either or both of these Hilger One sons. They are out of high producing full-sisters by marbling legend, 5L Genuine 1603-195C.
We wished the Wallace ranch had looked that green in the summer of 2024. With just a little well-timed moisture the Wedel cow herd doesn’t need any extra.
We start back into the Red Angus bulls with a pair of Transcendent sons, whose EPDs and $Profit tabulation could have started most sales. Either of these half-brothers will add payweight and improve quality grade while keeping positive pressure on calving ease, fertility and feed efficiency. The maternal-granddam of Lot 49 is the dam of Merlin.
M82
This bull’s old man sold well under the money two years ago, becauses of his black hide color. This bull checks all the boxes for the traits that add value. Just like Transcendent, think what his Red sons would be worth two years from now.
WEDEL FRANKLY 4336
This bull’s sire was the $20,000 second high seller in our 2019 sale going to Lundgren Angus Ranch. We could never get Lot 51’s dam sire verified, but she maintains a 370-day calving interval and has averaged a 111 weaning weight ratio on her 6 calves, so some commercial rancher is going to get a real cow herd builder here.
Ultra high powered son of Prime-Time whose superior predictions for heavier pay weights are backed up with performance ratios of 111 weaning, 112 yearling and 113 ADG.
Take a look at the dams that produced these Prime-Time sons that sell as Lots 52-54. Lot 52’s 107 MPPA dam maintains a 364-day calving interval. Lot 53’s dam maintains a 352-day calving interval and Lot 54’s dam is a donor in our program who has weaned her 5 natural calves at a 110 weaning weight ratio.
Not many bulls stamp their progeny with powerful phenotype the way Brown Confident J1263 does. Lot 55 is a half-brother to the $40,000 high-selling bull at Donnell & Kelli Brown’s 50th Anniversary October bull sale.
This may be the deepest first 100 bulls we’ve ever sold. Here’s the high $Profit bull in the entire offering and he comes almost a third of the way through the sale offering.
WEDEL CORNERSTONE
WEDEL TOP TIER 4068
KDLC TOP TIER 402
If you like the expressive muscling that comes standard on the Top Tier sons, but wished for a little more performance, check out the half-brothers selling as Lots 59 and 60. They could be turned out together in a multi-sire pasture on a set of wet 2-yrear-olds or running age cows and add: gain, pay weight and quality grade.
ALC REMEDY M17
If the idea of selling more pounds of PRIME carcass while paying a lower feed bill to your custom feeder, maybe you should turn out this pair of high efficiency, high marbling brothers by Remedy.
Lot 63 - WEDEL REMEDY 4351
WEDEL REMEDY 4114
WEDEL REMEDY 4351
If you need to add pay weight to a set of mature cows, you should own Lot 63. He ratioed 117 at weaning and 111 at yearling.
Here’s a pair of Remedy sons wiith excellent calving ease and low birth weights that would work great on virgin heifers, but have sufficient carcass merit and feed efficiecy to roll right into the cow herd as they mature.
ALC STOCK EXCHANGE M132
ALC STOCK EXCHANGE

Heifer bull deluxe! Lot 66 should improve both post weaning gain and quality grade, and his maternal grandam is the same cow behind Lots 1 and 5.
WEDEL TOP TIER 4265
WEDEL GENUINE 4205
Top Tier semen is all but gone, so this will be one of the last opportunties to incorporate his calving ease, fertility, marbling and muscularity into your program.

This cow defies genetic trends. 13 years after she was born she’s a $24,000+ $Profit. That’s hard to do with our yearling heifers. Pictured as a 9-year-old, she stayed at the top of our progam until she was 12. She’s in the pedigrees of seveal herd sires including Cornerstone and Grand Salm
WEDEL EQUILIBRIUM 4107

ALC MISS CONFIDENCE PLUS HO34
Dam of Lot 76 and 77 (Pictured after weaning her calf in the horrific drought . western Kansas experienced in 2022.)
We’re closing in on the halfway mark and we have a Red son of Anderson’s 107 MPPA Confidence Plus daughter. This is one of the top individuals in the offering when it comes to combining elite $Profit, $Feeder, GridMaster and Marbling.
ALC PRIME PLUS M40
It just keeps getting better. You’ll have a hard time picking between the two high marbling outcross half-brothers that sell as Lots 77 and 78. This one is out of a half sister to the dam of Grand Slam, who topped last year’s sale at $37,000.
WEDEL REMEDY 4329
Lots 79-81 are three high marbling half-brothers by Remedy that would make excellent choices to use on heifers.
Lot 81 is one of the best combinations of feed efficiency and quality grade in the entire offering, and he stays between the lines in terms of birthweight and replacment female value.
WEDEL CORNERSTONE 4142
Few buls in the entire offering predict to add more value to a pen of feeder calves than Lot 84. And with his carcass weight EPD there will be a lot more pounds of PRIME to sell.
TRANSCENDENT
This Black/Red Transcent son is a tank, and a good choice if you want to add rib shape, depth of body, muscle, marbling and feed efficiency without getting out of bounds on calving ease, milk or mature weight.

Will DeLong
January 16, 1974 - November 13, 2024
For many a year, someone named DeLong has been on the seats in Leoti, Kansas every March for the Wedel Beef Genetics’ Annual Bull Sale. For many years that was usually John, but for the past decade or so, it was Will DeLong, who flew into Denver and traveled to our sale with his good friend and Superior Rep, Jim Davis and two SUVs filled with his fellow high desert ranchers. As a rancher and a cattleman, he was masterclass. As a son, husband, father and friend he was even better.
While outwardly we may not have liked it when Will bid against us on a bull, inwardly our confidence grew with the knowelege that he shared our opinion. Will was a student of Red Angus genetics. He maintained an inventory of every bull purchased by DeLong Ranches going back over 30 years. He looked at the genetic trends for those traits of greatest economic relevance in his environment and always prescribed a multi-trait approach. He understood unchecked progress in revenue traits might have adverse consequences for the cow herd. He and his family were recognized for their excellence. DeLong Ranches was named Red Angus Commercial Producer of the year and won many GridMaster awards, and their closeouts were the stuff of legends. Last year their steers exceeded 50% PRIME with only 2.4% YG 4’s. We fed a load of their heifers that gained over 4.24 lbs/day and converted at 5.23 lbs Dry feed/lb. of gain. The reputation of their cattle was understood, wherever the market was, when the DeLong cattle showed up on Superior’s video screen, the market got higher. We always bid on his cattle, we couldn’t always afford them.
I can’t remember many times Will didn’t have a smile on his face, and when you were with him, you’d have a smile too. His handshake was all the contract we ever needed, and his friendship will be missed. His passing is tragic for his parents, John and Judy, his wife Katie and their kids, Billy, Matti and Louise and for our industry. But we, like many others are better off to have known and learned from Will, and we’ll give thanks that God let our paths cross many years ago. Frank and Susan Wedel

We don’t pamper our replacements and we didn’t pick out these sale heifers until mid-January. This Transcendent daughter comes from a good uddered first-calf heifer by Prime-Time. She results from a pedigree stacked for Profit, 1% or better for ProS, GridMaster, $Feeder and $Profit.
